Top 10 figures polls - guidelines & poll ideas

We've been discussing doing a best of 2015 poll in the CollectA new for 2016 thread.  I thought it would be best to continue the discussion here.

With a poll people is allowed to vote more than once, right? A simple thread would be better in my opinion, only the first post counts, one user = one preference. If you set it late december it should be ok, but january is fine too.

I've never set up a poll, but I'm pretty sure you can set how many votes a member can make, including just one vote.  However, I prefer what was done for the best of 2014 where each member could vote in a poll for a few figures.  I think people will often have more than one favourite figure from the year, and if people like more than one figure almost the same which might be first place for them can change.  Initially my favourite 2014 figure was the Battat Dacentrurus, but it then swapped place with what was my second favourite - the Battat Cryolophosaurus.

Why not ten votes per person just like most other polls held here over the years?

Every poll I've done has been set for 10 votes per person. Everyone should be able to pick their own personal top ten I think.

At the moment I´m thinking about adding a few Hadrosaurids to my figure collection. Is there any interest in having a Top 10 for these as well? These lists are a great buying guide. 

That's a great idea for a poll, maybe we can do that one soon.

Please do, that'd be great! Maybe start a thread first, to devlep the list, and then open the poll once we're sure all bases are covered.

How has there not been a favorite plesiosaur poll yet?

To help us keep track of this section, I've tagged thread titles as follows:

[Completed] = Threads with poll that have been turned into videos (the poll will still remain open).
[Active] = Threads that are actively discussing a shortlist or contain active polls.
[Failed] = Threads that have failed and have been locked, either because the original poster didn't maintain it, or didn't follow the rules, or the shortlist discussion didn't lead to enough to make a poll worthwhile.

There are currently two active polls so there's room for one more. I suggest Velociraptor and relatives.

A poll for Velociraptor and relatives sounds good, but I think it would be better to do it after some 2017 figures are released.  I'm thinking of the Safari 2017 Microraptor and Velociraptor, and the Beasts of the Mesozoic action figures (which include over 10 species of dromaeosaurids, some of which have never been made before).

Why don't do a poll tournament? The winners of the polls of the best genera (for example: the winner at the 1ºplace of the top ten tyrannosaurus (or Velociraptor triceratops...) figures and statues) continues with another poll (for example: the best ceratopsian toys and statues with the winners of all the ceratopsian polls (triceratops,protoceratops,styracosaurus...)).

In December I say we should do a top "Most anticipated releases" poll, after all the figures (barring surprises like last year with PNSO) from the major brands have been announced.
