If you're gonna make a figure of a prosauropod, something that's a rarity, why not make a Plateosaurus instead of a Lufengosaurus, especially since the latter got a top-notch figure from PNSO already? Will we ever get another Plateosaurus figure?

Having said that, I do prefer TNG's color scheme over PNSO's. Not because PNSO's is flashy (I like flashy color schemes), I'm just not a fan of the color scheme they chose for that particular figure. Either way, both are a skip for me, I'm just not interested in that species.

I fully agree with the Plateosaurus case, I don't know why it's getting that much overlooked.

I'm curious why you find Plateosaurus more interesting than Lufengosaurus.

Lufengosaurus is great, and I'm really glad for the recent surge in figures for it, and I can definitely see their domestic market's appeal for it, being found in their country, but Plateosaurus would also be great, being that it is one among the first dinosaurs named. Come to think of it, Thecodontosaurus as well.

Then again I'd also like figures of Mussaurus (with a cute little baby one) and Sarahsaurus as well. Massospondylus is another. And of course Eoraptor (other then the Mattel one), being one of the first true dinosaurs, and one of the earliest sauropodomorph dinosaurs. Non sauropod sauropodomorphs as a whole are so poorly represented, even though there's a good number of them worth doing (good remains, part of an interesting ecosystem, etc).

Anchisaurus is another I'd like being that is one of the few dinosaurs from New England, where I'm originally from.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres I also share the same opinion, but i have my own reasons.

As far as I know plateosaurus is more well documented.

We know a good deal about the inspecies diversity of the animal.

It is not only a dinosaur from Germany (which find very interesting for paleontological and archeological already) but it is from triassic, which I love to learn about.

It is the "archetypal prosauropod" but despite being an archetype it is not so represented.

Don't get me wrong other Basal Sauropodmorphs deserve love too, especially Massospondylus, Lufengosaurus, etc.

Fembrogon

More diversity of early sauropodmorphs would definitely be preferred. Hopefully TNG doing Lufengosaurus at least implies that genus has been selling well from other companies, which MIGHT encourage the production of Plateosaurus, Massospondylus, etc down the line as well.

Trenchcoated Rebbachisaur

Prosauropods leaving "Never gets any good figures" hell due to Lufengosaurus would be pretty cool!

Plateosaurus is also known from Canada, so I agree we need a good one!

Basically for the reasons avatar_Stegotyranno420 @Stegotyranno420 provided. In addition to what he said, I'd also add that it's one of, if not the, most iconic Triassic dinosaur. So that alone should grant it way more popularity than what it's (pitifully) receiving. But of course, the Triassic is almost nonexistent to model companies (as you're well aware of). Considering that, and again, the reasons Plateosaurus is important for, if there is a single "prosauropod" to have good figures to its name, the way I see it, that should be Plateosaurus.

And BTW, just to clarify, I didn't intend to say that Lufengosaurus is uninteresting - I don't think it is, plus it actually is an important and very well-known animal on its own right. So it's good that between the PNSO, and maybe the TNG too, it's been made justice in figure form. It deserves it.

I think basal sauropodomorphs are interesting creatures, way overlooked. Which goes to say that a new Plateosaurus figure is seriously needed (not that this is a shocker to anyone). And with some Plateosaurus specimens being almost 10 m long, size is not an excuse this time!

Halichoeres

Gotcha, thanks for explaining.

Yeah, if they had made Mussaurus, Anchisaurus, or Massospondylus I would snap it up. But I'm all set for Lufengosaurus.

Now available on both AliExpress and Lana Time Shop!
Look forward to receiving my order, any day now. Hope that the wait for the release of the Paraceratherium
isn't too long.

Flaffy

Unboxing of the TNG Megatherium.

Nehalennia

She's here! Lovely model, finally one that does this species justice. Great modelling chock full of detail, a big and hefty animal and a good paint job. Definitely one of TNGs best models to date. I hope they continue making extinct Cenozoic mammals.

SidB

I'm grateful that TNG has taken the initiative in producing these mammals, all of high quality. Other than the  one per year by CollectA and an occasional one by Mojo, there isn't much else around. It puts me in an expansive mood, willing to give them a pass on the odd quibble or so.

As per Paleofiguras on Instagram:

"TNG Paraceratherium

(Temporarily postponed)

For those who were asking about this figure, we have some not-so-good news: The one that promised to be one of the star releases of its prehistoric megafauna line has been temporarily postponed due to constraints on production teams.

However, they are gauging public interest in deciding whether it is worth investing in new machinery and even contemplating launching a funding campaign to make this project a reality."

That's a shame I was really looking forward to this one!!

suspsy

I'm not surprised. TNG may want to stick to smaller genera.

From my perspective, it's unfortunate as this was my most anticipated figure of 2025. I do have both of the CollectA ones, so I may see if I can get the newer one modified to get rid of the "mangey" look.

The Megatherium with corrected forelimb digits (no thumbs) -

Cost me all of 20 dollars to get this correction made, so I'm as as happy as a clam.

As per Paleofiguras on Facebook:

#TNG | Paraceratherium 1:35.

Good news for those who were waiting for this figure, they have confirmed that it will not be canceled and have taken the decision to launch a fundraising campaign, which represents a final push to make its production possible.
