Still loving the Tyrannosaurus, but the straightness of the lower legs bothers me a little.

triceratops83

I wanna put that Guidraco in our bird feeder, see their reactions.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

I wonder what their thinking was with the hinged jaws? In my opinion it detracts from quality of the figure, I've never been a fan of that feature - a toy dinosaur should be a solid, heavy chunk of plastic. I think Collecta's got enough going for them with resorting to gimmicks.

Jetoar

Acrocanthosaurus is awesome  ;D.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Has anyone really, like, commented on the Xiongguanlong? I love it, an obscure tyrannosaur! I hate the tongue, however. It looks fake and is too prominent. :P

Well, nearly everyone else does it.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I would've preffered CollectA to make a Guanlong rather than Xiongguanlong, but it's a good model.I plan on getting it next year.

S'more larger pics!

Speaking of Xiongguanlong...

and last but certainly not least, the lovely Birthing Temnodontosaurus platyodon.

I've said it already but CollectA has really outdone themselves this year. I'm really just a casual CollectA collector (say that 3 times fast) but I really want all of these models, except for the Medusaceratops because of its jaw issue.

Meso-Cenozoic

What about the broken jaw of the Guidraco? The lower jaw doesn't open in the back at the joint where their connected, but forward of that right on the bone! :P

stargatedalek

I don't consider that a huge issue
especially given the wrinkled skin texture overlaying the bill, which means if bent on what might otherwise be an odd angle it could just appear like loose skin

It's a bit off putting but I still love the figure too much to let it get in the way. With the jaw closed I imagine it won't be too obvious, unlike the Medusaceratops with the permanently messed up jaw.

I get ya. Actually with it slightly open as in the pic it also looks pretty good. I do wonder why CollectA still has these basic anatomical mistakes. And it's not just with hinged figures, as you've pointed out. Their figures are getting so good, but then they'll still do something wrong that's so basic. Anyway, back to this figure. Overall, I think it's a stunning specimen. The teeth alone I marvel at! But if it's going to be as big as we think, it's just going to look so out of place with my collection of mostly 1/40 scale. You can get away with something smaller, but when it's too much bigger, it really doesn't work. I like my collection to be around the same scale so I can see their comparative size differences. (Although, I can't wait to see this one in an in-hand pic!) :D

CollectA is becoming the leader/best prehistoric animal toy figure brand in the market. i just hope they'd get over the samey faux hawk on most of their feathered theropods already. and be more creative with their paint schemes. they are starting to look redundant.
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

I'm planning to get at least three of them for the park here and my own collection. They'll make great chicks for a full size one.

I believe the correct term is flaplings or hatchlings :)

It's supposed ro be released in May at the earliest.

amargasaurus cazaui

Collecta has also seemingly settled into a pattern of constantly making their larger theropods with shrink wrapped skulls....compare the Acro from this year to their large theropod from last year. Both have badly badly shrink wrapped skulls that look very out of place alongside the wide hips and obviously well fed body shape (Carcharodontosaurus )
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen
