Quote from: BlueKrono on January 05, 2025, 07:57:16 PMThe Invicta's that big? 🙀

I think it's more a case of the other ones being so small.

I was under the impression that the Invictas were made to be more or less in scale with each other. My Dimetrodon is quite diminutive. I was thinking if this Troodon was similar the others would have to be nigh microscopic.

:)) As to scale, some of the Invictas are out of line. Their Stenonychosaurus is disproportionately big while the blue whale is disproportionately too small. The Lambeosaurus and the Muttaburrasaurus don´t really fit into the scale, either.

SidB

I'd always read, back in the day, that the general scale, nominally, was 1/45 for the Invictas. Of course, there were the exceptions. The Steny and Blue Whale were obviously the most blatant of those.

Elengassen

I believe the stated scale for the Invicta Stenonychosaurus is 1:12, which seems about right. For the blue whale it was something like 1:140 (not sure, as I've never got around to getting it).
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Here we have the two in direct comparison:

Halichoeres

Off topic a bit, but I love the Cambrian-themed ruler!

I actually have a Safari Scutosaurus. Just recently, so I've been told, it is said to be highly sought after.  Glad I got mine 12 or so years ago!

SidB

I'm in the same boat on this one, avatar_Libraraptor @Libraraptor . Glad that I held onto mine.

Why is it rare? Did it have an unusually limited distribution or production run or something? (I have one)

Well, on ebay it is available not under 70 GBP, in most cases it´s even much more expensive.

Halichoeres

It was only in production for something like four years. I love it but I doubt it was very popular. To a kid it might have looked a little inert.

Have a kid at the gift shop choose between that "turtle" and a T. rex...

 ::D T.rex is a no-brainer for most kids, that´s for sure!

2 x Andrewsarchus: Hinstar (top) and Bullyland (bottom)

Halichoeres

Oh wow, one doesn't see those Hinstars around very often! A very interesting specimen.

Tat Hinstar is remarkable, avatar_Libraraptor @Libraraptor . I didn't know that the line existed - do you have others?

Yes, their Moeritherium (see link below).  It's very strange how I came to this figure anyway. I had to produce a story about a male kindergarten director for a local magazine. Male educators are unfortunately very rare in Germany, and they are even rarer in leadership positions. And while we were strolling through the location, I spotted this specimen on the windowsill.  :o  I availed it through a donation to the coffee fund.
I know that they did a Moeritherium which I own, too. Eleven or so years ago we discussed it in the Identification thread:

I also found out that Hinstar produced wrestling figures or Ninja characters.

avatar_Libraraptor @Libraraptor The Hinstar Moeritherium and Andrewsarchus are two of my most wanted figures.

What probably makes them harder to find is that they look as inconspicuous as average toy box figures and not like highly sought-after collectibles.

Thanks, avatar_Libraraptor @Libraraptor . That's intriguing - but I'm guessing that we won't easily be able to find out much more about them. As I mentioned, I've never even seen one of these; maybe the line never even reached North America.

Not directly a figure, but I found this watch in a lot. Combines both my passions for prehistory and CASIO watch collecting. This one shows an Edaphosaurus.
My father, who is currently on vacation in Turkey, had the battery replaced and a new wristband installed. These CASIO-watches are very collectible and you don´t get them in good condition for a reasonable price that often.
