I've heard of this forum for a long time, but never went into it until today. I left social media, because i was too over-fed by facebook, instagram and twitter. It was too much addicting to swipe for looking other dinosaurs photos in fan groups. But the elephant in the room are the algorithm that show unecessary and uninterested posts. So i quit for better mental health. More mystery, less spoiling informations makes life soo special at the end of the day.

So i decided to leave social media and instead looking forward for forum instead.

I'm here mostly for news about new Mattel jurassic park/world, nanmu (smart series) and creative beast studio products and sharing my collection and my passion for dinosaurs with all of you.  :)) 🦖🦕

Hello and welcome to the forum! If it was not for promoting and networking for my book, I would quit highly addictive Instagram immediately  ::)

Same. I joined Instagram to promote my books and papers, not that it does me any good! But I never found it addictive, I don't really 'get' it. Maybe I wasn't on it long enough. I did like Twitter once upon a time, but now i'm much happier since leaving that for Mastodon instead. Forums like this one still have a sense of camaraderie and community that, in my opinion, modern social media has never properly imitated. Huge swathes of forum communities have died, but somehow ours still goes on strong.

Just imagine this forum witnessing a trend backwards to the times when social media was well-arranged, calm and relatable and followed a human pace. I always sense that we do so much more than serving a medium which in itself for many seems to be a "living fossil". I am convinced forums are not, especially not this one. :)

I've always found it weird that forums such as this are always compared to social media apps like Twitter when to me they are fundamentally different. I feel like forums would much better be compared to smthn like discord, imo they both feel much more like communities, whereas something like twitter is more global, with less defined barriers between groups.

Welcome to the forum! I'm in a similar position regarding social media. You'll find a really great community here.
"The most popular exhibits in any natural history museum are, without doubt, the dinosaurs. These creatures' popularity grows each year, partly because of the recent resurgence of dinosaur movies, but also because a skeleton of a full-sized Tyrannosaurus rex still has the ability, even 65 million years after its death, to chill us to the bone." - Ray Harryhausen
