I want a hole in the pubic boot of the allosaurus so that I can mount it on the stegosaurus and recreate that last pic   >:D

Quote from: Blade-of-the-Moon on March 18, 2024, 02:08:20 PMI don't see the Stegosaurus ever having many options for posing , probably head/neck and tail , but  I would get it to go with the Allosaurus.  I still don't have a good diorama with both " vs " in it.

Well, there's the middle body section and the legs. At the very least it should be more than capable of recreating the most iconic fights between itself and Allo.

I've managed to get a few poses out of the ceratopisans middle body joint, but not very far. Legs, maybe neck and tail are about all I'm expecting.

I really wanted to use the Dryptosaurus to recreate Knight's painting of the fighting theropods. That was dreaming big unfortunately.

Honestly, wouldn't say no to a 1:18 Stegouros...

I mean, I'm thankful Safari made their version so I could pass on CollectA's ginormous one and have a more moderately-sized alternative, but I would likewise appreciate it if Creative Beast made a 1:18 one, so it would be smaller (but not cheaper!) than Safari's.

Faelrin

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator Mattel's is in that scale, more or less, but certainly has a lot of anatomical problems when compared with the Safari (or CollectA). Particularly of note is a reduced number of tail blades that I immediately picked up on, and numerous others.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin Interesting that Mattel's is at around that scale. I don't collect Mattel, I had the impression that Mattel's figures are generally large. In any case, I'd rather get Safari's, even if I would have preferred if it'd been smaller.

Faelrin

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator It really depends on the figure, but most are intended to be around the 1:18 mark (more or less), since that's what the humans are in (same scale as much of BotM and Cyberzoic).

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres has a nice size comparison of all three Stegouros toy figures in his collection thread.

BotM Deinonychus paint progress. Can see the Triceratops and Chasmosaurus babies appear to be up next.

It looks great, but I prefer the Cyberzoic version.  I hope the Cyberzoic Deinonychus will be available for buying as I didn't back the Cyberzoic Kickstarter.  Preferably without anything else.

I tried finding a picture of the Cyberzoic Deinonychus in the first post of this thread, but there wasn't any of the completed prototype...

Here's some pics of it avatar_Sim @Sim. It is available to pre-order on the backerkit for the kickstarter, so no worries, and Everything Dinosaur should be getting them in once they are ready to ship. It is a Wave 2 release, with an shipping estimate of early/spring 2025.

Edit: Here's a pic of how it compares with the Safari Ltd Deinonychus to give an idea of size, from when I went to Legions Con last year:

Thanks avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin!  It's beautiful!  I've been wishing lately that David would make more 1:18 dromaeosaurids.  An accurate Zhenyuanlong would be amazing, and Adasaurus would go so well with the Nemegt Formation species we've been getting!

To quote Batman ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maX-ObiJB3o ), "Now I hate to break it to you but this new you is TOO BLUE!" No offense meant, but Ugueto's colors are MUCH easier on the eyes (in addition to more realistic).

Really like both variants. I got in on the Cyberzoic version during the Kickstarter but the figure is small enough and relatively affordable that I might have to get the BotM variant to make a mated pair!

Pliosaurking

I definitely prefer the Cyberzoic, as its colour scheme is much brighter. They would make an excellent pair however, and they are cheap enough where one could easily get both.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I only ordered the sabertooth/DR exclusive from the kickstarter, just too many preorders now. I might pick these up like I plan to with some of the others when they go up for sale.  Would also prefer a nonarmored version. Color wise I'd take either, both might make a nice male/female set.

That Deinonychus would look really good in all black with the same blue trim, sort of an iridescent blue.  hm...

You mean similar to this?:

I guess, yeah.  Hadn't seen that before.   I think the Cyberzoic figure with the same red and blue trim colours but jet black instead of brown base colour would look really good...at least for a male.  The female could be plain brown overall.

I want to echo this sentiment because it's where I am as far as BoTM is going at this point. I'm a pure 1/18 collector but some of the best stuff to come out of this line has been the smaller figures!

My Triceratops and Torosaurus are delights on the shelf, but honestly once you get past that size, especially with bipeds, it seems hard for BoTM to stick the landing. That T. rex was such a turn-off for me, specially when Mattel of all companies can make a 1/18 fully articulated theropod stand and pose better.

And for a better price, to boot.

Dave if you're reading this, please consider bringing some Leptoceratopsians to the line at 1/18 scale! Especially Udanoceratops!

I've mentioned it a few times before, the need lighter bodies and more movement, ala Mattel. I like the detail but the weight and lack of poseability is a problem for poseable figures.
