I have to admit I like the new T. rex, despite its shrinkwrapped head, but it certainly has an anachronistic charme for me. On the plus side it also seems to have decently sized feet, binocular vision, an overall correctly shaped skull and it certainly does not look like a JP rex.

.... and seeing Takama's photos I have to add that the head seems to be oversized so that the whole proportions looks like that of a juvenile. Guess I'll see that in person before deceiding wheter to buy or skip it.

sauroid

all along i thought Schleich was improving. that rex is as bad as most of their output.
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

BlueKrono

The rex does not look accurate to me, but I can't quite put my finger on why. The only thing I like about it is the Papo-like scale detail.
We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster, but there - there you could look at a thing monstrous and free." - King Kong, 2005

AcroSauroTaurus

It looked good in the catalog image... the real figure looks terrible...
I am the Dinosaur King!

Silvanusaurus

I thought the head looked big and short in the stock photo because of the angle and subsequent perspective/foreshortening, but nope, its actually just really weird looking. Its still probably the best dinosaur Schleich have released in a while, but i no longer have any interest in selling my soul and purchasing it.

2 questions: I am not a huge Schleich fan so these may be dumb questions or have been address before.

1) Is the new Acro not a part of the "Conquering the Earth" series? Everything Dinosaurs has it listed just as "Acrocanthosaurus", but the Velociraptor, T.rex, & Carno are listed as part of the "Conquering the Earth" series like the Stego, new Allo, new Brachio, and Utahraptor are (or they NOT part of it either...after looking at the Everything Dino" page again, Allo & Brachio aren't listed as being part of the "Conquering the Earth" series either, and I guess I thought they were since they seem to be of the same scale as the others)

2) Alot of folks are making a huge deal (mostly complimentary) of the new Kentrosaurus. How exactly is this one different (so I assume perceived as "better") than the one from 2015, which was raved about for the most part and STILL being praised? Seems odd they made a new Kentro just 2 years after their previous one, unless there were some major improvements or it was made in a different scale.

Reason for question #1 is because the only Schleichs I actively collect are the ones from the World of History series (I've no interest in the minis, etc.), and what has basically replaced them since the WoH line is no longer, and I believe that the different lines they come out with now each year, like "The First Giants", "Conquering the Earth", etc. have basically replaced the World of History line, and I was curious as to how the new Allo, Brachio, Acro, etc. fit into this scheme.

Takama

All of 2017 models are a part of the conquring the Earth line

There are things I want to see from schleich next year:
1. No reusing dinosaurs from previous years
2. New dinosaurs that can please people
3. Different prehistoric creatures (I might not happen, however).
4. Perhaps some remakes (examples: Torosaurus, Pteranodon.)

I reallly want to get my hands on this to review.
WTF?! Why couldn't Schleich..... Okay! Papo, I'm trusting you to make a Daspletosaurus model now.

That T. rex has something that makes me not like it, I don't know if it's something about the proportions. When I look at that head only shot, aside from shrinkwrapping, it looks well proportionate and it looks like a (starving) T. rex, but the whole body pictures are weird, kinda looks like one of those disproportionate bobble-head figures to me.

sauroid

that rex looks like an old school claymation model

Rathalosaurus

Something inside of me wants to get this just to re-do it... but I know I'm not that good at customizing things...
Dude, I very like Dinos and I cannot understand those who don't.

What do you mean?

Neosodon

Nothing special but at least it's a slight improvement over their previous T. rex with the mega hips.

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

Shonisaurus

I pass two links with the novelties of Schleich by Rupi Bolz. One comes with packing and the three new dinosaurs (tyrannosaurus, carnotaurus and feathered velociraptor) and another of tyrannosaurus rex. It must be recognized that it is a remarkable improvement over their figures of the same species that have preceded them and that I am not a supporter of Schleich.

Going to the point I pass the two links,

What do you mean?

It's basically a bastardized (Super Deformed/Chibi) version of the Griffon/Master Fossil model.

Probably some of the old models will be replaced like spinosaurus, giganotosaurus, anhaguera, pentaceratops
