The Brachiosaurus scene is one of my favourites in the movie :)

Me too. I don't care about the accuracy, that scene gets me every time. If the new movie can give us moments like that, I'll be happy.

Similar moments would be great but it's difficult to achieve.  They tried in JP3 but it didn't quite work.

It didn't help that the CGI in JP3 was just awful in many of those scenes. How a movie from 1993 had better CGI than one from 2001 I do not know. The Lost World at least had that one at the end before the credits with the rex family, Stegosaurus herd and Pteranodons.

When? When they were on the lake with the brachs?
I may not like feathered dinosaurs and stumpy legged Spinosaurs, but I will keep those opinions to myself, I will not start a debate over it, I promise. 😇

That's the scene that comes to my mind, for sure. Really hideous for some reason. Almost cartoony. Perhaps they'd spent too much money on Stan Winston's absolutely brilliant new animatronic raptors (aesthetic designs aside, they were technically marvelous).

The ankylosaurs looked unfinished. And when we see the brach head come close to the screen, you can't  help but expect it to say helllooo in a really cartoonish voice. I don't know  I preferred the lost world raptors over the jp3 ones.

I found the JP3 raptors insulting, the mentality of "we gave it feathers, its accurate" was like a slap in the face

I was referring to the effectiveness and complexity of the animatronics. I did specify as much, did I not?

I don't recall them ever stating that their velociraptors were accurate. Did they? ??? I have been busy trying to forget that JP3 ever existed so maybe I missed something.

I recall watching a video several years ago where they discussed adding the "feathers" to try to keep up with the science, but I can't give any more details about it.

this was in reply to UDK saying he preferred the JP and TLW raptors ;)

I should have said "the act of giving them feathers at all felt like they were trying to make them accurate"

I see! Hah, guess I had trouble keeping up with the conversation. I am glad to see the JP1 design returning rather the the ones from TLW or JP3. I had always assumed that the striped orange ones in TLW were sort of meant to be male versions of the all-female flock in JP, sort of like the green male T. rex in contrast to JPs brown female. Perhaps I am incorrect?

If you look in TLW there are green eyed raptors and yellow eyed ones. The green are female, the yellow males.  The males have brighter tiger stripes than the females.

Apparently these and the ones in the first JP are the same species.  They may be a different edition number though.

The JW Raptors seem to be a brighter green with yellow eyes so far..not sure why.

Oh, that's right, they're green now! I'd forgotten about that photo from earlier in the year. Looking forward to seeing some great animatronics there.

The raptors seen on nublar were all females, the ones that attack the party on sorna were an all male group. The female raptors were greyish brown, the males orange with brown stripes. The nublar subspecies shared sorna with a more aggressive race in which the females were white and the males grey with head quills.

Trevorrow tweeted this today, saying "In memorium":

Pachyrhinosaurus

#1057
Is this a photo from the set? I remember there being a similar statue being discussed which was in Singapore. Regardless an excellent presentation.

I liked the acting and entire layout of the brachiosaurus scene, and would have voted it in the all time greats if they had used any animal...even a stegosaurus, anything except the one dinosaur least needing to rear and most lacking anatomically to do such a thing. Even then the human actors and the drama of the scene are quite solid and set a super mood for the movie.
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

@ Pachyrhinosaurus... In the article I read that included that pic of the Hammond statue it said, "presumably from the set of the new film". I think there's a good chance it's from JW. They couldn't have created this statue for Attenborough after his death just a day ago. I'm betting it's for the movie. It's definitely very cool!
