Ya I was actually pretty happy when I heard this. I have a ton of the old Kenner toys, but didn't pick up a single JW figure. I'm hoping for the miracle that NECA would be able to get a contract with them for some high quality, articulated JP toys, but they have said a couple times on their twitter that there's a slim chance of that happening. But you never know....

All I wanted was to find the Mosasaurus set, but they couldn't even get the distribution of that right.

My kids liked the blind bags though--were those hasbro?

Otherwise, it won't matter--if it is someone like NECA they will cost too much to be mass market (plus NECA barely counts as toys--remember, the goal is kids toys); and if not hasbro, it will be some other low-quality maker that won't know how to make the figures either.

Side note--who, exactly, is left out there as mass-market TOY makers if not Hasbro?

Mattel would be my guess.

Personally, I'll still waiting for Funko Pop Jurassic Park toys.

suspsy

Yeah, Mattel is a good candidate. The question is: would they even want the license?

Interesting. Hasbro definitely seems to have the majority of the market on action figures, as well as owning other brands like nerf etc. they have a good team covering the Star Wars Products(which are aimed at older kids), but disappointing JW toys. They even forgot some of the raptor claws, that's pretty bad. Maybe different JW products will be licensed to different companies more broadly, still including Lego. Dinosaur toys tend to be aimed at younger kids, even Lego, so what we tend to end up getting are toys based off an artists idea of a kid toy, instead of toys based off of what's actually in the movie.

I hope bandai would get the rights. I would love figures from MonsterArts

I was just typing the exact same thing, and they should give their SW and Marvel licenses to Bandai as well.
Have you seen some of the recent S.H. Figuarts like Mace Windu and Black Widow? Now those are figures worth collecting.

@ Kayakasaurus: Are you a SW collector yourself?
If you go to the RebelScum forum and read some of the threads there I think it's pretty clear, their SW team screws up more often than is good for them as well.

CityRaptor

Given how aweful Hasbro's figures are, this is good news. Let's hope someone good picks up the license.

Yes.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I used to look kindly on Hasbro - while their JP3 toys weren't all as great as the Kenner toys, there were still quite a few good ones and these were the toys of my childhood. However after the dismal JW line I lost faith in them. Of all the different sets only the Mosasaurus one looked half decent, and that one was nowhere to be found. Hopefully a better company takes their place.

Kenner?

The (now extinct) toy company that produced the JP and TLW toy lines. Hasbro was their parent company but shut them down in 2000.

Pachyrhinosaurus

This looks like good news. I've seen lots of good action figures (Like the 5.5 inch DW range) and I'm hoping a company of similarly-styled figures takes the place. Papo would do well with a JP license, but I doubt that would ever happen.

Mattel would, they already said that they wanted to make a Dino-Riders movie so they could make toys to show Hasbro "how to make good dinosaurs". So I bet they would do great with the JP license.

I didnt see Marvel figures but I have some from Godzilla series and are epic, imagine Rexy, Raptor Squad, the Big One, Buck, Spinosaurus, Indominus, Mosasaurus and other ones made by these guys!

Flaffy

Finally! Hasbro loses the licence! YES! ;D No more lazy excuses for JW toys anymore (hopefully)!

I'm very happy for JP fans right now!

I'm not very familiar with Mattel so don't know what to expect, but those Ghostbusters action figures look promising. I wonder if the dismal JW line has anything to do with Hasbro losing the license...

Uroplatus

Nice, i knew Bandai was wishful thinking but Mattel is a good choice as well.
If the new figures are as good as their original Ghostbusters and MOTUC line it will certainly be something to look out for.
