I'm actually interested in the Greg Wenzel 1/10  version..it's big and aside from the hand orientation and tail being perhaps slightly less muscular than it should be it's an awesome piece.

Wenzel´s Gorgosaurus is anatomically the best you´ll find on the market and those gripes are easily fixed. Here´s mine with the arms altered, just a little putty would beef up the caudo-femoralis.

The 1/10th and 1/35th pieces make very different impressions, each charming in its own way.

As others have led off the original subject of smaller, available versions of this animal.....
McVey´s version wasn´t bad, with many merits and a few minor detractions. Here´s my work on it.

And the 4 one-of-a-kind sculpts by Sean Cooper from my original sketches of scrawny feathered Gorgosaurus youngsters, are amongst the best work I´ve seen - in my un-biased opinion.  ;)

Looking forward to seeing a flurry of all your images of newly bought and painted versions of Wenzel´s 1/35 Gorgosaurus very soon.  :)

Spike.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Spike, this is certainly your topic. I'm positive those minor issues aren't a problem, just commenting on the original sculpt since I seem to not point out incorrect things in others work often enough for some.  ;)

Spike, your displaying of this piece on your DA account for all this time is probably why I'm so interested in it actually. It's stuck with me. lol  I can't decide to bite the bullet and go for this one or wait to see Shane's new 1/15 Albertosaurus still.

Those Gorgo juveniles by Sean Cooper have made me quite envious on occasion..when I first saw them I instantly wondered if there were kits available somewhere. The poses alone are different enough from what we usually get..but then the detail is there as well.

I will limit myself to toys.  There have been a couple of Albertosaurus (Carnegie and Schleich) as mentioned plus the Wild Safari Gorgosaurus.  CollectA has a detailed Daspletosaurus coming out.  I have seen it with a distinct crouch posture.  The only other Daspletosaurus was the one small figure first distributed by Play Vision then Toysmith.  Tomy Dinosaur Train made a Daspletosaurus. Not too bad if you repaint it.

If you consider Dryptosaurus a tyrannosaur then Toys and Things made one.

As I mentioned, there is also a small purple Daspletosaurus from the Series 1 Dinosaur King line.

For some reason, I am particularly fond of Gali's "biting Gorgo":

I just like the stance, which may be unique among all the many theropod models I've seen.

(I've yet to paint mine, but maybe someday soon.  The resin on my particular model is so pristine and snow-white that I almost don't want to.)

Blade-of-the-Moon

I do believe you are correct and it's the only one I can think of in that pose...I think Kinto may have done two Rexes biting each other though if I recall correctly.

A pristine model kinda feels like a blank sheet of paper..your hesitant to make that first mark for fear of marring it. ;)

Finally found my Carnegie Albertosaurus, here he is along with some Geene models Gorgosaurs:

The Carnegie figure is actually pretty cool, maybe one of their best, IMHO.  It has a good mojo.

Those Geene Gorgos are lovely :)

Yes they are.  I especially like the daring pose of the one twisting its neck, no doubt playing with a member of the 'family'...

...the Carnegie Gorgo/Alberto is a horrow show that should be melted down for scrap, however...

Blade-of-the-Moon

Really ?  I kinda like the Carnegie Albertosaurus..it stands on it's own without using it's tail and is fairly accurate other than a few issues. A review is here :  http://www.dinotoyblog.com/2010/07/09/albertosaurus-carnegie-collection-by-safari-ltd/

It's an Albertosaurus.

And surely you mean the Schleich abomination? The Carnegie is at least adequate. It and Sinraptor demonstrated that Carnegie could provide bipeds (they just continue to not do so, partially because it drives retail outlets nuts).

Aye, now I could see labeling the Schleich as such.

I hope to finish my gorgosaurs and i will share my images with us  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

It is late in the day for this thread but I will post anyway since the subject matter is timely.  This seems like it is a the year for Gorgosaurus with Vivid imaginations and Golden Link producing version of the WWD 3D dark price.  Very collectable and loyal to the portrayal in the movie.  The Golden Link is larger and with a higher production quality.

As far as I can tell, the Albertosaurus and Gorgosaurus are virtually identical.
Daspletosaurus is more like T-Rex, only smaller. That's probably why its been completely ignored - it's just too similar. The versions by Geoworld and Collecta are simply awful.
The Carnegie Albertosaurus is nice though.

It's also the only theropod to stand o it's own two feet if I recall correctly. :)

Dapletosaurs from GeoWorld and CollectA both are in a size to scale with 1/40 figures.  I would really like a matching standing version of the CollectA sort of  mated pair.

The previous Ann. Rex was a tripod more or less or meant to be with the tail pointing down and propping it up. I have found that in certain cases it can balance on it's own without the tail helping..but it wasn't designed as such, unlike the Albertosaurus which was.
