Megalosaurus

Will add others as they're announced. Rumor has it there will be one or more prehistoric-themed Toobs.

Hoping that it's a set of small animals like the Cambrian one (Mammals or Mesozoic Reptiles maybe?) rather than just normal animals at mini scale for no reason
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

"For no reason".

Just because something does not appeal to you specifically does not mean there is no reason for it to exist.

TOOBs are quite popular and many children, teachers, parents and even collectors enjoy having smaller figurines in themed sets.

I am very choosy about what figures I buy these days. I collect action figures first and foremost, and like everything to be in scale so selections of small animals to flesh out scenes or settings are exactly what I tend to go for. I'm that person who hasn't bought a Safari dinosaur in 5+ years but owns 3 Everglades toobs.

I'm hopeful more prehistoric toobs come someday, small pterosaurs or "misc" small prehistoric creatures would be awesome. Picture a toob set with like, a Rhamphorynchus, Diplocaulus, trilobite, Kuhneosaurus, etc. etc.

The only prehistoric too I can imagine Safari releasing at this point that isn't dinosaur-themed is pterosaurs.  If Safari includes an accurate Rhamphorhynchus in such a toob I would be so happy and satisfied!  I can imagine Safari making a small dinosaurs toob as well, and I hope it will happen someday, I would like to have a small figure of Scutellosaurus and Eoraptor!  I also VERY much want small figures of dromaeosaurids and I'm hoping Safari makes a toob for them!

I imagine a new prehistoric TOOB from Safari would be like many of their recent TOOBs, a mix of animals both large and small, familiar and obscure. It has been so long since we've gotten a prehistoric TOOB that I would probably buy one regardless, voting with my wallet and all that. It has also been so long that I can't help but think the sculpts would be greatly improved over anything we've seen in the past. The quality of recent TOOBs like the Everglades, Europe, and Sahara is phenomenal.

I love Safari's animal TOOBS. Especially ones with small reptiles, birds, and amphibians. They are great for the types of displays I have.

Good point about the recent quality of Safari toobs.  I hope the sculpts will indeed be better than ever, even though avatar_Doug Watson @Doug Watson's sculpts for the feathered dinosaur toob are generally excellent.  The Beipiaosaurus and Caudipteryx are still the best toy versions of those genera, the Dilong is tied with Colorata and Carnegie's, and the dromaeosaurids are all outdated unfortunately.  This last point is a reason I very much hope for new mini dromaeosaurid sculpts!
I too think new toobs for Safari will most likely be composaed of a mix of large and small animals, obscure and well-known too.  But if these new ones do well enough I hope Safari will make a small dinosaur toob too.

I've said this before, but I'd be delighted to see 2.0 versions of the basic Dinos and the Feathered Dinos toobs. I agree most of the latter toob sculpts are still very good, and could even be repurposed for the regular dino toob; then you just fill in the gaps of both toobs with brand-new sculpts of appropriate animals.

It does occur to me, though, as someone else wanting this, that a pterosaur toob might be tricky to engineer. Pterosaurs are proportioned differently than dinosaurs, and might be harder to contain within the restraints of the toob. I certainly still hope we get one someday, but it occurred to me this might be a reason we haven't seen one yet (provided Safari ltd. has seriously entertained the prospect).

Pachyrhinosaurus

I've been thinking it would be nice to see some of the older toobs redone as well. Maybe a new prehistoric toob with new sculpts of all the classics. Or a refreshed "wild" toob since that was one of my favorites. I'd switch the crocodile and panther for alligator and kangaroo, for better global representation.

Some of this discussion is perhaps better suited to the hopes & dreams thread.

Shouldn't we post a memorial post for Ramona Pariente who passed away last week?

Maybe. 🤔

:-\ So I saw it on Facebook and Instagram but I didn't know Ramona Pariente was passed away. So I'm very sorry to hear that.

Faelrin

I unfortunately was not familiar with her. So I searched the name. One of the prior owners of them. That's sad to see, and my condolences to her family and friends, and to anyone else impacted by her loss.

Ordered one, as to my eyes this seems to be the very best of Safari's recent introductions. I'm quite curious to see if it looks as amazing in detail and paint application as it appears on the promotional images. Although I also have the PNSO Megalosaurus, this Safari seemed too good to pass up. I'll post a comparison picture on the new acquisitions page when mine comes in from Dejankins.
Also, it doesn't seem to me that this is a Doug Watson figure (though I could be wrong, for sure) - does anyone know who is the paleoartist that sculpted this piece?
