Patrx

Hey, feathers are good! Meticulously cutting hundreds of feathers out of vinyl, well, I can see why that's not so appealing  :))

Cryolophosaurus ellioti
("Elliot's ice-crested lizard")
Sculpted by Dan LoRusso for Battat Co.
repainted

Carnotaurus sastrei
("Sastre's meat-bull")
Favorite Co
I've been looking around for a representation of Carnotaurus for my collection for some time. It's a fantastically silly-looking animal, and I wanted a model that captured that effectively. I was all set to buy the Papo version when I spotted this guy for a very reasonable price on Ebay and picked it up. On inspection, it's terribly shrink-wrapped, and lacking in tail musculature. However, it does convey the absurd proportions of Carnotaurus.

Sauropelta edwardsorum
("Edwards' lizard-shield")
Sculpted by Doug Watson for Safari Ltd.
I knew I was going to like the new Nasutoceratops from the promo photos, but this Sauropelta really impressed when I saw it in person. It's amazingly detailed, and the paint application is fantastic; surprisingly nuanced and intricate. Safari have really outdone themselves this year!

Concavenator

If you wanted a good Carnotaurus,I think Carnegie's the best.

I thought about getting that one, it's a beautiful and accurate sculpt. But, the cost to have it customized would have been rather more than that of the Favorite statue, and I wouldn't want to display it in the tripod pose as a matter of personal preference.

amargasaurus cazaui

I still marvel that we live in a day where we can paint a dinosaur and with some confidence say...this is how it looked. I would have never expected that in my lifestime, and I am actually writing that idea into an article for my local group
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

Thanks for sharing sauropelta is a great figure   :D

It is exciting, isn't it? Some of the studies on feather coloration have been questioned since their publication, but even simply having an evidence-based rationale for the color scheme of any Mesozoic animal is amazing to me. Thanks again for the link to the Psittacosaurus paper!

Absolutely :) If I had more time, I'd like to pen a review of it.

Really nice collection! I have a few fossils also, and they're not really displayed to best effect. Where did you get the little plastic stands holding up, for example, your mosasaur tooth and Deinonychus claw replica?

Thanks! It seems a number of the image links were outdated, sadly. They've been replaced! That's what I get for hosting these things on Facebook, I suppose.  ???

The fossil stands came from eBay; fortunately they don't cost much :) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-3-Small-Acrylic-Easel-Display-Stands-For-Artifacts-Collectibles-Fossils-/321655654644?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae42bc8f4

Thanks for the tip! Now my Green River fishes won't just lie flat on a shelf!

No problem! You wouldn't by chance have any ideas as to the I.D. of the fossil in my collection that's just labeled "fish fossil", by chance? Now that the links are fixed, there's a photo of it on page one of this thread.
