Deinocheirus looks so undersized compared to the other animals. It's even at the low end of realistic size ranges.

Faelrin

Well so we are getting a new insect feeder for Jeholopterus, and Deinocheirus will eat both plants and fish like I had hoped (which also explains the leaked icon from a while back). Had to come back here and share.

Really some of the best Designs, Frontier made to this Point (Attenborosaurus with its Leatherback Design was also really well done to my taste. I do not know how much freedom they have with certain Species, but the JW Franchise is clearly holding them back.

Looks like, that Prehistoric Planet and its Hype kinda works its way slowly into the Heads of People. Now, Dinosaurs slowly change in the Mainstream Media and the Picture People have. Nice to see. But i still. I have the game, but i will propably not going to purchase any DLC for the game. I just do not like the Artstyle in this Franchise (Not so the Feathered pack dlc. Clearly nice. But still. It feels like looking for something not bad and apprechiating it heavily in a Thing i really do not like at all :D)

But i am really glad this DLC comes the way it does. Helps People to understand more. Maybe. In the End most People want fighting Monsters.

Faelrin

So the new log and dome attractions in the next update will work like the Biosyn tower things. Or the viewing dome from good old classic JPOG. Can't to try out both. Zipline is also getting DFW and JP variants.

Lots of good additions for sandbox too. New square maps based on each biome type, infinite feeders, income tax, mixed foliage for PC and next gen (been wanting this forever. Edit: confirmed it is just the individual placable trees only, not the brushes too), and more.

Honestly at this point the only things left I majorly want are more decorations (trash cans, benches, etc), sauropods able to fight back, pterosaurs can walk, social animations for pterosaurs and marine reptiles. Oh and a river cruise attraction even if it works the same as the existing tours but just in water.

I really want more rides, and frankly, dinosaur enrichment objects. If a polar bear at a zoo can get a tire or a ball to play with, why can't the medium theropods get something similar? I understand it might seem 'goofy' to Jurassic fans, but animals in captivity need enrichment.

Why can't we do that?

I also would love to see some of the social animations made available for more than one species on the same rig. The Acrocanthosaurus', ah, sniffing animation, for instance can be repurposed for other theropods of a similar size and visa versa so they have more diverse behaviors, no?

Faelrin

The stream is definitely worth a watch, if not at least one of the truncated versions of it posted by the various JWE2 youtubers out there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4O1kEXS2gI

Some new stuff too not mentioned before:
-New randomized rock options for each of the biome's rocks. Updated UI to account for this and the new mixed foliage decorations (which includes the planters, not just the trees). Makes me kind of want this for the trees now, lol. (53:35)
-Slow time option implemented between the play and pause time buttons. (54:54)
-The new square maps are absolutely huge! Very excited to try those out. If I recall right they did mention there would be versions for each of the biomes, including PA, Biosyn, and Malta. (25:40)
-As far as the small dinosaurs looking above the water go, they mentioned some of the smaller stegosaurids and ceratopsians as examples, and even got to show it with the Styracosaurus. (42:38)

I haven't played the game since last summer because it kept hard crashing at random on my X-box One. I hope they've fixed that by now so I can resume playing with the new DLC. Still need the Malta DLC too.

Two more days left. I can hardly wait as it is.

This new tiger coloration might be my favorite next to the white one:

Edit: I saw in a video that was posted too early/broke embargo last night that showed the Deinocheirus could fight back, and was about as big as the T. rex. Any concerns about its size were resulting from forced perspective like what happened with the Yutyrannus pic that people misinterpreted to mean baby dinosaurs were coming to the game. Worth mentioning Yutyrannus seems to be properly sized too.

Seems the embargo properly lifted now so here's some videos to check this all out:

Full patch notes here:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/jurassic-world-evolution-2-feathered-species-pack-and-update-6-out-now.615613/

Lots of good stuff they didn't announce earlier listed in there:

-Added ability for 'Release via Airlift' to Aviary Hatcheries allowing players to release flying reptiles outside an Aviary
-Arrival Point now starts opened in Sandbox Mode, and on moving Arrival Points we maintain their status as opened/closed
-Made Billboard Icons appear above a forest when a dinosaur enters them
-VO Characters' introductionsare now tracked account wide and will only play once per account rather than once per Career
Added Setting for 'Repeat Introductions' (found under the 'Audio' sub-section) to toggle this on/off

Lots of bug fixes too. Probably the best patch we've gotten for the game so far, and there have been some really good ones previously.

