I updated my results sheet. Second and third are tied, five to seven are tied, and last place is tied. Still going to let this run to the end of Feb for folks to change their votes, or last minute additions.

Though we don't do top 20's for the final results, I do think it is interesting to see several BotM figures make the cut in that regard, among more of the usual at this point.

First Time posting.  I actually joined in time for last year's poll since I really wanted to vote.  I appreciate all who participate, especially for sharing your knowledge and excitement for life on earth, past and present.  I've been a daily browser for a couple years now and you all help to make this hobby more enjoyable.

I toughened my criteria for this year's poll since there were just so many outstanding figures.  I prefer accurate (as far as we know) figures close to 1:35 scale.  I ruled out some due to nitpicks such as the HLG Argentinosaurus teeth and size (maybe just a little big).  The PNSO Lokiceratops frill "eyes" just don't appear natural to me, taking away from an otherwise outstanding figure.  The Eofauna Sue's dull teeth with sloppy black specks on them and the overbite ruled it out for me.  The "feathers" on the back don't bother me much but may be too speculative.  I have all of these figures and still love them but with so many good ones I had to narrow it down.

My votes:

HLG
Alamosaurus
Edmontosaurus
Chasmosaurus
Camarasaurus
Mamenchisaurus
Utahceratops
Huayangosaurus
Majungasaurus

PNSO
Edmontosaurus
Lufengosaurus

Concavenator

Voted for:

- BotM Deinonychus
- BotM Dilophosaurus
- Eofauna Tyrannosaurus
- Haolonggood Chasmosaurus
- Haolonggood Diabloceratops
- Haolonggood Majungasaurus
- Haolonggood Styracosaurus
- PNSO Edmontosaurus
- PNSO Lokiceratops
- Safari Ltd. Austroraptor

Would've gladly voted for Yowie's Atopodentatus, Safari's Stegouros and TNG's Sinosauropteryx too.

Sixty-six votes already, not bad at all.  I think that it's the consequence of both the quality of the prospective choices and that people have gotten over the "poll fatigue" of a couple of years ago.

Sim

With the PNSO Lufengosaurus getting second place with more than half of voters having voted for it, I wonder if this will finally convince Safari it's worthwhile to make a Plateosaurus?  S @Shane, you don't have to answer. ;)

Long time lurker, first time posting. Only collect PNSO figures, so I thought it was important to contribute some votes to recognize that PNSO is, in a way, still in a category of it's own.

PNSO Edmontosaurus

This figure is very close to perfection. I have a hard time understanding the "brown again" criticism of PNSO figures. I worry that we are going down a path of more jarring and less naturalistic paint schemes, as demonstrated in the most recent Lokiceratops, which has an otherwise beautiful sculpt. For me, the naturalistic paint scheme done with care on the Edmontosaurus compliments the near perfect sculpt.

PNSO Camarasaurus

Even with some very excellent sauropods presented by other companies, I felt the Camarasaurus is still the most exciting sauropod offering to come out this year. Aside from being a very important species, I found the sculpt excellent, especially with the head brimming with detail and resembling a real animal, something that cannot be said about all figures. The colors in the paint scheme are as far as I would push it. I think the blue and purple in this figure could be an indication of PNSO beginning to experiment with more vivid and colorful paint schemes. I personally hope that we can continue to see some more naturalistic paint schemes done well from PNSO, even if it means that they revert to colors that are darker and more brown.

PNSO Lufengosaurus

Enough has been said by others about how exciting it is to see a basal sauropodmorph rendered so beautifully. The colors in the paint scheme are no doubt daring, but for me, it works fine. Like others, I am hoping to see a Plateosaurus in the future, but for me, an imagined perfect figure would have subtle, naturalistic colors, something similar to the one shown in "Life on our planet" would be a dream come true.

avatar_Protopatch @CharlieNovember As far as I'm aware only 2 new ones released in 2024. Did I forget any others? I know the Suchomimus won't be out until this year, hence why it wasn't included above.

According to Papo's official website, it seems that Yangchuanosaurus & Suchomimus figures were released in 2024 as well, and available ? But maybe my mistake...

No, they definitely haven't been released yet.  Recently on Facebook Papo said the Suchomimus will be released in February 2025.

Okey dokey thanks for this update.
On my end, I came across this on FBK. They don't talk about Suchomimus though...

Anyway, Yangchuanosaurus promises to be a badass for 2025's poll 🦖

Takes nerve (being positive) to take on HLG's and especially PNSO's superlative Edmontosaurus. Perhaps it was in the planning/design stage long before these were released.

Interesting, it looks like a total wipe-out of all the traditional companies, with PNSO and HLG totally dominating the rankings, with Eofauna being able to sneak in near the bottom of the top ten. It's on merit, IMO.

Yes, I certainly got in on the new age of collecting, but these three companies have really gone head and shoulders above the other PVC Dino toy makers in terms of quality, accuracy, and sheer volume of interesting species. Eofauna is really great, and I think if they manage to increase their output to more like 6-10 figures a year, a lot more people would rank them higher. Their paint and sculpt quality on the Tyrannosaurus and Ankylosaurus are nearly perfect. There are still those that appreciate more of the "collecting" side of this hobby, e.g. seeking out rare, strange, or out-of production models/species for the sake of collecting alone, and not just because it's the best representation of a given species. Although I think this segment of DTF is growing smaller and smaller. I think PNSO HLG and Eofauna are the big three for the foreseeable future.

SidB

It's not like Safari, CollectA, Papo, Schleich and Favorite have closed up shop or anything remotely like that, but the energy and skill set of these newer players have certainly eclipsed the older companies for the time being.

I've updated the results (edit: in my spreadsheet keeping track). Of the ten figures with the highest votes so far, first and second are tied, and 6 and 7 are as well. I'm glad to see nearly 80 people have participated so far.

I can't say I'm too surprised to see Haolonggood and PNSO absolutely sweep this year's poll, particularly the former with how many stunning releases they've had for 2024. 2025's will be interesting to see.

That said poll is still open until the end of Feb, so changes can still be made, and things may shift around (though I don't imagine much). I also don't think I've ever seen this many sauropodomorph figures in a top ten here before either (but it's not that we've ever had this many all out at once in former years). I'd say its rather fitting with last year being the Chinese Year of the Dragon.

A minor spoiler to the poll results (though I imagine most of the active folk still here have voted by now), this is the second year in a roll Alamosaurus has been in the top ten. Not too surprising. If it released any earlier, it probably would have been in 2023's top ten as well.

What a staggering difference in size between the current number one choice (PNSO Lufengosaurus) and the runner-up (HLG Argentinosaurus)! It makes me want to weigh the rhyme and reason behind my own choices. I don't think that the size has a whole lot to do with them, all things considered. Accuracy and production values probably rule the roost.
