It looks like the Buck does get a new head sculpt, at least the upper portion of it. New feet too I think?

Looks like it? The bottom seems like a bulkier male jaw too.  And it has proper sized feet.

On another note does anyone have the series 2 mini code for the elasmosaurus? Got a friend that needs it.  I did get the  Dreadnoghtus it's a massive mini.

Paint job feels a bit slapdash in places, and I do miss the thick neck.

All the same, I know better than to sleep on these SDCC releases.

Of course Mattel is making one of the most wanted dinosaurs a Comic Con exclusive.  ::) On the bright side, it's not a big improvement over the first HC T. rex. The feet might be smaller but they still look too large and the toy doesn't come close to reaching the bar set by the Spinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, and Carnotaurus. Honestly, I like the guy in the costume and the packaging more than the T. rex, but not enough to buy this.

Still holding out hope that Mattel will deliver a bull T. rex in 2027 for the 30 year anniversary of The Lost World. If not the bull then maybe a Rebirth T. rex at some point.

Much thanks. 😊

I think they did new sharper teeth in their acted as well?

I think with all the accessories and packaging it's worth it.  I was really hoping for a JW release though .

I would say it's highly likely HC gets another wide release rex at some point.

Now, whether it's an all new updated sculpt? I'm 50/50 on that.

HC isn't that old but the T. rex is definitely part of an older style compared to the stars of the line like Spino, Giga, Carno, Allo, etc.

So it could definitely benefit from a new release (I'd guess one based on a JW or Rebirth design) with a new sculpt that includes the more sculpt-favoring design elements from the better, later HC releases...

BUT, Mattel must know how in-demand the current HC rex is on the secondary market, and that there's easy money to be made by simply re-releasing the previous Rex sculpt, maybe with a slight repaint and/or retool.

Could go either way I feel.

Naturally, if you wait for a retail version, it'll never happen, but if you go through the effort to get the SDCC exclusive, they'll rerelease the Buck.  :P

I prefer to err on the side of caution with such matters. If anything, I'm certain the exclusive would be easy enough to re-home down the line if a better option becomes available

I'll probably pick this up, love the dino costume and I don't have a HC Rex yet

The guy in the suit is pretty great.

Love the recursive packaging. I wonder if there's a box within the box within the box.

I feel like this set is an homage within an homage on several levels.

Am I wrong or does the one suit face look like Haruo Nakajima?

Hoe does one get SDCC figures without visiting? Is it just scalpers?

The set will be available on the Mattel Creations website, there's a countdown clock currently.

https://creations.mattel.com/products/jurassic-world-tyrannosaurus-rex-convention-crasher-jcg29

Your best bet is to be ready on the site when the product release happens at 9 am PT (noon ET) on July 24th.

Most companies have a way to get the exclusives on their websites at some point before, during or shortly after the con. You just have to keep up with the different companies and their process.

NECA, for example, had an online pre-sale for their exclusives last week. Hasbro has said their exclusives will go up on Hasbro Pulse at a later date, to be determined after the show. Premium members will likely get first crack (you pay $50 a year for free shipping and early access to items).

For the exclusives you want, it helps to sign up for the company's email alerts and stay on top of their social media accounts, because they all do it different.

S @Shane geez that's so much to keep track of. Must be frustrating for fans.
