Quote from: Elengassen on April 09, 2025, 01:33:46 PMA couple of recent lucky eBay finds: the Invicta Dimetrodon and the Toyway WWD Leaellynasaura:

The Dimetrodon has been one of my most sought-after figures for a while, and it's actually the last figure I needed in order to complete my (unpainted) Invicta collection. Sadly, I can't show them all together at the moment, as most of them are in storage at my parents' house.

I was never really planning to get the Leaellynasaura, but when I saw it in a lot for cheap I jumped at the opportunity, and now that I have it in hand I actually like it quite a lot. I'll be using it as a Dryosaurus on my Morrison Formation shelf.
I adore that Toyway WWD line, and that Leaellynasaura was the last figure I got to complete my collection. I remember scouring dino toy bundles on eBay for ages trying to find it for a good price. After 2 years I gave up and decided my time was worth more than my money. I think I bought mine for the ridiculous price of £80.
How much did you manage to gets yours for?

You might feel envious when I tell you... slightly over £20 including postage  ;D

(Although I do spend a lot of my time scrolling through eBay listings hoping to find something  :*D )

Whoa, that's a good find! :D
Besides the Ophthalmosaurus and Leaellynasaura, the rest I managed to find in super cheap lots. By far my best find was the Liopleurodon for just £7 including postage. But absolutely no luck with the Leaellynasaura.

...and don't get me started on that holy grail of an Ornithocheirus...

Funny thing about that – as a kid, I was subscribed to the monthly magazine that was giving away free copies of the Ornithocheirus. Every month they'd hold a drawing competition, and the winners (I think there were multiple) would win one as a prize. Having no idea of its future value, I never submitted, but if I could go back in time, I would bust out my best drawing skills and submit multiple entries each month under different aliases  :P

I've had the new REBOR Vastatosaurus for about a week now, and I'm diggin' it! Came out of the box with a bit of an issue standing up. It would stand, but was very unstable. Some ApoxieSculpt toe pads fixed that, and it's rock solid now!

Obviously a more sophisticated sculpt than the V1 Vanilla Ice, not as nice as the Nanmu though.

Some recent acquisitions:

Spoiler
- Safari Anzu (another copy).
- Safari Cryolophosaurus.
- PNSO Deinocheirus.
- PNSO Suchomimus.
- HAOLONGGOOD Megaraptor.
- PNSO Edmontosaurus.
- HAOLONGGOOD Diabloceratops (the other color variant, which I prefer over the one I had).
- HAOLONGGOOD Majungasaurus (ditto as above).

Yes there are some famous figures here.
The HLG triceratops is insanely good, we really are at a peak in terms of figure quality.
It's crazy to go back in time 20 years ago and compare what we had with now.

I have a rule to keep only one figure peer specie though, I might sell the PNSO Triceratops that I really enjoy, even if they form a nice familly.
I don't know, it's a bit hard choice for me but I need space.

I also wanted a girafe figure since it's one of our tallest animal nowadays, and honestly it's quite big even compare to some of those prehistoric animals.

Trenchcoated Rebbachisaur

The HLG Triceratops is based on a specific specimen while the PNSO is a more generic Trike, if that helps!

Speaking of PNSO, a bunch of the Minis EverythingDinosaur doesn't carry popped up on AliExpress today and I got a bunch! Didn't expect to get my hands on the Tianyulong and Sinosauropteryx, still, so I'm pretty happy about that, and the Yi will do nicely next to the other "birds"!

Not looking forward to opening those godforsaken plastic containers the newer minis came in but what can you do lol xP

Oh ok thanks, that's a good reason to keep the PNSO as well.

PrimevalRaptor

Been going back and forth in this guy but did finally decide to pick up the Mattel Styxosaurus. It's of course far from perfect (and has a second row of teeth in the upper jaw?) but I do like the coloration a lot and the overall design is very striking

BlueKrono

I love it. I'd like to review this figure unless someone else has already claimed it.

Quote from: Carnoking on April 04, 2025, 01:16:40 PMLooks like I'm back to my regularly scheduled nonsense for the month of March but between a birthday celebration and Target Circle deals too good to ignore, I can't say I'm too surprised by the amount of pickups. Plus there was the arrival of my pre-ordered HLG brach, a museum visit or two, and the usual random eBay finds  :*D

Spoiler

I remember seeing a lot of the PNSO Basilosaurus around several years back, and I always felt a nostalgic pull to pick one up thanks to WWB (which I surprisingly enjoyed watching more than WWD growing up) but never got around to it and soon enough they dropped off the map. I've noticed them cropping up again recently but given how shoddy later production runs can be, I was hesitant to finally pull the trigger until I came across this decent looking older used copy on eBay. Glad to finally have one, it feels like a piece of childhood!

And it looks good next to my tooth ;D

Picked up the Safari Woolly Rhino during a belated birthday visit to my state museum this past weekend. Although their selection of prehistoric models in the gift shop has shrunk considerably (and quite depressingly I might add), it's nice they had this Ice Age icon on offer.

Spoiler

Always need more teeth!

Finally came across the Safari Nasutoceratops at a price I could accept. I had one a few years back but foolishly sold it off, only to learn how difficult they are to find anymore. At long last, balance is restored, and I believe this is the last Doug Watson ceratopsian figure I was missing? Really a shame we don't see more of these any more.

Spoiler

Had to get some HLG comparisons in there too.

And I have once again danced with the devil that is Target Circles week >:D

Patience paid off with this Reimagined Carno. Between the sales, a birthday coupon and gift card acquired through grocery shopping, I think I paid all of 12 bucks for this guy. Well worth it I would say!

Also picked up a couple of extra HC figures. The first Allo was actually a birthday gift but then I got a second basically for free when I decided to get another Atrociraptor and Scuto pair.

And then of course there was the Diplodocus. Feels kind of dumb to have bought one of these when I don't even have a place to put it, not to mention we have the upcoming Titanosaurus to worry about :-[  But again, those sale prices  :*D

But of course the real show stopper this month was the arrival of my HLG Brach. An absolute BEAST of a figure and one of the best I've seen from them!

Spoiler

The fact that it came with a Huayangosaurus, a figure I thought I would never get after sitting out the Argentionsaurus pre-order, is just icing on the cake.

Also, I feel like I never share my paleontology related book pickups here, which are quickly becoming an unwieldy collection in their own right. There's a used book store I like to visit from time to time and it would seem someone recently parted with several Indiana Press Life of the Past books and between the relatively cheap prices and the desire to support an actual brick and mortar book store in this day and age, I couldn't very well pass these up. Will I ever sit down and read any of these cover to cover? Unlikely, but just having them on my shelves adds to the aura!

When you get the chance don't feel bad about the buying it.  Despite the size, I found a place for my Diplo. I did have to rearrange a lot.  The little Scutoaurus on the other hand, easy to slip into the collection.

I believe the PNSO is a Triceratops horridus while the Haolonggood is a currently unnamed third species of Triceratops.
