I'm glad the fires missed you! I have a friend in that area and the pictures they've been posting on twitter are just heartbreaking.

Also . . . why on earth would a squirrel chew on a sculpture??? I know rats and things chew, but I thought that was because they are seeking out food indoors. Curiosity?

I know, just terrible ..some the news i've heard is awful. :/

Apparently it isnt all that uncommon, they will chew on trees, bones, sticks and man made items like cars, porches, lawn ornaments and the like.  Seems like all rodents their teeth are continuously growing forcing them to chew to keep small and sharp.   I hate to do it, but traps and poison are about all i can do and leave out there 365 days. :/

On a happier note i just finished building the newest piece by Shane Foulkes, easy to build/paint and a beautiful piece.  This Albertosaur and Hypacrosaurus form a diorama when placed together , lots of options there still trying to figure out which one i like best.

Wow, fantastic job. Looks great.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Glad the fires missed you Blade!
You did a nice job on those Foulkes. I have to ask is that a big screen TV in the background? If so that thing is a monster!

Your Foulkes pieces gave me an idea for the park. Do you display your miniatures anywhere for the public? I know you have mentioned you have some Sideshow, Horizon JP and now Foulkes pieces. There is a Sculpture/Botanical garden in South Carolina Called Brookgreen Gardens. They have the largest collection of 19th Century American Sculpture. Most are life-sized or heroic sized but they have a small sculpture court. It is a walled court with a roof over the sculptures but has an open center section. I was thinking you could do the same but of course yours would probably need to be closed in and lockable and you would have to secure the pieces so they don't "walk" off, plus some type of barrier to protect them from prying hands.  Maybe a few dummy or real security cameras as well.
Just an idea since I am sure your visitors would love to see them.

Thanks! lol no that's a 3x4' poster frame for that awesome Doug Henderson piece. Wish I had a tv that size!

I don't currently, but my entire collection has/is the basis for a future Dinosaur Art and Memorabilia Museum.  It's an idea I've had for a long while since starting but just haven't had an area to built it in or the funds to do it.   It would certainly require locked cases, I've had many fossil replicas and small dino figures displayed with them wander off..even ones in cases ( not locked ones). I found one of my Meg teeth cases removed from the wall, broken and several teeth missing from it. I had to remove what was left and wait to find a better display option.   i do get a few folks that wander by as they exit and peek in the door here just to see what else I have..door is marked Staff Only so they almost never wander in.

Looks like I missed out on the grants for 2017 , well all except ones i won't qualify for.

I'm working on some more illustrations for the Dinosaur Park coloring book I hope to sell to earn funds for us :

I'm thinking of doing a guest art section in the back if anyone would like to contribute a coloring page.  Little Al or any of the other dinos in the park in any mash up you want to do. Just need it to be kid appropriate. ;)

I'm tempted to offer a drawing. Gonna have to comb through your thread for some reference material of your models first though.

Some basic guidelines for anyone wanting to help out :

The guidelines are simple, subject must be Backyard Terrors Dinosaur Park related, so must feature dinosaurs and characters( Big Al, Little Al, Stan/T-Rex, ect ) from the Park, you can go as detailed as you like but they must be in black and white/ line art. Other than that, it's for kids, so have fun with it. Hopefully we can sell enough of these to help the Park out.

I started these last night, 2 on one sheet..bit cramped, won't be trying that again lol

Do you have any size specifications or preferences? What dimensions do you think the printed book will be?

We're going to printing it ourselves on regular printer paper and binding with the metal clasps that fit through a hole punch. I would say 8x11 or anything that fits in the majority of that space should be good.  If you like insert your contact info, website, ect on a bottom corner just in case someone would like to reach you for more art. :)

It´s been a while since the last time I saw your thread and you did a huge amount of work Blade-of-the-Moon. That full size Spinosaurus is awesome :o

stargatedalek

You can use those line art animals I did for you a while back, I'll see if I can throw something more scenic together when I have some time.

It looks like you're off to a good start! I'd like to contribute; just going to look this thread over for inspiration...

The gorgosaurus and struthiomimus might make for good subjects.

So far..lol Yes those would be great! I've drawn little Al running from just about every angle so I'm more than happy for someone else to do some running dinos..lol

Loving the progress on the coloring book! The images are cutesy but realistic to a degree! Can't wait to see more!
I'm seeking Orsenigo and other interesting vintage dinosaurs. Contact me if you can help with my search!

lol yes I'm having to control myself quite a bit with adding details.  I have to keep reminding myself it's for kids.. heh heh

There will be words to accompany each image to explain what is going on and the characters involved. I'm actually using this as  a continuation of the story in th Park where Little Al runs off and keeps getting into trouble.  ^-^
