I don't see how 2 mins or so mattered much in length. Better to at least show them than cut them entirely, unless they are planning to use the design later.

Is that orange one the same one in this set? Hard for me tell.

Also Collect Jurassic shared something about some Mattel figures and Funko pops showed up in the film, like the baby Apatosaurus, Gallimimus, and the Guanlong that released last year.

Supposed to be I'm sure. It's interesting these don't have the female hierarchy of the Sorna JP3 raptors, it looks like there is an alpha male in control? Assuming this orangy one is a female.

I noticed my Bluray order of the movie on Amazon changed to Sept 9th for release.

So I probably should have watched to the end of it first. It had a better look at the orange one, which the toy is definitely based on. As I'm still behind on seeing it, I'm wondering if it showed up in the film or just this deleted scene. Either way neat to have a figure of it regardless, as well as the striped one use in marketing and on some merch.

No it did, it was just blurry and dark.

Yeah I guess thats it. has the right color. I don't know why the camera couldn't focus on them instead of the dude..

A few weeks after whatching it and I must say...it is the first JP/JW-Movie which haven't made an impact for me. Even "Dominion" gave my thoughts. But this..."no, no, no, no, no Ted!"  ;D

I think that's the general consensus even amongst fans, Even people like myself who enjoyed it

It just doesn't do anything new, kills off the previous story, it has this weird sense of disrespect almost to the past films while also trying hard to bring nostalgia from them. It's very odd

Faelrin

I'll be honest, I still have yet to see this one in theaters, and I doubt I will at this point. Nobody wants to go with me, and I don't like going to the theaters by myself because of my anxiety. That said I actually don't really feel too strongly. Really the only scenes that it would have been impactful to see on the big screen was the Titanosaurus, Mosa/Spino, and T. rex river raft, maybe the end climax, but not a big loss if I see them here at home first. The upside would be no interruptions from strangers talking, on their phones, etc.

Carnoking

It manages to be both too narrow and too broad. The entire impetus of the story lacks clearly defined, immediate stakes and the entire adventure is deflated as a result. The whole angle of using dinosaurs to cure heart disease is way too general of a goal for audiences to latch onto. Now, if Zora's mother was kept alive but gravely ill and her survival depended on the success of the mission, then we have something more tangible to lock onto.
Alternatively, why even heart disease to begin with? If we wanted some more immediate, global consequences, why not some disease that's jumping from the mainland dinosaurs to livestock and now to people, threatening a global pandemic that can be stopped by retrieving healthy genes from isolated animals on an island?

I mean, I'm just spit balling here but it goes to show what could have been if Universal hadn't fast tracked this production and Keopp actually had time for a second draft.

Pachyrhinosaurus

avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking I thought it would have been a great way to introduce the DX plot from TLW, which would also have been a better excuse for killing off the mainland dinosaurs in rebirth.

Word!

BTW: I still can't figure it out why the movie was named "Rebirth". Rebirth of who? In fact acording to the movie's agenda and taggline we had more dying than living dinosaurs in the world...

Don't get me wrong. The three other JW-Films had their problems, but the vision of a world populated with dinosaurus was captivated in their titles...the amusement park "Jurassic World" turns in a real modern "Jurassic World"....

Well I finally watched it in theaters (with my dad as a birthday thing to do with him), and despite the dumb overall plot (collect the three DNA samples, and especially the whole thing about the dinosaurs dying off and losing public interest, although it barely mattered for much of the following film being on an island again), I found it enjoyable overall. For what it is worth I also enjoy Jurassic Park III.  ::D  Deaths were unfortunately predictable for the most part, as well as who survived, though not when (except two of them, who clearly had it coming). But yeah fun time with it. It helped that I went into it knowing about the disappointing aspects beforehand (like the raptors minimal screen-time) as it kept my expectations leveled for me. Dominion was also such a low bar to clear, and I think this one has surpassed it in being more enjoyable. Some of the dumb mistakes like Henry treating the Mosasaurus and maybe Queztalcoatlus (though he did refer to it as a pterosaur) as dinosaurs was annoying, but perhaps expected from this franchise at this point.

