I suppose these don't really fit the definition of "knock-offs", but the Papo inspiration is obvious nonetheless:

being the holiday season and all, the number of ugly knock offs are crowding the shelves of the regular big toy chains in my city.

Today I saw rip offs Schleich and Papo, a lot of schleich, some didn't look to horrible but still probably their quality is questionable. And there's a store with geoworld rip offs.

sauroid

i see schleich, safari and rebor knock offs in one box set. most of them have seam on the mid torso so im sure they are hollow (they are sealed inside so i cant try and squeeze). others are copies instead of remolds because they arent the same size as the originals. all of them are badly painted and even look (the schleich copies esp.) more horrible than the originals.

Are those the ones with a big Yutyrannus from Rebor at the top of the box?
I have seen those boxed and loose and I'm not ashamed to say that I have bought three of the Papo Parasaurolophus ones for the purpose of building a herd (I have no money for a true Papo Parasaurolophus, as beautiful as they are, and I think I'd prefer the lovely Schleich one anyway)

I don't mind bootlegs as long as they don't claim to be the real thing. What I like about these ones is that they are different colours, and that some of them aren't directly molded from the real ones but just heavily inspired by the real ones.

sauroid

yeah those big box sets with the grayish/faded Papo Para copy. i was wondering, are the REBOR copies solid figures or hollow?

Yesterday at a mall I saw a cookie of Schleich Parasaurolophus hehe, didn't look to bad and there was no horribly visible seam. I saw a lot of schleichs actually, and some Papos too, Archaeopteryx and Ankylosaurus.

It's quite had to tell, ut they are certainly light. They stand really well, too.

Are you talking about Item copies? I have some of them, they are:

Schleich: 2012 T-Rex, Giganotosaurus(old version)
Papo: Triceratops
CollectA: an ugly, so ugly copy of the 2006 standard Stegosaurus
Safari: Carnegie Miragaia (that Item calls Spinosaurus), 2014 Carnegie Brachiosaurus.

I don't know anything about Papo parasaurolophus and Rebor yutyrannus copies...

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

Found this Papo Imitation at the Dollar store today. There was also an allosaurus but one of its legs was sculpted way longer than the other, seems a common occurrence among 1$ dinos. I think this is a knockoff of a Papo imitation sculpt based on Papos walking Rex based on the Vrex, which is based on an actual Trex. The reason I don't think this is the original imitation is because there were a few different other cheap dinosaurs from different lines, all re molded and with a sound button on the bottom now. It must never occur to them they could do something original.

Not bad for a knock-off, I would have definitely picked it up for 1$.

sauroid

Yes, they are Item International models. I have never seen before the First box and some of the second box, but i Remember the Schleich T-Rex, the Carnegie Brachiosaurus and the Papo Triceratops (with this color schemes).

Hope that i have helped you!

Killekor

P.S. Item International have many models, knock-offs and many articulated models, but Is a brand that do decorations for homes, furnitures...Like IKEA. But in their website about Toys don't says anything.
