Quote from: bmathison1972 on October 18, 2022, 03:24:18 PMI got a few Signatustudio figures a couple years ago, to see how I'd like them. They are very nice, albeit very expensive, not to mention shipping from Europe to USA.
That being said, I may have to breakdown for that Titanochelon!!!

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy - what's the best way to order them? I am not on social media, so that's not an option for me. Thank you!

EDIT: A Google search resulted in his website! BTW, the name is Signatustudio (one word) :)

Yes he sells directly from his website, along with the Likaon collective's website.
Available models: http://www.signatustudio.com/available-models.html

Thanks I am already in touch and will be ordering the Titanochelon later today! :-D

Miguel has something new in the works: Eucladoceros (E. dicranios)!

His Megaloceros is one of his best pieces imo, so I am very much looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Halichoeres

Whoa, I don't envy him the task of figuring out how to ship those antlers without breaking. Eucladoceros is such a spectacular deer that I always wonder why it isn't made more often.

Found this on his FB. Very impressive size for the O. megalodon bust.

Oh, man, this is exciting! Megaloceros is pretty much the only extinct deer that ever gets made, so this is a welcome change. I was all set to order the Decennatherium rex, but now I'm wondering if I should wait for this to come out so I can get them shipped together.

I'm sure Miguel would be open to holding a copy of the Decennatherium back for you. I'm planning on doing the same but with different models.

On another note, has anyone here acquired Miguel's Megaloceros, Steppe Bison or Hipparion? I'm currently debating between the three ungulates.

Faelrin

I agree with both avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres and avatar_Dusty Wren @Dusty Wren. It's a shame there aren't more figures (if any) of Eucladoceros. Very glad to see this, even if it would be out of my typical price range such as the Haast's Eagle is. It's one of my favorite extinct cervids alongside Cervacles scotti.

Indeed. Plenty of interesting cervids that need figures. Sinomegaceros also comes to mind.

Faelrin

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy Oof how did I forget about that one? It's also so majestic, and rather unique. Thanks for the reminder of it.

I've always wanted a Sinomegaceros. S. pachyosteus would be ideal (those antlers are so distinctive that I can't believe no one has wanted to make one), but S. yabei would be wonderful, too. Cervacles scotti and Candiacervus are also on my wish list.

Progress pics on the Eucladoceros. Work has begun on the antlers!

Faelrin

Honestly, I'm actually considering picking this one up (and maybe eventually the Haast's eagle as well), even if I typically prefer to collect toys. Mad respect for doing it in the first place, and especially with how complicated this one's antlers are. I can't imagine the level of patience needed to work on something like this.  Can't wait to see it finished.

I am also curious on what the scale will be. I think most of my other prehistoric Cenozoic models are around 1:30 give or take, but exceptions to scale always must be made for rarely made fauna such as this.

Same here. I've been meaning to pick up his Megaloceros for quite a while now, but never pulled the trigger due to the price. (which is a totally fair price for a high-quality custom resin piece, but I'm more used to cheaper offerings entering my collection)

Most likely 1:20 , as all of his current extinct/prehistoric offerings are of that scale.

Halichoeres

I wasn't familiar with Sinomegaceros but that is also a pretty majestic rack!

Sculpt is basically finished.

Looks more like a mythical creature than a real animal, in a good way! Simply magestic piece right here.

Dusty Wren

He's gorgeous. I can't believe how fast Miguel finished the sculpt.

I am fascinated by the molding process for this. How do you cast something as complex as those antlers? I guess you'd have to cut them into a bunch of different pieces, but assembling the rack for each figure must be tedious.

Better yet, he expects the Eucladoceros to be sale ready in mid-November.

Faelrin

I am absolutely blown away at how fast he put this together. I do agree there's something mythical about it as well, but sometimes truth is stranger then fiction though.

Though you know what? Come to think of it, I wonder if the Pokemon Xerneas was partially inspired by this animal? Wouldn't shock me since they straight up made a Pokemon out of Diplocaulus (though that's probably a bit more well known, but still).

My Titanochelon arrived yesterday! Only 5 days to get to me! Stunning model! No pics at the moment. Might consider a Blog review if not claimed

Well, it looks like I will be buying myself an early Christmas present this year.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, it's possible that Eucladoceros was the inspiration for Xerneas. We've got Pokemon based on crinoids, ammonites, Anomalocaris, Dunkleosteus, Diplocaulus, and a bunch of dinosaurs, so the game developers are no strangers to drawing on fossil animals for designs. Still, Xerneas' antlers are V-shaped and don't branch and interlock like Eucladoceros' do, so it may just be a case of convergent evolution on the "deer but with really big antlers" concept.

B @bmathison1972, congrats! I hope you do write that review, I'd love to read it. It's hard to find reviews of these figures.