A quick list of species with order of appearance as far as I can remember (some light spoilers obviously):

Spoiler
Two headed Triceratops (containment tube in the lab)
Two headed Mutadon (containment tube in the lab, replaced the two headed raptor in the trailer)
Distortus rex
Apatosaurus (dying or ill, in the city)
Dunkleosteus (head fished up)
Otodus megalodon (jaws, I guess these count?)
baby Pteranodon in a cage (Lost World styled surprisingly, maybe? but like Dominion Dimorphodon small in size)
Spinosaurus (sails)
Mosasaurus
Spinosaurus x4 (better view)
Eel or snake thing (in the swamp)
sail backed amphibian thing (after the swamp)
Aquilops "Dolores"
Velociraptor (1 grey and 1 orange)
Mutadon (eats grey Velociraptor)
Titanosaurus (with birds?)
Pteranodon seen in the distance after the Titanosaurus scene?
Parasaurolophus corpse, with one Dilophosaurus eating it, and one Tyrannosaurus sleeping, all the while Dolores wants more food from Isabella)
sail backed amphibian thing on the tree (after the family escapes the T. rex attack)
Anurognathus (one gets all up in Duncan's face, lol, at the temple top of the cliff)
Quetzalcoatlus
Compsognathus (red in color, after Loomis falls from the cliff into the water below)
Mutadon (more this time around at the gas station place)
Ankylosaurus (Krebs nearly crashes into it with the vehicle)
Distortus rex (and the final encounter)
[close]
Anyways the more in depth review if anyone is curious about my thoughts/reactions:

Spoiler
The intro (D. rex freed from containment):
So I already found this bit kind of hilarious with the trailer, but it was made even worse with the Snickers bar wrapper. For one I thought the whole system crashing down (and needing to reboot like a certain system in a '93 film) because of that was laughably dumb, but considering the prior films it's probably expected from Ingen at this point. Anyways, like I said earlier from what the trailer showed, I felt bad for him, but also found it hilarious how the D. rex grabbed him and ate him like a snack. Made it even funnier to me because now I was thinking of those hangry Snickers commercials. My dad, who went with me, was thinking the same thing lol. Other people were surprisingly in the theater (and some kids too), so I kind of had some self control to keep the laughing internal.

The character background stuff was interesting I guess, but ultimately was pointless for the rest of the film. Like Zora has some trauma from losing people close to her, but it ultimately had no impact on the rest of the film, even when Duncan lost his people, or when she thought Duncan was gone at the end of the film. Isabella seemed to be the only one with character growth other then Zora to a minor degree (wanting some quick big bucks, to wanting to help people through the points Henry brought up). I mean she went from being traumatized from the Spinosaurus/Mosasaurus attack, and hating dinosaurs, to befriending a cute little Aquilops (perhaps rather too quickly?), to being courageous at the end, saving the team from the Mutadon, despite the threat of the Distortus rex as well. Was almost like she knew she had plot armor then. I guess there was that moment with Henry getting to see a live wild kaiju sized sauropod too (more on that later). No other character development that I can recall.

The Mosasaurus was actually terrifying, particularly that shot of it in the water/under the surface, when it attacks the family on their boat. Not just in the immense size factor like a whale. Most of the following scene with the Spinosaurus and Mosasaurus attack was spoiled by the trailer, but with a little bit more meat left to it. The one guy that got eaten had it coming. Totally predictable. Knew that one lady was next when she was by herself, with a resting Spinosaurus nearby. Now I know it wasn't quite the original JPIII Spinosaurus roar, as they supposedly lost that sound file, but that one roar as the crew was escaping from the beach sounded somewhat like it, and definitely tickled the nostalgia for a bit. I do wish we got more screentime with the new Spinosaurus design, considering we got four of them this time around, and with all unique patterns on their sails. Hopefully Jurassic World Evolution 3 fulfills that need.

The Aquilops was cute, especially watching it eat like a racoon with its little hands. Not sure if the real animal could do that, but cute anyways. Sound design was good. That said after watching the Jurassic World Evolution 3 trailer, a paleo accurate Psittacosaurus would have been a good alternative for this role, but maybe too big to fit in a backpack unless it was a younger animal?

Everyone here probably knows the raptors were done dirty by now, so moving on. But I did actually catch wind of the orange one on the right side, which did get away. Seeing the pic avatar_Dilopho @Dilopho shared helps confirm that's correct.

The Titanosaurus scene was really nice. I mean aside from the incorrect excessively long tails, and other aspects, I really love how they handled the behavior of the two in courtship or whatever. Almost felt like a scene from Prehistoric Planet. I won't lie, seeing Henry tear up at the big beast, definitely hit for me. I shed some tears with him at that moment. Then of course the classic JP Brachiosaurus scene them kicked in, and they do move in herds, but man it always makes me so emotional for these beautiful long gone animals. Things like these movies or documentaries like Prehistoric Planet, etc, are the closest we'll ever get to see them aside from fossilized remains and skeletal mounts in museums. We'll never truly get to experience the wonder that they were when they were alive, and man does it sting. One thing I am wondering though is which is bigger. JWR or Ark's Titanosaur? I think JWR's might edge out on Ark's? The Dr. Pepper can lists the JWR Titanosaurus as being 20.7m long, and 15.7m high, rather it's from the official size chart out there, or based on the estimate for the dubious animal. No idea.

