Taro was a great creature in a great film but Vermithrax, done by ilm, was such a dragon in the classic sense as well(menacing, lone monster he/she even took virgin sacrifices) George rr Martin said it was the greatest dragon put to film and even got name dropped in the game of thrones tv series.
And Smaug is even better ;D. He is the best novel dragon and the best movie dragon. And don't forget that Smaug influenced every fantasy dragon since (including Vermithrax). Smaug will be #1.

Also, I thought I should put what I voted for:
#1 - Smaug (Obviously)
#2 - Draco
#3 - Diaval (The dragon in Maleficent, though technically he is a raven)

C'mon vote for Smaug.

Blade-of-the-Moon

The Dragons from Reign of Fire are pretty much the Potter dragons and Smaug..they even move the same. So from a design standpoint I voted for the RoF dragons.

I voted for Smaug, Draco and the Hungarian Horntail. I didn't chose the dragons from GoT (yet), since I'd need to see them fully grown first. Enormous dragon enthusiast here! :D

Yay, more votes for Smaug and Draco. I hope Smaug soon beats Vermithrax.

Falkor?

Is that a Dragon ... or a Poodle?  [Runs Away]  ;D
I figured that it would be cool to feature a dragon from an eighties classic. Dragons aren't even real creatures, there is no "rule" saying they can't be furry. Just like vampires, people have interpreted them differently over the years (even though I hate Stephanie Meyer's sparkle vampires...)

He's a luck dragon :

CityRaptor

Given what is nowadays called a Dragon:

Look at him, the pet of a weaker monster!

And honestly, Ghidorah would have Falkor for a snack!
Also, from the same creator as Falkor: Mrs. Grindtooth!

But oh well, without Ghidorah, my choices are: Smaug, Draco and Taro!
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Crackington

Thanks for adding more choices Yutyrannus, though I still think that Donkey's girlfriend from Shrek and the Sleeping Beauty dragons should be in there, they were both classics in their own way.

I've agreed with Simon though and have gone for Harryhausen's magnificent beast -what a great film that is, with the fantastic Cyclops too!

I notice that Draco is in the lead, I gave him a vote too, but I wonder if he'd have been as popular without Sean Connery's voice-over?

I too am fine with furry dragons (I actually have two feathered dragons in the poll: Saphira and the Dragon from Maleficent), but Falkor is a different kind of dragon, he's more like an Eastern Dragon, all the dragons in the poll are Western Dragons.

Good to see some more choices up there. Had to vote for Smaug of course but I also voted for the Sinbad dragon and the "Game of Thrones" dragons. I see that I'm the only vote for them so far. Is that because it is a TV show or because most of our members don't watch it?

Regardless, they're awesome.

EDIT: Difficult not the vote for the Beowulf dragon, I quite liked his design and the movie itself.

Yutyrannus

Wow, no-one likes Saphira, the Ukrainian Ironbelly or Kilgharrah ??? ? How? They're some of the coolest ones!

I don't know why that is, I don't like the show but nonetheless the dragons are some of the best I've seen.

Oh and if no-one's seen Kilgharrah, he looks like this:

Yay! Did you vote for any other dragons? You can make three votes.
