Hi, all! I thought I'd share my small but interesting assortment of prehistoric stuff! Someday, somehow, I shall amass an astounding fortune and build a museum. But for now, I have these :) I photographed everything separately, so this is gonna be a pretty massive post. Those slogging along on dial-up connections best turn back now - and they also have my deepest sympathy.

The lovely 1/40 Tyrannosaurus rex by Malcolm Mlodoch (dinonikes) for the Fauna Casts line.

The Kinto/Favorite 1/40 Triceratops prorsus by Takashi Oda. Gotta love those correctly-positioned hands! Shame about the nails, though.

The DinoStoreus Allosaurus by Shane Foulkes Also, a neat replica claw.

WS Apatosaurus

Carnegie Amargasaurus. I like the colors on this one.

Carnegie's (now defunct) Microraptor. Shame it's inaccurate now. I really like the fully-feathered head.

WS Stegosaurus. The stone it's standing on is from Garden Park, the area where Stegosaurus was discovered.

WS Dracorex Might have this guy repainted, it looks a little cartoony to me.

WS Triceratops. I don't like its feet, or the long tail - but the pose is cool.

Papo Styracosaurus. Another great pose.

CollectA Therizinosaurus.

WS Kaprosuchus. Great-looking model.

WS Postosuchus.

WS Mammut with calf.

Kaiyodo Anhanguera.

Kaiyodo Anchiceratops.

Kaiyodo Elasmosaurus.

Kaiyodo Camarasaurus.

Kaiyodo Huayangosaurus

Kaiyodo Tyrannosaurus

Kaiyodo Parasaurolophus. Sadly, my only hadrosaur.

Horizon Archaeopteryx Berlin specimen replica.

Eoraptor skull replica.

Deinonychus claw replica. Deinonychus may well be my favorite dinosaur genus, but sadly, I cannot find a model or figure I like at all.

Tyrannosaurus tooth replica.

Tyrannosaurus hand replica.

Velociraptor foot replica.

Velociraptor skull replica.

Fish fossil, probably Knightia sp.

Carcharocles tooth fossil.

Mosasaur tooth fossil (Platecarpus?)

Spinosaurus tooth fossil.

Pachycephalosaurus tooth fossil.

Coloborhynchus morocconensis (formerly Siroccopteryx) tooth fossil.

Saltasaurus eggshell fossil.

Psittacosaurus tibia/fibula fossil. Probably my favorite of my fossils.

Trilobite fossils.

Papo raptor Mk. 1.

Papo raptor Mk. 2.

Papo Tyrannosaurus Mk. 2.

Papo Tyrannosaurus Mk. 1.

Papo Triceratops.

Papo "Running Tyrannosaurus". I don't know what to do with this fantastically hideous beast :)

And, that's all of it, at the moment!

Didn't you say you were going to skip the running Rex? Or have I gotten you mixed up with someone else....?  ;D

I do love that Favorite Triceratops statue though. Did Triceratops not have claws/nails? I don't really follow the latest scientific discoveries. ::)

BTW, it's 2012 and people still use dial-up??  :o

Tylosaurus

That are some spectacular arts you amde on these models Pixelboy, I gotta say that your T-Rex you just added really exploits it's shades very well,  the same for that Styraco!

But them fossils, did you find them all yourself or did you buy them?
All in All, this is one sweet collection man.

I did indeed say that! However, due to a little mix-up with Dan's Dinosaurs, I received the running rex by mistake. Graciously, Dan let me keep it when he sent the one I originally wanted (the repainted brown rex).

It is a lovely model, isn't it? Only other thing I don't like is the lack of a display pattern on the frill, that seems unlikely.
The way I understand it, Triceratops is thought to have had nails on all of its digits aside from the two reduced fingers on each hand, which didn't support weight. I may be wrong on that one, mind.

I dunno XD I figure maybe somebody out there still has it on some farm twenty miles from the nearest wi-fi hotspot. In all likelihood they also carry a pager.

Why, thanks! I recently discovered that the lighting in that particular corner of my room is much better than I expected for photos. I've got more shots of that T. rex for the review I wrote, hopefully it surfaces on the blog soon :)

Regrettably, I've never uncovered a single fossil. This area is lousy with trilobites, so those turn up at rock shops all the time - but most of these are from Ebay. And thanks again! I do enjoy it.

stoneage

:)  How did you get the Fauna Cast T-rex so fast?

Gwangi

Great collection. The coloration on your WS Postosuchus looks weird, a lot more contrast between colors than with mine it appears.

Hm. Well, I put in the order late February, before the model had quite gotten to the "casting" phase.

Thanks! Yeah, if that's yours in your signature, they do look different - even accounting for lighting differences. Mine's not a repaint or anything, and actually, I think it looks a little too contrasted  :o

This model is begging for a repaint.  :)

I assume it can be removed from the wooden base, right?

That is precisely what I thought, yes :D That could fix its toenails and the frill-design issue. One of these days I plan gather up the funds to commission copper to paint it up for me 8). I've been looking for a good paint scheme/reference picture ever since I got the model. And, indeed, the statue is married to its base only by gravity.

brontodocus

Lovely collection, Pixelboy! :) The new Favorite Desktop Triceratops looks a lot better than its predecessor. And I like the new Fauna Casts Tyrannosaurus with its closed mouth. :)

I was thinking the same. Maybe it looks more contrasting than others because the colour on the back looks rather blackish than brown.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a T-rex by Krentz? My friends all have Sideshow, I must make amends.

ZoPteryx

Great collection!  Especially those fossils and models! :))

Patrx

Thanks, brontodocus and Zopteryx! Yeah, that old Triceratops desktop model was not so good, even if it was at a larger scale. Besides, the newer one is in scale with the Fauna Casts T. rex :) I am up for suggestions on how to have the Trike painted, when I get around to it.

deanm

Nice collection. The sculpts are superb.

Excellent collection! Love the desktop models. :)

Gwangi

Lovely collection, you have some good taste! I love all the fossils and replicas.

Thanks, everyone  :D I've always wanted my collection to be of educational value, as well as aesthetic; which is why I tend to focus on accuracy, and on fossils/replicas. If people step away from these shelves with new knowledge and perhaps a renewed interest in palaeontology, I feel I have succeeded.

Edit: Oh, except for the Jurassic Park stuff. That's just pure fan enthusiasm, there  ;D

Make that bad@$$ Rex (thats what i like to call it) a part of the collection.  Or trade it off to someone who has yet to obtain one.

A fitting name, for he is nothing if not badass. While he's something of a misfit (having no educational value and no real Jurassic Park connection,) I think the big lug is starting to grow on me.  ;D