The Quetzalcoatlus scene was fun, and I'm glad to see an azhdarchid eat a human in one of these films (or like any paleo media, aside from that Jurassic World concept trailer thing I think). Not as hype as Prehistoric Planet 2's scene with the Hatzegopteryx hunting, but regardless these would definitely be things to fear if they were still around. Was hard for me to tell, but it actually looked naked and scaly, aside from the feathers on its head? Could have sworn it was feathered in the trailers? The toy definitely is too. The renders do show it has a naked scaly neck, with a feathery chest. I think the weird crest on the beak they gave it works well with the temple in the cliff vibes, after seeing it in the theater. Really liked that addition with the Anurognathus at this scene too. Thought it would be a blink and miss it moment, but no it was clearly visible, and rather feisty at that. Despite being smooth or scaly, I like the frog aesthetic for them, and its a nice counterpart to the butterfly bats of JWE2. I hope both will be present in JWE3. Hopefully someday Mattel will do a figure of this one, but they still have yet to do one for Tarbosaurus, Spinoceratops Angel & Rebel, Smilodon, and Oviraptor (and a more screen accurate Iguanodon and Moros). At least Aquilops barely dodged a bullet being in that one set (and a Takara Tomy Ania figure). Oh and I guess those new red Compsognathus need a figure too (other then the fan made ones out there already).

The T. rex river raft scene was as hype as I could ever ask for, after wanting it in one of these films for so long. The behavior felt so natural (other then the obligatory roaring scenes, because it is a Jurassic film still after all). It's great to have another swimming T. rex sequence after Prehistoric Planet, despite this being a thing long before then from the original novel. Still not sure if the Dilophosaurus was bigger then its JP counterpart or not, still too small to be real life sized regardless. Just uh how did the raft not pop from its teeth and bite force though?

Waited all film for that Ankylosaurus, and finally near the end, and the poor thing was almost crashed into with Krebs. Yeah sure the design is basically still the Jurassic World one, but the head is a bit different. Colors looked pretty similar to the World ones too. Brownish, and the render shows this too. Definitely not that nice vivid coloration the Mattel figure has for some reason. Neat repaint, but not at all what the final film one was. Weird that this one got marketing at all with the Dr. Pepper can, etc considering how brief its screen-time was. I mean it was no Jurassic World. More like JPIII again. I'm just happy it was there is all. I love Ankylosaurus in most forms, which includes the retro design it has here (and prior films). I think it's because I grew up with the Marx recasts, despite being a 90's kid. Better rep then the Parasaurolophus a tiny bit (just a corpse, but very cool practical set-piece at least, like the one done up for The Lost World).

The Mutadon were fine, but the raptors could have done just the same. Honestly an oversized scansoriopterygid would have been neat to see too. At least Ark has an upscaled Yi mount thanks to winning a community poll, so there's some rep of these weird dinosaurs out there, but still, a missed opportunity wasted on yet another hybrid. Still I like the wyvern-like design it has, and hope we get a Hammond Collection figure of it someday, despite how out of place it felt being in a Jurassic film (though the whole film didn't really feel much like a Jurassic film to me, despite being on an island with dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Hard to explain, but it felt too different, perhaps because of the plot). The markings are nice too for what they are.

The ending was predictable in who lived and died, and kind of lame, but refreshing in that there was no big dino showdown which has been done in every World film prior. Instead the D. rex can continue to just live without issue. Isn't Mattel also supposed to release a Super Colossal of this one, or did that get canceled at this point? I feel like that would scale better then the mainline toys honestly lol. It also got to the size of a kaiju.

A lot of lines from the first trailer were absent in the film, such as the line from the trailer about the research facility being from the original Jurassic Park, or the animals being too dangerous for the original park, and the please don't say they're raptors line. Considering how much changed with the designs (Titanosaurus) or outright replaced (two headed raptor = two headed mutadon) from the trailers, to the final release, this doesn't surprise me that a lot of that was either stuff added for the trailer, or was removed before the final film was released.

