Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mattel also handling the reboot of DinoRiders? That's a lot of dinosaur action figures!

Im mixed but I dont know much about action/boy toys. I know they drove the Disney Princess doll franchise to the ground, so much they ended up loosing it to.... Hasbro.

I can only be cautiously optimistic about this news. After the dismal JW line, Hasbro deserved to lose the license. It's righteous justice.

Yep, and they came up with that idea after seeing Hasbro's terrible dinosaurs, with Mattel saying "We'll show Hasbro how to make dinosaurs." That was said back when Hasbro still had the license, which now they don't. So with that quote from Mattel, I have confidence that they will do the franchise justice after Hasbro's horrible crimes against dinosauria.

To be quite honest - it doesn't require much to beat Hasbro. I'm really hoping to see better JP dinos in the future!

Yes, saying you can make a better dinosaur toy than Hasbro is like saying you can make a tastier burger than McDonald's. Not a high bar to leap!

If only REBOR, NECA, Papo or Sideshow were to acquire it.

If only REBOR, NECA, Papo or Sideshow were to acquire it.

Most of those companies are very expensive--far more expensive than what would be considered fair for a toy.

Keep in mind, these products are not (supposedly) being made for collectors first--they are part of a marketing strategy to cement a brand-familiarity in a long-term market--kids that will hopefully remain nostalgic for a franchise as it develops. As far as they know or care, the JP audience will buy the JW dinos because they already have that brand-loyalty (look how personally people take it when JP or JW toys don't match expectations).

So no parent is going to buy a Sideshow maquette for their kids. Maybe as a small license holder for collectors, but as a toy line it would not make sense.

And Papo has made lots of JP-like dinos without paying for the license before--why pay for it now? :P

I'm happy with this. Though I stick to other lines like Safari and CollectA, but that's because the Jurassic World toy line was just one huge case of shoddy craftsmanship altogether. I do hope Mattel does something better with the license. The Kenner toys were great when they first came out. Mattel does seem more collector friendly at least.

That does remind me. Mattel DOES have the Dino-Riders license. So it will be great to see what they have in store. Even for both properties.

At first I was like, why people are already talking like Mattel already got the license? Until I saw Supsy post:

Mattel it is:

http://jurassicoutpost.com/mattel-will-take-jurassic-world-license-hasbro-late-2017/
And everything made sense.

For one side, it is kinda weird not to see hasbro doing more JP/JW toys, but for the other side this means that thereĀ“s hope for a better line of JP/JW toys. The JW toy line had one or two good figures and a few ok ones, but the majority was crap.
I also hope that, if the toys are good, the line won't be limited to a movie release and there will be more toys that are not tied with the movies. Kinda like the "Jurassic Park dinosaurs" lines that were made in the past.

BTW
What happened to the Hybrids line? I have only see pictures in hand of the Hybrid T.rex and the pack with Blue an Owen. Is not like I am interested in that ridiculous line, just curious about what happened to it. It has been canceled?

Hopefully they don't use the same toys for the Jurassic line that they use for the Dino-Riders line.  :-\

That occurred to me also. That would be really unfortunate. We'd have a Dino-Riders Dilophosaurus with a giant frill...

Surely they wouldn't be so cheap and tacky?

Fingers crossed!

They are mostly floating around, but distribution is supposedly very poor for them. HasbroToyShop had them last I checked as a curiosity. The Rampage Indominus and Hybrid Armor stuff is on Entertainment Earth for preorder as well:

Very negative. And I'm not even counting the two guys dissing the whole franchise.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no
