I'm betting they used the same sized pegs for both joints in the lower leg, maybe even the shoulder.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Now, not only are they undoubtedly the biggest and most popular dinosaur line out there, but they are typically nice figures that are slowly but surely getting better with every new line's release.  (Although they do have missteps.)
I definitely agree, but I'm still salty about how they went about the "kickstarter" Buck and Gate with fences set.

I rather not have to dish out a large chunk of cash for a custom, when arguably Mattel's Buck (based on what we saw) was near perfection in my opinion.

I know a heavy majority of this sub can get sick of JP Tyrannosaurus figures, but we all know it will sell extremely well. But where the hell is this thing?!?

I wanted the gate too. It looked like a great piece to me.

I would guess they have their lineup figured out a couple years or so in advance. The Kickstarter was last year.   I wouldn't expect it until a year or two. Next year they have a movie line to produce as well.   All that said it wouldn't look as nice as the Kickstarter one.  It's going to have cheaper paint apps in particular as that was a more pricey figure than what sells in stores.

I would love to see a Buck rex, but I'd like them to retool the legs if they do one to match the Giganotosaurus.

Is anyone else disappointed at how all the new toys being revealed are big ones? How about some new small ones too, Mattel?

But we just got a new wave of attack packs, strike attacks, and four small hammond collection ones! x)

Faelrin

We just had a couple of small ones revealed though? The most recent reveals were from SDCC, which included three small HC ones too, the Atrociraptor Ghost, Stygimoloch, and the Scutosaurus, with the only other one being the Gigantic Trackers Suchomimus (in my prior post). I guess we could count the Reimagined Carnotaurus that went up on Target a few weeks ago, which is a big figure. There's also the SDCC Jimmy Buffett exclusive with those mini Dimorphodon figures for what it is worth (which are repaints of the 2018 merc figure, and the one from the 2019 Battle Damage Baryonyx set).

I'm sure we'll get another batch of reveals in due time, including smaller figures, as we usually get them before the year is over.

MLMjp

I'm the kind of guy who pays a lot of attention to all the different versions of the figures but I didn't realize the Suchomimus shown at SDCC was a gigantic tracker and not the one from the set.

Great news as I wanted a standalone release due to sets rarely being available in my country :))

Haha, I can totally relate! I'm also a stickler for details and it's easy to get confused with all the different versions of figures out there. But yeah, the SDCC Suchomimus reveal was a nice surprise, and I'm glad to hear that it's a standalone release. That's always better for accessibility, especially for those of us who have trouble finding sets in our local markets.

Prehistory Resurrection

New Styxosaurus revealed;

Flaffy

Makes me wish the Elasmosaurus had the same caliber of teeth.

PrimevalRaptor

Yeah always found the dentition on the Elasmosaurus weird despite otherwise being a really neat sculpt (seems a bit of a trend though looking at their Kronosaurus vs their Liopleurodon who even has pterygoid teeth for some reason)
That said the Styxosaurus is cool, the sail is obviously very inaccurate but I almost like the "demonic" feel it gives it. Colors are amazing though

Dilopho

Both it and the Suchomimus have scarring, is that a new gimmick?

Blade-of-the-Moon

I assume this is for the Chaos Theory line as nothing I know of has been shown for Rebirth yet.

The fins are interesting, nice color palette. The teeth are winners. They have finally figured out how to make nice sharp teeth that aren't sharp. I find myself looking at many of my previous figures wishing they were this nice.

Primeval12

I don't love the fins but the sculpt and detail have this guy growing on me.

crazy8wizard

The fringe thing is kinda grossing me out but if Mattel decides to make a miniature out of this like they did with the Elasmosaurus I could forgive it ;)

Faelrin

I like it. Reminds me of the JWE2 one, but obviously with some battle damage, and more prominent neck fins/frill. No tail fins either. I like the color scheme. Definitely got to pick this one up, but I'm still behind on the great Elasmosaurus from last year as well.

Guess this is the wavemate for the Suchomimus I shared earlier.

Deinonychus!

Reminds me of the Elasmosaurus but edgier. I like it!
