I wonder if it was "inspired" by this:

I had pointed that out earlier. ;)
I am the Dinosaur King!

Appalachiosaurus

Honestly, the Carnotaurus it looks kind of cute. The T. rex looks like the papo and schleich ones had a drunken one night stand.

I think the new Acrocanthosaurus marks Schleich's all-time low. The actual product is far worse than the already hideous promo image, seems like it was designed by a ten-year-old with no particular talent for drawing. They should consider giving up on theropods altogether, their best is the Therizinosaurus, which doesn't look like a dinosaur at all. Enough said.

what is the point of pining for Schleich to make new species if they keep churning out one bad design after another and only occasionally make a decent figure and usually an Ornithischian.

Schleich should probably focus more on marine reptiles/fish and prehistoric mammals. An updated, repainted Shonisaurus sans dorsal fin...Ophthalmosaurus, Plesiosaurus, and/or Leedsichthys would make for some fine additions in the Schleich line. How about a Platybelodon?

Those would be awesome. Their Dunky was quite spectacular. Do we know who the artist who does the sculpting for Schleich is?

No idea who the sculptor is. I have the Schleich Dunky (as well as the Safari and Favorite Collection versions) and I absolutely love it. Sure, it's not completely accurate but it is very pleasant to look at. The colors are unique and subtle in real life (the pictures don't do it justice), and the articulated jaws is a nice touch. Schleich would be a worthwhile contender for best prehistoric marine animals if they ever decide to go in that direction. Currently, CollectA is the market leader in that domain. PNSO had potential but they lack organization, unfortunately.

Certainly the lack of organization of PNSO is a great misfortune this company promised.

From my adult collector perspective this figure looks just terrible, but I understand the appeal for little kids, which must be Schleich's main target audience. If I got it right you are collecting the line Takama, it'd be interesting to see comparisons between models, for example this Acrocanthosaurus with Herrerasaurus or Allosaurus, or maybe collective shots of the full collection so far. Thanks for sharing those pictures anyway!

That looks even worse than I expected. One solid stripe of bright blue. They're not even trying.

Kaprosaurus

That Acroca-wait,i mean that thing looks horrible! The head looks too fat,the stance is outdated, the tail is too short, feet too big,the spines are probably too small. This is worse than their old Ceratosaurus and Baryonyx. It even looks worse in real life pictures.Paint is also sloppily applied, the teeth looks like they're splashed with water color and the tongue is painted by a 5 year old kid who tries to make "masterpieces" by customizing already bad figures that they think the most accurate figures of that species out there! (aka Schleich) Sorry for the rant there,i am probably wrong at some spots but i can't handle it. >:(

It appears if we were to stand directly in front if this Acro, it wouldn't be able see us!  :))

Oops, my bad.  :))

Shonisaurus

This figure sincerely is not attractive nor even for children.

It seems made a bad idea by Schleich to remove the desire of children to buy toy dinosaurs.  :))

terrorchicken

its funny how the only thing they got right was the hands(they aren't pronated) which is the first thing you'd think they'd get wrong.

sauroid

imagine a brand like Schleich doing something like that in 2017. how regressive.

SpartanSquat

The figure was much better in catalog and the toy cons. The back paint is...bad...

Here he is with the rest of the Schleich Dinosaurs. (As well as the World of History above him)

Thanks Takama, despite not liking the majority of Schleichs I find always interesting to see full collections. I'm pretty curious to see how future retooled versions of existing models will be.

tanystropheus

Pretty cool Schleich collection  :)

BlueKrono

Schleich sure has a wide range in terms of quality. The Dunkleosteus and the stegosaurs are pretty cool, but some of them are quite silly.

Irritation

I found the Acrocanthosaurus and Utahraptor at Fred Meyers today. I didn't get them but I guess the reason the Acro's head look like that is because they know that it was related to the giganotosaurus, yet were to lazy to make it accurate. I honestly like the Utahraptor a lot better.

I sincerely like the feathered velociraptor 2017 more than the utahraptor.
