I agree, this has been a really fantastic year for Safari, maybe their best in my opinion. I'm not passing up any of the new WS figures, which has never been the case before. The Nasutoceratops in particular is incredible, the most detailed and accurate of Doug's ceratopsians to date.

Unfortunately, the Carnegie Velociraptor is a huge disappointment for me.

Daspletodave

Hey Doug - your Nasutoceratops is fantastic. Any chance of adding Centrosaurus to the series?

Hey, Anchiceratops first! The last three were Centrosaurines. ;)
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Why not go retro and do a Monoclonius? ;)

Anchiceratops would be beautiful,I won't lie,but if we mean to future ceratopsians,I think a Kosmoceratops has to appear sooner or later.

Why stop there? Do a Charles R Knight Agathaumus! Pity Favorite didn't keep going with their oldies line.

Now theres an idea..maybe someone could pitch a retro line to Safari? Could have educational value as well.  I mean they already did cryptids.

Sure, I just wanna see some of the old school Ceratopsians get some appreciation. If we don't get some Anchiceratops, Arrhinoceratops and as mentioned above, Centrosaurus, we never will, with all these new ones being discovered. There's a new one from Canada in the news right now.

I'd love that but I think it'd drive the Accuracy Buffs absolutely bonkers!

lol not if called retro intentionally right? Would be great to have a Trachodon, tail dragging Rex , hunched Stegosaurus and even, dare i say it.. a Brontosaurus.

I think Doug might like sculpting them too.

CityRaptor

Even better: Crystal Palace Dinosaurs.

And yes, Retro is welcome as long as it is done properly and labeled as such.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I think it would most likely happen as a Toob.

this, so much this ;D

Meso-Cenozoic

As far as ceratopsians that haven't been covered by Safari (WS or Carnegie), a really nice accurate Chasmosaurus has been long overdue! I have been asking for one since I joined here 7 years ago! LOL! Actually, I can't think of one realistic looking accurate figure from any of the major dino toy lines. In fact the only ones I can think of are the cartoony looking CollectA, the even more cartoony looking GeoWorld, and the ROM one that's the retro quality of Marx. I know there are some very nice models out there in the higher priced areas like Shapeways, and the beautiful OOP 1/20 Kaiyodo and Tamiya, and of course some wonderful HQ statues by paleoartists like Foulkes. But I can't think of any accurate 1/40 (or there about) Chasmo in the top dino toy lines and in their price range.

Safari did make a nice little Chasmo which is found in their Feathered Dino Tube. And he's actually not that bad for his size. I can just about imagine what WS Safari could do with one -- it would be gorgeous!

Excellent suggestion, and throw in a nice Sytracosaurus to go with it !!
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

DinoLord

Honestly I think the old WS Styracosaurus(the green version at least) is a pretty great figure and wouldn't look too out of place amongst the more recent WS releases.

Meso-Cenozoic

I actually like the WS Styracosaurus better than the little lavender Carnegie one, both of which I have. I have the dark grey-blue WS Styraco, which I think preceded the green one, but is the same sculpt. Although, my all-time favorite older figure is the Battat, which I also thankfully have! ^-^

Even though I'm sure Safari would do a bang-up job on a new Styracosaurus, I have quite a few already. And Papo's is a new enough figure for now and is very nicely detailed. But I don't have ANY accurate looking Chasmos! So for Pete's sake (and mine, lol) bring him on, Safari!! 8)

Concavenator

Could someone post pics of the new Archaeopteryx in persoon?I haven't seen any as of yet.
