Amargasaurus looks awesome. 'Almost like it wants to throw spikes at you, X-men style. ;D

'Won't be a JP dino if it didn't have elephant feet though. ;D

Mellow Stego

Very excited for this game! Even with its flaws I love the first one.
Keep calm and love dinosaurs

Gothmog the Baryonyx

I have never played the first game though I was interested, but might get this one. I assume you don't need to play the first one to know how to do this one?
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

Faelrin

I'm going to guess that probably not, since they'll want as much widespread appeal as possible, hence not being just on PS5, the new XBOX, and PC but also the older systems. I would suspect a basic tutorial at the beginning of the campaign, as with the last game. Additionally if you had experience playing JPOG at all in the past, a lot of it was pretty similar to that (such as researching, expeditions, extracting fossils). It is possible they could make references and such to the previous game's campaign and DLC, but we'll have to wait and see of course.

Really excited for this. I about pushed the first JWE to its limits with regards to creativity. I want to keep playing it but I've done all I can with it, or all I care to do. I play it on the X-Box though so I don't have the benefit of mods. I really hope they beef up the creativity, invest more in plants and decor and biomes than in just the dinosaurs. From the looks of it, they have. I also hope they have feathered dinosaurs of course. They really should but they might not show up until the next movie is released, I think that's what they did with Fallen Kingdom's dinosaurs. Some of the stuff from Camp Cretaceous would be nice too, skins for Bumpy and the other character dinosaurs, the Scorpios rex, etc.

Good thing I did not buy the first game after reading all the reviews.
Even pretty dinos and JP licence is not enough to make it a good game.
The management/economy was missing depth, for a title full of useless repetitive tasks.
So I hope they have improved that, but I would not count too much on it seeing how the first informations insist on their gimmick playable scenarios taken from the movies just to attract the casual crowd.

I sure hope they kept all the dinos from the first game and its dlcs.

The first JWE was a pretty decent management sim actually, what it lacked depth in was the park builder elements.

There is only so much slack mods can pick up, but between figuring out how to add more species and scenery big strides have been made in the past few months. JWE2 is going to have to do a lot to make me bother with it instead of just using mods in the first game.

Eocarcharia

I want to be excited for this, and to an extent, I am. I did get much enjoyment from the first game despite its many flaws. The promises for the new game all sound good, but seeing comparisons like this make me wary of just how great the improvements will truly be.

Still, I will withhold any judgements until we at least have actual gameplay, while keeping my expectations tempered.

Einherjar

Glad we're getting a sequel, but it kinda looks like the same game. Would have hoped for some better lighting to push it a bit further.

Mellow Stego

I'm fine with it looking like the first game. Just want them to improve on a few things like a more in depth management sim. I want to be able to place a Dino mascot (guy dressed up like a dinosaur) on the streets to encourage fun.
If nothing else it would be hilarious to watch him run away from a rampaging dinosaur.

Keep calm and love dinosaurs

Blade-of-the-Moon

I bought it new, tried it for a week then sold it.  It was too much managing and not enough just fun with dinosaurs.

I wouldn't mind the management part so much if I wasn't bad at it and you have to achieve certain milestones to unlock things in Sandbox mode.  That's...like the opposite of a sandbox mode.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Gwangi

Sandbox mode was the best part of the game. I basically ignored most of the part and spent time building different biomes. For me it was all about building the ecosystem and then populating it with specific dinosaurs. Ecosystem building is rather limited in JWE but I made do, and had a lot of fun in the process.

It was just so much like what I do now here at the Dino Park, trying to keep up with everything.  It's like playing a game about being a manager at a Walmart at night while you really manage a Walmart during the day.. well not exactly but you get the gist.

GojiraGuy1954

I'll get this if Sandbox mode is unlocked from the start, unlike the original. If not, at least i'll have Prehistoric Kingdom either way.
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

Just got a boatload of information from this gameinformer article written by Andrew Reiner (as well as on his twitter responding to folks asking some questions):

https://www.gameinformer.com/2021/06/21/raptors-hunt-in-packs-exclusive-first-details-for-jurassic-world-evolution-2

Biggest takeaways from this article (and the twitter posts):

  •     Bigger maps.
  •     New behavior/territory system.
  •     Being able to edit the landscape and see dinosaurs needs at the same time.
  •     Herbivores no longer need feeders and eat from the environment.
  •     Pteranodons can escape aviaries and attack guests if their comfort is too low (and the aviaries are fully customizable).
  •     Predators chase after prey dynamically (sounds like the JPOG system!).
  •     Guests now have different moods and preferences (also sounds similar to JPOG).
  •     Customizable attractions (aquarium, cinema, spa, etc) and buildings (such as colorations, decor, etc).
  •     New weather such as snowstorms.
  •     Acrocanthosaurus and Camarasaurus is returning, and plenty of film canon ones (as expected).
And obviously what the title of the article mentions as well!

Edit: Habitat decorations (such as rocks, etc) are returning as well, which the trailer showed a bit. No word about park decorations (such as benches, trash cans, light posts, fountains, statues, signs, etc) just yet unfortunately.

New clip from his twitter showing the Pterandons are dynamic as well (which could be gleaned from the article as well):

https://twitter.com/Andrew_Reiner/status/1407037677908729857

Short clip of the Amargasaurus leaving the hatchery:

https://twitter.com/Andrew_Reiner/status/1407067243402469377

Also some really interesting looking prehistoric plants in this Brachiosaurus screenshot. Looks like some kind of cycad?

Acrocanthosaurus
Happy to hear that confirmed, although I do hope for a bit of a redesign. I personally wasn't a fan of the JWE Acrocanthosaurus' look.

A 1 for management sim gameplay, 2-3 for those who want to fight with the games poor park building mechanics to make aesthetically pleasing parks. It's an easy game to pop in and out of, but also an easy one to spend a lot of time in if you're a bit of a perfectionist with aesthetics.
