You get a poster and a little book with this model (like virtually all PNSO figures) and the book does have a Dinocephalosaurus skeletal in it. It seems to match proportionally to the figure well enough at a glancebut I didn't spend much time comparing. I was also curious and compared it to the David Peters skeletal too and they didn't look very alike to me at all. But again, I didn't really analyse it for long.
I binned the book and poster immediately after so I can't share an image of it.

I wonder where they got that skeletal and if it sheds any light on the figures accuracy

I'm sure the skeletal was an original diagram by PNSO. But I would like to know how they came to their proportion conclusions. I kind of wish I took a picture of the skeletal before I recycled the book! XD
Sorry about that. You might be able to find a video review of someone flicking through the book somewhere if you really want to go hunting for it.

oh no worries man I'm sure someone on here has it, odd that pnso would've made there own. I respect pnsos attention to accuracy so this figure and potentially the skeletal they made has me interested in that aspect

Quote from: Turkeysaurus on August 03, 2025, 08:05:06 PMInternet says largest specimens can reach 6 metres max.

Compared to max 6 m lenght that would make 1:25 for official, probably around 1:22-23 for along the centra.

This is what I found:

The largest individual is a shade over 6 m, maybe 6.3 m or so.

But yeah, what you mentioned is why I thought it'd be around that scale for a specimen that's as large as that one.

Had it been smaller, I would've been interested, but it's a bit too big for me. Still a cool release, the only species they've released this year that I find interesting. But still no PNSO 2025 figure is for me yet.

Quote from: Concavenator on August 03, 2025, 06:33:31 PMB @bmathison1972 Could you share what scale do you get it's made in (with the biggest specimens in mind)? I think it might be bigger than 1:30 for said specimens, probably around 1:25 or so.

Sorry I was traveling for work. Based on your other posts since, do you still need this information? If so, not sure when I can get around to it, possibly not until the weekend, as I have to research predicted ranges or metrics from fossils, etc. I can do it, but it unlikely won't be until the weekend at the earliest.

B @bmathison1972 Don't worry, I'm not in a hurry lol. If you post about the Dinocephalosaurus in your collection thread, I'll see it anyways.  :)

COME ON PNSO! RELEASE THAT FULLY LIPPED TYRANNOSAURUS REX!

Berno

After seeing different neck and tail lengths in different reconstructions around the web, I think the skull size can help to calculate an approximate scale.
The largest known skull of Dinocephalosaurus orientalis and has a total length of 23 cm.
Anyone know the skull size of the model?

Looks like PNSO is on a Triassic Chinese marine fauna roll, and I'm here for it  :))
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

This is perhaps their nicest ichthyosaur yet - and the weirdest looking proportionally. The subtle stripes on the tail and faded tail fin tips make this one of their most natural looking paint schemes in a long time. A lot more natural-looking than their last ichthyosaur. Can't say I've ever heard of this species but it looks fantastic and I'm all for this spree of aquatic critters.

...now give us a plesiosaur! :D

The ancient sea reptile streak continues. One more after this to match the Ceratopsian output before it, 2 more to exceed it. Let's see if they keep up the momentum

Faelrin

I am excited to see this. I too wasn't familiar with this one, but this is fascinating. So this one could get to over 8 meters long, with a juvenile over 3 meters. Not exactly Ichthyotitan, or even Shonisaurus and Shastasaurus, but still pretty sizable. Aside from CollectA, ichthyosaurs have been pretty sparse on the market, so it is nice PNSO is contributing as well (aside from their earlier ones). I hope we get at least one more from them while they are still doing Triassic period marine reptiles.

Monkeysaurus

Great sculpt that I will definitely pick up. I'm always amazed at how often nature keeps selecting the same body type over and over again. You could've told me it was a type of dolphin if I didn't know any better. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Do we know where their nostrils were? Obviously I see the indent for its nose but is this speculation or do we know it was actually located there?
Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean

I'm really digging this marine reptile streak that PNSO is on.  *-*

It looks nice, but it doesn't excite me  personally. It's high time we got another pliosaur or mosasaur. Or better yet, a Purussaurus to go with the Safari Sarcosuchus and the Haolonggood Deinosuchus.

Me too. When I started expanding my collection into dinosaurs (sensu lato lol), marine reptiles were a group I initially ignored. I am enjoying these new releases to give me the opportunity to get some new and interesting taxa!

Same. Marine reptiles are one of the weakest aspects of my collection and I've been slowly trying to fix that. Pterosaurs too but nobody likes making pterosaurs and I really only buy ones that are in resting poses.