Lastly I really liked the Dunkleosteus cameo (even if it was a dead head, but probably for the best lol), and that weird sailed amphibian thing. No idea what it is supposed to be, but a fun and cute little guy, and glad it showed up again later on. Doubt it will be added to JWE3, or ever get a figure, but still a cool little addition nonetheless. It's very rare to see prehistoric amphibians (real or not) get added to paleo media these days, so I'll gladly take it.

Edit: I almost forgot to mention this, but I was happy the kid in the theater knew the names of some of the animals on screen like the Spinosaurus, and such. Like he would shout their names when they came on the screen in excitement. I restrained myself from doing the same, as much as I wanted to lol. But man, it's good to see kids today still love these animals, and yet again also shows how dumb that one plot point is.

Edit 2: Here's how I'd rate the human characters:

Spoiler
Duncan Kinclaid: not the main protagonist, but a real hero, much like Mr. Kirby in JPIII, who also survived a similar ordeal. No idea how he survived, even though I suppose there was foreshadowing with it on multiple occasions (hide in the water, and the multiple flares he picked up). The fact he cared about rescuing the family, and all his crew/friends, and was hurt by their loss made him feel like he had the most depth of the bunch.
Isabella Delgado: Ultimately another hero by the end, and perhaps the one with the most character development, however brief and rushed it felt. Went from hating dinosaurs to befriending one, and being traumatized by them (and one giant marine reptile), to saving the group at the end from the Mutadon, and staring back at the face of death, despite being terrorized on multiple occasions, some shortly prior.
Henry Loomis: Well his enthusiasm for the animals was at least relatable. Unfortunately leads the helicopter team to their doom at the end, and perhaps leads to another indirectly with Kinclaid's guy getting got by the Quetzalcoatlus.
Zora Bennett: Minor character development, some tragic backstory that amounted to nothing later on, and was just your typical badass woman action heroine for most of the film. Claire was better in some aspects honestly, and had far more character development.
Reuben Delgado: Great dad. Not much more to say about this one, but one of the more likeable characters in the movie I will say. Reminds me a lot of Grant with the kids, in wanting to make sure they are safe and okay. Yeah even one of the scenes with him were also callbacks to Grant's scenes with the kids.
Teresa Delgado: Barely any impact outside of the river raft scene, and getting the raft, and nearly getting killed by Krebs on the boat to set up his character as the villain throughout the film.
Martin Krebs: Painfully obvious villain from the start. Dude felt like a copy of the guy from Fallen Kingdom honestly. Him getting killed was also just as predictable.
Xavier Dobbs: Only redeeming moment was saving his girlfriend, but otherwise just an annoyance. Worse then Franklin in Fallen Kingdom by far, maybe even Amanda Kirby in Jurassic Park III. A real shame those raptors didn't get their dinner with him.
Everybody else that was fodder I have no feelings toward or against, but this is the first film since JPIII (if not World with Zara), where other characters outside the obvious villains get got. I think other then the dude shooting the Spinosaurus, the rest of Duncan's crew seemed likeable, but it was also obvious they wouldn't last long.

[close]
I think the human characters ultimately did feel more grounded and better written then Owen Grady, and the villains of the World trilogy, but yeah it's not exactly a high bar to cross.

Dino moments:

Spoiler
Aquilops/Dolores stole my heart every scene. Not baby Bumpy and Smoothie cute but still.
T. rex river raft scene
Spinosaurus and Mosasaurus hunting scenes (wish the former had more screentime though, but not like as bad as the raptors could have used it)
Quetzalcoatlus cliff/temple scene
Titanosaurus courtship display (the following herd scene was kind of silly though with the absurd number of them, and a rehash of JP's move in herds scene with far less impact)
Distortus rex scenes (literally could have replaced it with any large theropod and it would have had the same impact)
Mutadon scenes (again raptors or even a upsized scansoriopterygid would have done the same job)

cameo critters: Ankylosaurus, Anurognathus, Apatosaurus, Compsognathus, Dilophosaurus, Dunkleosteus, Pteranodon, sail backed amphibian thing, eel thing, and everything else
Velociraptor scene (the unfinished deleted scene was far better and did the same job as the one we got in the final film)

Best cameo critter: Either feisty Anurognathus, or sail backed amphibian thing just chilling around

I also liked those little animated sequences in the beginning. It makes no sense why they had the same designs of the animals on the island that they had yet to see in person (or have they? who knows at this point), but cute and not something we've had since the short with Mr. DNA since the first film.
[close]
Edit 3: Another thing I almost forgot to mention, but the Altoids scenes were actually painful to sit through as someone with sensory disorders (autism and misophonia).

I'm also finally catching up on reading the many reviews here. Lots of good points raised. And I would rate the films this way:
