Quote from: Halichoeres on August 17, 2022, 12:46:14 AMThanks for all the photos, it's a good-looking figure. I'm curious about the olive oil: is it used to soften the plastic and then washed off, or as a lubricant when attaching the tail? I would have assumed that it would eventually go rancid in the latter case.
As a lubricant, yep, I'm more comfortable with natural lubricants (maybe glicerin too) because some mineral oils (most are made of petrolatum) could damage the rubber. As we know here, virgin olive oil doesn't perish, but the quantity inside would be almost inexistant. Mostly because I wasn't sure if I would have to take the tail out later to correct or cut something, and if I used water, that would have been imposible because water would have dried and rubber would stick inside. I have not tried to take the tail out, maybe is still posible.

Interesting, I had never heard anyone say that olive oil isn't perishable, but even if it did spoil you're right that the quantity would be pretty small.

Shonisaurus

Rebor's tyrannosaurus is super interesting, it's perhaps one of the best made tyrannosaurus scientific figures on the market, it's more interesting than the PNSO one and it's huge. Thank you for sharing the photos, it is very beautiful.

avatar_Duna @Duna I recall you said you are no longer interested in sauropods that are in a smaller scale than 1:35, and that you are no longer interested in lipless theropods either. So I'm wondering, will you be getting rid of figures like Safari's Camarasaurus, CollectA's Diplodocus and Brontosaurus and PNSO's Yutyrannus, Qianzhousaurus and so on, then?

Not that I'm interested in any, I'm just curious about that.

Duna

Nice question! I have to update my collection thread, by the way ...  ^-^

My Collecta diplodocus has gone to my daughters' collection.
About the Camarasauruses ... I love Camarasaurus as a species. I love Safari's and Carnegie's colours. I decided to keep all of them. The Carnegie will stay with my (reduced) Carnegie collection. I decided to purchase some Carnegies recently, as you know, but mostly the last figures, because their sculpts (though outdated) are so good. The Safari Camarasaurus is still in the cabinet and will probably stay in there (as Papo brachiosaurus, Eofauna Atlasaurus, Collecta Mamenchisaurus and Safari Nigersaurus) because I don't plan to put inside the cabinet the 1:35 sauropods. The largest are just too large and too tall. But if I need more space probably the next to be gifted to my daughters will be the Collecta Mamenchisaurus. They have been asking for a mamenchisaurus for a long time.
The Collecta Brontosaurus will also stay in the cabinet because there is no better brontosaurus figure.

Same about the theropods, while there is no better figure than the PNSOs, they will stay.

I sold the 3D printed skeletons to leave place on the shelves to the March of the Sauropods (the ones that as tall as the HLG mamenchisaurus or less). The other shelf that had another skeleton is now dedicated to the Mesozoic Spinosaurus and the PNSO amargasaurus. They look nice as display pieces.

Got it. And HLG has been cranking out some really nice theropods, so they'll probably itch you to replace some of them down the road!

Sounds good, I figure all the titans you've been getting (HLG's sauropods) would like to get the spotlight.  8) And sauropods aside, it'd be interesting to see how your setup evolved from 2021 to now.
