Velociraptor -  I am sooo tired of this pose :( I wish it could have at least had it's mouth closed. Missing primary feathers as everyone else has pointed out. I like the coloration a lot though, and the very bird-like appearance. I think velociraptor lends itself very well to Roger's sculpting style.

Yutyrannus - Like all the other Safari theropods, the proportions are too chunky and almost cartoonish. Feathers are great though, excellent head. I am thrilled to see a closed mouth, so much more beautiful that way, IMO.

Archaeopteryx - Very tiring pose. I think it would have looked much better in pretty much any other position.

Nasutoceratops - For me, this the crown jewel of the lineup! Gorgeous!

My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

The Velociraptor is way better than the original non-feathered one.

Wow... *runs after jaw...*

and 3 pages in, I'm apparently very late to the party.
I have to agree with the comments about the Velociraptor hands, and I always thought Ol' Archie couldn't raise his hands above his shoulders...
...no other complaints.  These all look nice.  Sauropelta's my favorite..

But look at that Archeopteryx.... (1)multilayered rounded narrow-feathered (not to mention black tipped) wings - with proper hands, (2) what looks to be fuzz on the body rather than contour down, (3) hyper-extendable 2nd toe, (4) what looks like trouser feathers on the upper leg.... the only thing that can't be seen is the split on the tip of the tail fan.  This is an archie with perhaps all the latest findings, albeit in stock "I'm a rubber bird" pose.

'guess it's back to "IMPORT TIME!"

Manatee

These figures, in my opinion, are, for the most part, ones I am certainly going to rush out and buy as soon as they are released (especially the Yutyrannus and Nasutoceratops).
Velociraptor- I quite like the coloration, however the tripod pose and lack of primary feathers are irritating. However, as a whole, the figure is very bird-like and it is almost certainly the best Velociraptor figure yet.

Yutyrannus- The head, like everyone else said, is excellent, especially the closed mouth. The coloration and feathers also look very natural- it reminds me of my profile picture. My favorite dinosaur has finally been brought to life, and it is a beauty!

Nasutoceratops- In my opinion, the best of the bunch. The coloration and pose are excellent- no flaws at all. Quite brilliant.

Archaeopteryx- I find this one not quite up to the same standards as the rest. The head doesn't look all too great and the pose is off-putting. However, I do like the color scheme, as it matches the black melanosomes found on Archaeopteryx's feather.

Sauropelta- For some reason, people have been leaving this guy out of their analysis- he's a very good ankylosaur figure. Nothing too special, though.

After seing the colors, I remembered this picture by Raul Martin of Nasutoceratops:

Regardless of origin, I still like the color scheme.

Is it just me, but when I look at the Carnegie Velociraptor, it feels uninspired.

Nope, it is uninspired. And although I said it is the best Velociraptor out there, that is more due to the lack of competition than anything else. I like the color scheme and the fact that it is feathered helps too but it really is not much better than the other releases of the last couple years. This is the third year in a row we get a single release of a tripod theropod roaring and looking to the left. Not only do I think Carnegie just doesn't care anymore, I'm wondering if this is a sign that they won't be around much longer. That said, I'll get it. I don't have a good feathered dromaeosaur and I do like it but I don't love it. I haven't loved a Carnegie model since 2011 and haven't actually liked one since the 2012 Brachiosaurus. Collectors used to get excited about these models, it doesn't seem that way anymore.

Nope, what they don't care about overall is what the popular internet theories are. That's why maybe you all would be better off sticking with CollectA and let me get all the Carnegie ones with no worries about them going out of stock so fast like you all make the Kaiyodo sets (the Plesiosaurus set was moving too fast to keep up with at first) and Favorite Collection models (Anomalocaris is already long gone!) do! ;D
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

The velociraptor looks good, although a little underfeathered in my opinion. The feathers should be extending from the fingers, not stopping at the wrist. Just a little concrit ;) I just hope it turns out to be as good as the prototype depicts it to be.

Is it me, or are the Nasuto and Yutyrannus recycled sculpts from the Diablo and Acro?

Sauropelta and Yutyrannus look great will def be getting those.  That Nasutoceratops is AWESOME I am so happy with all the interesting ceratopids being churned out by toy companies in recent years.  The Archeopteryx looks okay I like the coloring and the Velociraptor I may end up getting if I see it in person.

I....can see room to wiggle on feathering details. But they ARE correct in their critiques of Carnegie's uninspired choices of pose, detail and color. The problems...disappointments perhaps is a better term...are obvious and called for. You can line up all the recent theropods and have a nice dinosaur chorus line recreation going. Surely that is agreed upon?

I will skip the Carnegie Velociraptor, but the Safari figures (not the eggs) look pretty must have.

How about Favorite's Soft Velociraptor? Uninspired coloration aside, surely it is a decent figure? (note, MY definition of "correct" could vary from yours, so I do not use that term and settle for "decent"...)

Just noticed the dates in the catalogue all give a month and 2014. Are these the release dates? If so, the figures are not strictly new for 2015, but new for 2014.

Hermes888

The Carnegie Velociraptor is finally coming? Two other feathered dinosaurs to boot? 2015 is already off to an amazing start.

It's also nice to have a genuinely feathered Velociraptor figures coming out, not just tarred-and-feathered ones.

The Velociraptor body looks like a bit of a lazy re-hash of the Oviraptors, shrink wrapped too in the feather department, but still nice though. Also the Archaeopteryx has such a stale, overused pose for that genus. Reminds me of those big cheapo rubber eagles that bounce on bits of elasticated string and their wings flap. The ones that nearly every seaside gift shop has in the window. Not sure if the Yutyrannus looks a bit too stocky but I like the head design.

>:D

;)

Exactly that.
I really really like blue things.

I don't see what this comment has to do with what we're talking about. We're critiquing it on overall aesthetics, not accuracy or incorporating the latest theories.

I still overall prefer the Carnegie Collection to CollectA, recent releases aside. The Kaiyodo sets are truly spectacular though, and worth seeking out. It frustrates me that the better models like Favorite and Kaiyodo are so hard to obtain. I get them if the chance presents itself. I'm never in a hurry to get the latest Carnegie, CollectA or Safari...I know I have plenty of time to obtain them.

the velociraptor is missing a fair portion of its wings, but overall its pretty good, I'll almost certainly be picking one up
the scale is off (typo?) because at 8" long and 1:50 a real life velociraptor would be 33 feet long

the archaeopteryx is the one I'm most excited for, sure the pose may seem cliche, but its still a nice pose, even with the raised wings it remains relatively neutral overall, and it appears to stand on its own two feet, no base and no tripod!

yutyrannus also looks pretty good, I can't think of much to say about it besides that, will probably get it too

herbivores are also nice, but I'm not particularly interested in either of them

All new sculpts and I have all the originals to prove it.

Can we see the originals? Are you allowed to post pictures of them here?

It is the one I'm the most worried about but if it turns out as good as the Carnegie Microraptor, I'll be pleased.

It can't be 1:50. A 1.5 metre velociraptor would be 3 centimetres long in 1:50 scale.

^thats what I was saying
but its labelled 1:50
