Saurophaganax just takes one bite and then goes to another part of the carcass. Very inefficient!

There was pineapple on that slice  :))

I was starting to run out of space, so I bought a new mini shelving unit.

I've put this shelf on top of my bookcase, which also functions as my secondary display space. The shelf where I used to keep my miscellaneous 1:35-1:40 figures is on my main display cabinet, which I'd like to keep just for formation displays, so I've moved all of them onto here. I've put my BOTMs on the lower level and some random other figures in front.

(I'm basically almost out of space again, but oh well, I'll figure it out  ::) )

Tell me one collector who does not have space problems :))

Very nice collection in your photo :)  What is the plesiosauroid above the two Kentrosaurus?

Thanks!

That's the Colorata Futabasaurus.

Just got my hands on the Papo Pentaceratops.

I'd been thinking about getting this figure for a while, and when I saw it second-hand on eBay for a bargain price I snapped it up.

I'm not sure why everyone seems to rate the Haolonggood Pentaceratops much higher than this one. Aesthetically I prefer the Papo, and it doesn't have any major inaccuracies I'm aware of apart from the missing fifth toe on the front feet (which doesn't bother me much). The characteristic hump also seems to me to be better represented on this figure.

Rather fond of this one myself. I display it near the HLG one, in fact. The HLG didn't replace it, rather it supplemented it.

Sim

The hump on the Papo Pentaceratops bothers me as animals with that kind of hump have it to support muscles that carry a heavy head.  On the Papo figure it looks like a sail, which I think is most likely inaccurate.  The hump looks more realistic on the Haolonggood figure, to me.

Elengassen

avatar_Sim @Sim that's a fair point. I wouldn't call it a sail – it looks roughly like an equilateral triangle in cross-section to me – but it's certainly not as buried in muscle as on HLG's representation.

"Eek! A raptor!"

Just realised the Penta's pose is perfect for this.
(Kaiyodo Dakotaraptor standing in for one of the indeterminate dromaeosaurs from the Kirtland/Fruitland Formations.)

I think the pose would also work if Pentaceratops has a phobia of roaches or small mammals.

Horseshoe Canyon/St Mary River Formations (Canada), c. 1:35 scale

  • Albertosaurus (Carnegie)
  • Edmontonia longiceps (Haolonggood)
  • Edmontosaurus regalis (Haolonggood)
  • Ornithomimus (Kaiyodo)
  • Regaliceratops (CollectA)

Finally got round to replacing my Safari Edmontosaurus with the Haolongood. Looking forward to the day I can replace the Albertosaurus  :P

If you get the Carnegie Safari replaced by the PNSO one, consider getting it "lipped" by a paleoartist such as Bravo Models. I did, and it's worth it (though not inexpensive).

Concavenator

S @SidB That'd be an option, and another one would be getting Safari's WS one (which has lips and is in about 1:35 scale) and having it repainted, since IIRC avatar_Elengassen @Elengassen is not a fan of that figure's colors.

Personally, I think Safari's Albertosaurus is as good as it gets, but I respect if others think differently. I know some people were not fond of that figure's coloration. I'd guess that having that figure repainted would be cheaper than having PNSO's Albertosaurus modified to have lips.

There's also an albertosaurine coming from Showanna, which I guess will have lips and a more "conservative" color scheme:

50 % chance of it being Albertosaurus:P Based on that silhouette, I can't confidently tell if that's Albertosaurus or Gorgosaurus, I have a lot of trouble telling the two apart.

SidB

Very good suggestion, avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator , the Safari option would be very much less expensive and it's a fine figure. I should know as I have it! A repaint, as you pointed out, would definitely be in order, of course.

Elengassen

S @SidB avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator I'm waiting to see what Showanna comes out with, or if Haolonggood decides to make one (with lips!) Otherwise I may eventually get the Safari and have it repainted (or try it myself if I'm feeling ambitious  ;D )

Thanks! I'd like to make them more interesting with a few bits of scenery, but the options are quite limited unless I want to buy the same CollectA plants over and over  :-\
