Saarlooswolfhound's New Additions 8/1

Ok! I indulged myself a bit with prehistorics and new discoveries... I took a break for years and until this last year or two I have gotten back into prehistorics. Lets get down to it!

My new additions! *pretend the raccoon is an early mammal of some sort  ;)  ;) *

Got the painted Bully mammoth and its calf (love them!), the reproductions (?) of the gomphotherium and andrewsarchus, FINALLY got the TNG smilodon and it was sooooo worth the wait!, the baby maiasaura to the Mom I got a few months back, I almost have a complete Schleich  junior dino line (only missing the quetzalcoatlus model and I would like the blue variant spino too), found a small nayab copy(?) raccoon that may turn into a custom, and then the Kinto Favorite T rex keychain and Safari Ltd. Sue the T rex skull keychain!

As a quick aside, a lot of these are models I have dreamed about for some time since I began collecting as a kid in 2009 but Sue the T rex holds a special place in my heart. I got to see her ad a traveling exhibit as a child and she amazed me then. I still have the small stuffed T rex from that first visit.  The exhibit returned when I was a young adult and I enjoyed just as much then. I would love to find the other Sue Safari items from back in the day but this keychain, as silly as it may be, thrills me to have in hand anyhow. :D

THEN I made a new friend from a store online and he was incredibly kind. Without boring you all, I was suler excited to see these catalogues for sale online for about 1$ a piece! This has filled so many holes in my catalogue collection and I am so excited to thumb through the pages and enjoy the material. I even was able to buy a small booklet produced by the Korbach museum for the Procynosuchus exhibit! Its all in German so I can't read it but I don't care. :) I also got a brochure thing advertising Bullys prehistoric mammals line which I now know I nearly have completed also. :)

And now humor me in my excitement... some group photos outside!

My TNG prehistoric mammals collection together at last!

My flock of smilodons.

Working on my mammoth herd.

Then I am really proud of my prehistoric elephant family tree. I have another on the way as I type!

Alright, this is all for now!

It's been a hot minute since I updated here! I am sure a missed a few newbies but here is the absolute latest.

Halichoeres

Nice ones. I'm especially fond of the Malawisaurus, nice to have a moderate-sized sauropod in the neighborhood of 1:40.

BlueKrono

Gotta love titanosaurs! I felt very lucky to get to see the Malawisaurus skeleton at the Perot Museum in Dallas.
We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster, but there - there you could look at a thing monstrous and free." - King Kong, 2005

Saarlooswolfhound

Thank you both! Sauropods are probably the main group of dinos that I am unfamiliar with so pulling the trigger on these two has expanded my small dino collection.  And that is amazing BlueKrono! I couldn't imagine seeing a titanosaur in person!

Another quick update with recent finds. These are a mix of thrift store, ebay, and in person store purchases. I did find a small JP gorgonopsid that missed the photo shoot!

Concavenator

Cool batch! In particular I think CollectA's Megalosaurus is quite underrated.

Ludodactylus

Nice haul! I'm a fan of the Schleich Kentrosaurus, and it's always nice to see the JP accessory mini-dinos.
"The most popular exhibits in any natural history museum are, without doubt, the dinosaurs. These creatures' popularity grows each year, partly because of the recent resurgence of dinosaur movies, but also because a skeleton of a full-sized Tyrannosaurus rex still has the ability, even 65 million years after its death, to chill us to the bone." - Ray Harryhausen

Just a few fun finds from recently.

If anyone recognized the plesiosaur and has more info, I would appreciate it!

Haven't posted here for a minute but I have gotten some new additions!

The Eofauna Sue model was a must have when it released. I have found quite a few treasures since my last post but she is my favorite! I also was able to snag two highly anticipated Safari's including the Ichthyosaurus I have been looking for for years and my other top favorite.

Crackington

Well done on that haul! Some very nice figures there including Battat, Wild Past and Cog! What brand is that Synthetoceras? Very nice figure, is it Bullyland?

Saarlooswolfhound

Thank you! And that is an Eikoh synthetoceras.

Halichoeres

You've been busy! The Carnegie Tylosaurus is a beauty in particular.

For a sec I thought that green ankylosaur figure was Safari's Zuul lol.

Very nice new additions. While we're at it, what figure is that green one in the middle? It´s not an Ankylosaur, is it?

avatar_Libraraptor @Libraraptor, avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator  it is the Natural History Museum Ankylosaurus

Unless you mean the Wild Past Scutosaurus?

Yeah, that's the one I was referring to. Didn't know about that figure.

I was perusing ebay a few weeks ago and stumbled across a fellow STS member's listings I just had to pull the trigger on. The Bullyland Dire Wolf! Of course it is not truly a good representative of the species but its been a low key grail for sometime and I was desperately looking for a reasonably priced one. I was kicking myself on missing out on one for double the cost of this a few weeks earlier.

Bullyland made 3 figures with the exact same mold (but with different colors ) : Wolf / Arctic Wolf ( Alaskan ) / Dire Wolf .
Wolf was grey.
Artic Wolf was white and light grey.
Dire Wolf was brownish.
It seems that you found an Artic Wolf.

In my collection I've got a Bullyland Wolf (grey version):

Good for you, it is sort of a 'holy grail' for me too. Been looking sporadically for several years, but had given up. This gives me hope.
