Thank goodness that you are both all right! It makes me very grateful to live in a (relatively) quake-free area, although according to a quick internet search the UK actually gets a Magnitude 4 every two years or so, and magnitudes 5 and 6 are very rare but not unheard of. We also got a tsunami in 1607 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Channel_floods,_1607). Our usual problems though are floods, gales, winter storms and occasionally some real snow problems, so I myself am more worried about meteorological disasters than geological ones.

I have to admit though that experiencing a minor, non-destructive earthquake must be an interesting experience. One thing I have seen is a tornado - this being a British tornado it didn't do any damage and petered out after a few minutes. There were two distinct funnels about two miles from my parents' garden so we got a grandstand view. I was around five at the time and have never sen anything like it since, although I believe there was another tornado nearby a few years later. That one came down in a farm field and ripped up some hay bales.

I was skimming through some old entries from miniature gaming blogs that I follow, and found this:

Do you see what I see? :))

A page full of classic Citadel miniatures from the late 80's feeling nostalgic now!

CityRaptor

Well yes, it's the Invicta Triceratops. It's actually one of the first Inivictas I got myself. ( The others are Mamenchisaurus and Plesiosaurus )

Guys, I'm about to experience my first direct hit by a hurricane! In fact this is the first time in more than 150 years a hurricane goes through Costa Rica. All we had before was the side effects of the ones that went through the Caribbean. To me honest I'm a little nervous, my town is in red alert state and the power might go down, the water service too.  :-\

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

Thanks, things looks good for now, only some moderate winds and rain, it's expected to touch land by this afternoon.

Wish you all the best, Joe. Stay safe!

Thanks for your thoughts, I think the worst has passed in my area, maybe the fact that I live in a valley inside a bigger valley help to mitigate the effect of the winds, but the rain hasn't stopped since yesterday. There was a 2 hour power cut this afternoon but it was quickly solved.
Still the northern part of the country took the worst part, and the adjacent Nicaragua communities. Thankfully the people was evacuated quickly from the most vulnerable areas.

EmperorDinobot

Well I'm glad. Sounds like a frightening situation.

docronnie

Glad to hear that you're fine Joey.

The hurricane is currently moving through the northwest territory. In my area (to the center of the country) the rain has stopped. Thanks for your concern.

Gracias Halichoeres! Yo también espero que no cause daños graves.

Edit: the hurricane it's already out of the mainland, me and my family are ok and the damages were minimum in my town, some small trees knocked down. Some towns in the north region suffered severe floods that destroyed houses and roads.

So this is basically a place where we talk about anything, right? Just stay on topic to a degree and don't post controversial stuff?
