Thanks!  I was going for a malayan tapir inspired coloration.

Your drawings are absolutely amazing! Palaeontological accuracy coupled up with a unique style always works wonders.

Seconded! If you're still open to commissions I might send some work your way after my next payday...

Wasn't sure if I should post this under dioramas or on this page.  Finally got to make a dinosaur cake at work!  It's not as detailed or accurate as I would have liked but that would have taken a whole lot longer than I had.  I did get to sneak some fun plants in though.

Holy handgrenade of Antioch, what have ya done? What kind of kid in this world could dare to slice these apart and feast on them? :D

.... great work, irimali, you Americans make by far the most visually impressive cakes (even if the one's I tasted - well, European "Amercian style" cakes - were of very sweet, but somewhat doubtfull taste :P)

Archinto

Man what a lucky kid to get that cake for his birthday! Ifthat was my cake id be trying to preserve the dinosaurs!hahaha! Very beautifully done.
I'm seeking Orsenigo and other interesting vintage dinosaurs. Contact me if you can help with my search!

Patrx

Nice work! The Triceratops and brachiosaur even have the appropriate number of digits on each hand!

Thanks!  I have a feeling the European "American Style" cakes still aren't as sugary as what we have here.  Probably not even as sugary as an American "European Style" cake would be ;P

This kid's 5, so hopefully he'll pick up one of the dinosaurs and take a big bite.

Thanks!  My boss wanted them to put on display.  They's probably keep a few years.

Yes!  I didn't have a lot to work with and wasn't sure if I was remembering Triceratops's feet correctly.  Glad it's right.  5 year old me would have been counting.

Thank You!  Wish there was more time to take process photos but work is usually hectic.  The dinosaurs are mostly rice krispy treats on wireframes for support.  T-rex has skewers in its legs for more support.  The smaller bits-feet, tails, faces, are gum paste and then the whole things gets a gum paste skin and airbrushing.  Sort of like covering a cake in fondant but more complicated.

Halichoeres

That's so fantastic! It's difficult to believe they're made of rice krispy treats. Well done.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

I finally got a chance to do some more paintings.  Lambeosaurus:

Jose S.M.

That's a lovely painting! I like the background and the Lambeosaurus is great, that would make a very eye catching figure with those colors.

I can't see that plant in the bottom, the red one, and not think of the Grinch's hair. Hahaha!  :)) :)) :))

You see what I mean?

Silvanusaurus

These images are amazing, I love the art nouveau style.

Living in one of the major German cities for Jugendstil, this style is one of a few I am ble to recognize :D.....that last one would make for an astonishing and most unusual tatoo.

irimali, do you happen to have some more shots of your contest diorama, I am curious how you made them pteros fly? Photoshop, or hidden strings/wires?

Thanks!  I was planning on taking some more shots soon, just haven't had time to set it up.  I put my contest entry in permanent aquarium set-up.  lighting is really tricky :(

but to answer your question, the pterosaurs are on wires.  i took the same shot with and without the pterosaurs in it so i could photoshop out the wires.