Wild Pterosaurs... welp, my guests will hate it, but I won't. slowly getting close to my dream land of dinosaurs.

Faelrin

The Jurassic Park 30th anniversary update is coming out on June 8th, with lots of new decorations, and returning RTJP things that were missing from the game, since it launched.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/jurassic-world-evolution-2-jurassic-park-30th-anniversary-free-update-announcement.617490/

This pic I saw posted on reddit, and thought it would be good to share here too:

We are getting over 20 new decorations. Things confirmed from the images above (and from the forum post):

-When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth Banners (two different types)
-Visitor Center Mural
-Visitor Center Dining Room Tables with Chairs
-Gallimimus scene dead log
-The Jeep gates from the beginning of the film
-RTJP Jurassic Park bunker
-RTJP Pylons
-RTJP Path(s)
-New fence? Or RTJP one?
-Alamosaurus skeleton
-Tyrannosaurus skeleton
-Jurassic Park planter rock thing

I absolutely love that we are getting the classic mural and banner. I should have expected those, but honestly I had nothing in mind prior to this.

Edit: This article reveals we are also getting a Mr. DNA statue, and the classic Triceratops pile of poo, in addition to the above. Edit 2: Both were in the reddit pic, but I missed them earlier. The Mr. DNA statue is among the tables and guests, and the poo pile is in the Brachiosaurus enclosure. The maintenance shed is also present in the reddit pic, near the park tour building.

Exciting stuff! Was just thinking the other day that we need more skeletons, just the Spinosaurus was getting rather boring. I'm about to rage quit this game though. I was nearly finished with perhaps the best park I ever built, then the game crashed, and now whenever I try to load that particular map it crashes. On the Xbox One. Hopefully there's a patch included with this update because these crashes aren't new.

Faelrin

Yeah I think they really need to address issues for the last gen users, if not across the board, and I believe you all have it worse for sure. Honestly though I think it was irresponsible to release it on those systems as they can barely manage the game as it is, from what I've heard. I mean my older PC is equivalent to that, and the PC version won't even launch on said system because it is below the minimum requirements. I can't imagine what they had to to do to get it functional on those console systems then. Even cutting back a plethora of features hasn't seemed to have helped last gen users at all from what I've heard so far (such as the lack of mix eras, species limits, etc), with all the crashes, and other issues, both Xbox, and PS4 alike.

On the other hand there's still a lot of folks on the older consoles that would have been left out had they not released it on there at all. I think the last patch also had a performance hit (even on my PC, which meets or exceeds recommended), which probably didn't help matters. Can't recall if they addressed that or not yet. I haven't played it since April.

I've heard cutting back on decorations helps avoid issues, also shutting the park down for large parks, since the bigger the park/more stars, the more guests, which adds to the system load. I don't know if that would be of any help to you at this point though. Maybe less dinosaurs over all too.

I've definitely been pushing the limits of my console with big maps, lots of decorations, and the maximum amount of dinosaurs. I need to built smaller parks I guess, but I don't want to. I knew with this last one that I was pushing my luck but I was so close to being done. I agree, I'm not sure that the game should have been released for the older consoles at all. Eventually I will get a new Xbox though, and then it will be like playing a whole new game what with mixed buildings and all. And maybe my lost park will work too.

Faelrin

Fingers crossed the new system will help it work, and you don't lose all those hours of progress. Definitely know how frustrating that is, since I've run into that before with some my older JWE parks, and whatnot from other games like Skyrim over the years.

I'm still upset about losing my level 79 Skyrim character, and that was 10 years ago.  :P

Update is out now. While I'm in the middle of revisiting Ark at the moment, I did dive in and check out some of the new stuff, and might even toy around with it later today.
