Do you collect anything else?

I collect Pokemon Cards (been doing so for over 25 years, sometimes the hobby is dormant and sometimes very active but it's never gone)
Also some random stuff related to anime/video game characters I like
And books... books take up the biggest time, space and money for sure and between my small apartment and those huge stacks of books, I don't really know where to put them anymore (yes, I do read them too, but buying them goes a lot faster, sadly)

Fossils, rocks and minerals, and animal bones/skulls.

Torvosaurus

28mm historical, fantasy and sci-fi figures. The dinosaur collection actually started from my D&D figures, so I guess they're kind of related, maybe. I guess you could say I collect books. I started collecting Britains zoo animals as well, but I haven't added to that collection in a long time, since I was a teenager.

My main collection is dinosaurs and exotic animals. I did have several reptiles and fish although I now only have my leopard gecko (in terms of exotic animals). When I get in a more stable living situation instead of bouncing around North America for school, I will be getting more animals. I also do collect Godzilla and transformers although those are more recent and I don't prioritize them as much as dinosaurs, and as I get them rather sparsely I don't have too many. I also have a few fossils and plan to get many more eventually. I will also pick up the odd thing like a modern day animal figure or a figure of something else I like such as games, once in a blue moon.

Faelrin

Over the years I've picked up a number of amiibo (freshly after Smash Ultimate released, but also for other games in the Metroid and Zelda series), HTTYD figures, fantasy creature figures (mostly Safari, but a few others), and in recent years specifically werewolf action figures. Oh and I have a few funko pops too that were gifted to me over the years.

You can see most of the amiibo, and HTTYD figures I have in my collection thread in these posts:

Once I was gifted a couple of Masters of the Universe Origins figures, which turned out to be my gateway drug into going all in and collecting the lot of them. I love the figures, the characters they represent and the nostalgia, but looking back I kind regret getting too deeply involved in collecting them. There are just too many, and the flesh is/was weak. Alas.

Another thing I collect that's a lot more practical in nature are vinyl records of rather obscure music. I love doing the research on an artist, their musical output, evolution, etc. Playing a vinyl is also a very physical, analogue and tactile experience - something that is too often missing in my life.

I relate to this! However, I came of age during the reign of the CD. Now I worry about degradation of the plastic and wish I had vinyl instead.

Oh dear, the degredation is a major worry for me as well. I think we came of age around the same time - back in those days I was a rather avid CD collector as well, but indeed: there will be a time when those will become unplayable and are nothing more than a useless object.

I do cherish fond memories of my CD and tape collecting and trading days. It was before online shops were a thing. I would learn about a new release through a physical flyer or word to mouth, send well concealed money in an enveloppe all over the world after which the waiting game began. Sometimes it would take months for an album to arrive home - Indonesia, Japan, Ukraine, Chile, they would come from everywhere. The joy to finally receive the music and listen to tunes from a far away land was quite a special feeling indeed.

Paleodude

These days I've been expanding out my curiosities to other toys. Transformers fever has hit me hard as of late as I really enjoy fiddling with them and learning the puzzle to get them from one form to another. Outside of that I've been gunning for a complete set of Tops Dinosaur Attack and with every museum I've visited I've tried to collect a post card to hand on my wall. It's a really nice visual way to see just how many places I've been while in
the field.

Visiting baseball stadiums is another big hobby of mine, everything from NCAA college to the major leagues, and I collect one scorecard and, if available, one ice cream helmet from each stadium I visit. I may get additional scorecards if the stadium or team names changes (or if I score something exciting, like a no-hitter) and likewise I'll get more helmets if the design changes.

I used to collect stadium giveaways (e.g., bobbleheads), but I gave most away and only do scorecards and helmets now.

I am quoting myself to show the helmets (alphabetical by franchise/city name). Looks like I need a new shelf. At the end of the month I am going on my annual trip to Philadelphia (the Phillies are not new for me, but they are my travel buddy). We will be hitting up a couple minor league stadiums, too, so if all goes well the shelf will be full after this trip LOL
