Due to recent events, my new art thread can be found here: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=5928.msg176347;topicseen#new  8)

I had the idea to do a particular dinosaur sculpture for a while now. I just cut the wood and started the armature today. Its one of three dinosaur sculptues I plan on doing this year (this one and another in 1:40 as well as a 1:12 piece). Here's the first picture:

Poor quality, I know, I took it with my phone. Any guesses as to what it will be?  >:D

Those look like the beginnings of some theropod arms. It's hard to tell the size from the picture, but my guess is some sort of allosaur or therizinosaur.

ooh, i can tell this would be good. nice to see someone experienced making a sculpture. with could serve reference for a giant noob like me  :)

Kayakasaurus

That's exciting! I'm not sure that I've seen anything you've sculpted yet but I'm looking forward to it. Those hands make me think of a Therizinosaur ;)

Intriguing! Are they perhaps big turtle ribs therizinosaur forelimbs?

Tyto_Theropod

It's a either Therizinosaur, an Allosaur or a Spinosaurid.

In 1:40th scale I'm tempted to guess deinocheirus.

So I just went and made a new dinosaur? I guess so...

I posted the arms in the way that I did as more of a red herring, and of course the devil face was a hint.

This is great! Seeing the lack of official nice sculpts of the I-Rex I've been tempted to commission one at some point myself.

Thanks Blade, ARUL. Raptor64870, It's not finished yet. Once I am done with the basic form I will add scales, wrinkles, and quills (the latter probably from wire).
Here's a shot from today:

Not much progress but I haven't worked on it for a while until this week. I'm not sure yet what to paint it; I'll probably wait for the movie to come out first.

jooooo

Looks very nice :D One thing i don't like is how visable the fenestrae are. I know thats the way it looks in the movie but i think its ugly.
