Meh. The toilet stall is cardboard, definitely not very interested in paying premium for basically just a figure of Gennaro.

Loon

I was a little surprised that they even bothered to include the Rex in this set. They just "released" the retail version and this doesn't seem tremendously different. I was thinking "rain effects" would mean little bits of white paint going down the sides of the figure to simulate rainfall, but no, it just looks darker. I guess that's not terrible, and it might just end up as my Hammond Collection tyrannosaurus, as I have yet to find one at retail.

I'm happy they finally did this set, though. I've been looking forward to this exact idea for years; at least since the line started. Gennaro is necessary for me at least, but I can see why they would need to pack him in with the tyrannosaurus, because I don't think he's much of a draw to most collectors on his own. So, I'll probably pick one up, provided they don't sell out in half a millisecond.

I dunno, I'm a simple, laid back man. I like being able to get things easy when that thing is part of a hobby that I use to relax and brighten my mood. Go to the store and grab something from a shelf, or just click "add to cart". I hate preorders and I don't do them. And I absolutely abhor exclusives. The harder it gets to get some of these things the more likely I am to just throw up my hands and say "to hell with it". Packaging Gennaro with the HC T. rex is every bit as lame as what Mattel did with the Dominion Sattler. They put these characters with expensive dinosaurs because they know that people will buy it just to have that character. Mattel's mindset is "we can charge anything we want, 2,000 a day, 10,000 a day, and people will pay it". Well to that, I say that these toys shouldn't just cater to the super rich. I'm not interested in jumping through their hoops...sitting on my computer at a specific time and date on the off chance that I'll be able to beat the masses to this exclusive. Mattel needs cut the crap with their raptor repaints and other garbage and focus on giving the fans what they actually want, in a manner in which they can actually get them.

EDIT: Despite all my ranting I will probably still end up on Mattel Creations on the 22nd because it never hurts just to look, maybe I will get lucky. I don't have the HC T. rex yet, if I did then this exclusive would be a definite pass.

The past couple of Mattel Creation exclusives have been fairly easy to get ordered (Ray Arnold and reclined Ian Malcom), although there isn't a doubt in my mind this will prove to be one of the most popular and potentially hardest to get yet. This isn't based on some made up scene as in the case with Ray, and it's not just some goofy meme figure like with Ian. This is a character we've never seen before in toy form, packaged around an iconic scene and complete with one of the most anticipated molds of the year. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if traffic is a bit heavier on to Mattel Creations than it has been for exclusives past.

Okay so I think the lighting of the initial reveal images had me misled, because from that box shot it looks more like the same HC T. rex, and not the grey-ish green aesthetic like the actual animatronic T. rex had in that scene (at least the way it looks in those dark BTS images of it with Stan himself, or the crew). The instagram post mentions something about an exclusive "rain deco" though. Maybe it just means some gloss added to give the impression of raindrops? Gonna need the promo images to get a better idea at this point. The box art looks really nice though. I guess the sign is part of the packaging and not an accessory either, which is a bummer. Maybe I should sculpt my own with the sculpy clay I have unused.

I agree with avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi. It's just like what Hasbro did with their Power of the Primes line back in 2018. The only way to get the final four Prime Master figures was with the SDCC exclusive Throne of the Primes. A blatant and shameless money grab.

I can't wait! Genarro was the next character I was hoping for them to make, and with the toilet, too. I bought Arnold the minute the set came up, but it took a few days to sell out. The rex looks good, too.

I thought I had gone back to post about that, but I guess I never did. Probably because I was distracted with other stuff, as is often the case. Anyways, I'm excited it's an actual accessory and not just part of the packaging after all. I hope we can see more of those classic signs as accessories down the road, but this one is at least important to have, being part of the iconic film scene.

Also here's the instagram link for anyone. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf4qUmlj-kg/

It does appear a tad bit darker then the standard release. Dang, now I'm really torn on what to do here, assuming I can even afford it atm, even if I do refund my standard HC T. rex, because I worry about what the shipping cost will be like (and assuming there's enough to go around not bought up by scalpers). I may just have to pay after market prices for this one later on unfortunately, and I'm absolutely dreading that. This is literally the last of the main cast I've been waiting on for years for, and also I've wanted a set like this since Mattel got the license (even if I do think they should have gone that extra mile so the outhouse isn't cardboard or thick paper).

I keep checking to see if they'll have a price up ahead of time. Might be a long wait though since it doesn't go up for pre-order until the 22 at 9am PT or 12pm ET (my time zone). And speaking about checking, this appears to be available for pre-order still, surprisingly:

No matter how many times I see that thing in photos, I'm still just stunned by its size. Can't wait for it to start showing up on shelves here!

Faelrin

Still can't believe this is our first Dreadnoughtus toy, and it happens to be a huge one, as it should be. And thankfully the film's take is pretty decent too (minus the elephant feet). I'm guessing this will show up in Target stores here (US) around fall?

Funko Mystery Minis!

Much nicer than their bigger counterparts...for the most part, that is. Humans and Therizonosaurus still look like junk.
In case you wonder about rarity:
Chances of getting
T.rex, Giganotsaurus, Therizinosaurus or Blue are 1/6 each.
Owen and Claire are 1/12 each
Ellie and Ian are 1/24 each
Brachiosaurus and Mosaurus are 1/36 each
Stegosaurus and Glow in the Dark Giganotosaurus are 1/72 each.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Gwangi

Of course the Stegosaurus and Brachiosaurus are hard to find, they're the only two I like!

CityRaptor

If you are looking for them, Brachiosaurus is most likely not the heaviest box since it is mostly neck.

That makes sense. I probably won't bother with them, I haven't seen them in any of my local stores.

CityRaptor

Yep, that is how I do it, too. Only brought the one I got because it was at a local store. The heaviest box out of the 3 they had...and got the T.rex. Lightest box was either a human or Blue.

I'm not really into Funko but I do love these guys!

Prehistory Resurrection

2022 Mattel JWD Ferocious Pack Rugops Primus Review from Andy's Dinosaur Reviews. A very controversial figure. I wonder why is the reason behind the feathering seen on this figure. Abelisaurs are known for their scaly and bumpy skin texture. But maybe this is yet another of Mattel's artistic liberties. Secondly, the innermost toes are very big and are unnaturally curved. And thirdly, there are only two digits on each front limb when it is known that abelisaurs possessed four.
