Why the heck Pachyrhinosaurus and Ceratosaurus are bigger than Triceratops and Allosaurus?

Maybe because it is only a promotional picture and the have to downsize them to fit in?
I am pretty sure the actual toys will be in the correct scale.

Hey all!

I'm at Toy Fair now - I see you already found the pictures we posted to Jurassic Outpost - hope you like em! If you want to read a bit more of my brief impressions, you can do so here: http://jurassicoutpost.com/hands-first-mattel-jurassic-world-fallen-kingdom-toys/

I don't think I have a chance to question Mattel til tomorrow, but throw anything you think of my way!

Are those going to be the actual retail prices? Wow, I thought they were going to be expensive, but those prices are actually very nice. I guess they will be a little bit more expensive here in Europe, but still, something affordable. 30 bucks for that huge Mosasaurus? That is great!

Simon

WOW - this is even better than it looked at first - Mattel re-imagined the entire JP universe.  Kudos to them for the cojones to go "all-in".  This is really an amazing assortment of critters/vehicles/gadgets, like we haven't seen since 1997 and the second JP movie.

(Glad I no longer have any "little ones" to shop for, or I would probably wind up buying every single one of these pieces!!!)  ;)

Off the top of my head, how does he mosasaur actually fit in that package and bonus shark accessory?     2nd will we get a Hammond figure in the Classic line?  A neat idea for them, a Hammond/Lockwood cane replica with a light up amber top for kids/durable play.

Faelrin

I was already looking at the Jurassic Outpost post on this, as well as the FB image dump. Really great stuff there. Thanks for sharing here ChrisLikesDinos. I have a few questions about the toys. Does the Mosasaurus have the double set of teeth in the upper jaw? Does the Triceratops really have a long tail like seen in some the images floating about? And I'm going to guess it's safe to say at this point that no they don't, but these don't have the screw holes like in the case of the JW figures, right?

Anyways the more I look at it, the more that Thrash and Throw (such an unfortunate name, lol) T. rex doesn't seem all that bad proportion wise, and the head looks a lot like it should for a JP T. rex. I'll consider adding that one to my wishlist, and honestly it seems like that one scales better with the other dinos from this line then the giant one (that I still want). The play feature seems interesting too.

I pretty much want like one of each dino at this point. These really do seem like some of the best since the Kenner days. Mostly because of the sculpts and paint apps being pretty film accurate or close to it. I mean I'm looking at the Triceratops pictures and even the sculpt's detailing resembles the scales and scutes on the Triceratops (animatronic, and the concept art) from the first movie and TLW. That's some serious attention to detail there. But yeah all the articulation on these is cool too (and lack of exposed flesh wounds). It's not quite Dino Showdown or Beasts of the Mesozoic level, but it's a little bit more then what's usually in a JP toy. Anyways with all this attention to detail I have to wonder if the people working on this toyline were fans themselves, or just paid attention to the fans over the years. I also wonder how much input Universal had with this line.

Edit: Can't forget to mention that the figures are in scale or close to scale for the most part. That's another huge plus for me.

Carnosaur

Well.
There's more than a couple of these I'll likely be adding to my collection. :)
Over all, a pretty good showing, far better than anything Hasbro offered.
I'd say this is the best Jurassic Park release since Kenner's TLW series.

Here's a shot of the Protoceratops and what I assume is Minmi:

Also it gives a pretty good sense of size.

EDIT: Herrerasaurus too

Where did that image of the Protoceratops and possible Minmi come from? I just want to know so I can see if whoever posted it has an image of the Minmi's face.

I have seen a video of it, and yes, it does have the double set of teeth, unfortunately they are not painted. :(

I remember saying that the thrash and throw rex was one of the worst toys when the leaked images appeared.
But now I want it because unfortunately I do not have neither the Red, Thraser or Bull T.rex, so I need a big rex in my collection, and like you said, it scales better with the other dinosaurs. The super huge T.rex, as cool as it is, is too big, and it would look huge next to the other figures (And it would tower over my JP3 Animatronic Spinosaurus, and I want a fair fight  ;)). As annoying as the line on the body is, the sculpt itself looks good, specially the head, and the action feature looks fun. At first I was thinking of looking for one of the old big rexes on ebay, but that would mean expending some money that I could invest on these new toys. So I think I will get this new rex for now.

Just because you say it in another language it does not mean that b"lls is not a bad word, be carefull with your language, Simon!

While not accurate to the real dinosaur, that is a very nice Allosaurus!  Much better than that caution sign yellow monstrosity Hasbro released.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

ITdactyl

Thanks for sharing that vid.  Funny that it started with "supreme stiletto Claire" whose "hyper heels" allow her to outrun a Rex.

Sorry... couldn't resist.

Ugh, too many nice figures.... and my budget for this year is sooooooooooo tight......

Faelrin

I watched that video last night. I thought that was the case for the Mosasaurus, but it was hard for me to tell because of the quality of the vid (and small screened laptop). If it looks that way to someone else though, then its probably safe to say that yes it does have them.

In any case I wonder when these will be available in stores and online. I'm just hoping I can nab some when they come out, since I'm afraid of the scalpers eating these up, plus no doubt there will be plenty other collectors interested in these, aside from parents getting these for their kids. I also hope I'll have the money then. First and foremost I want to get that Carnotaurus the moment it is available.

Holly heck, that "pteranodrone" is amazing. I want to know the price, that's the first thing I've seen that I'd genuinely like to have. Its just so absurd and cool  8)

While there is a lot here to interest me, (and give my bank balance another kicking!) as far as my collecting focus is concerned I am a little disappointed that the only Sauropod seems to be among the minis. JP/JW does seem to be heavily bias towards Therapods - I guess these are the figures that sell more, especially with younger children.

terrorchicken

looks good! much better than the Hasbro LW stuff(I only got the minis for those.) Though Im still confused regarding what fits in what category as far as the sizes. Like the minis for this line look jointed(or are they just seams?) There seem to be like 5 or 6 different sizes!

Carnosaur

Is it just me or does the Stegosaurus strongly resemble the prototype seen with the 2013 Allosaurus?

I was thinking the same thing, but it's probably just coincidental. There's no way that Hasbro would turn over a prototype to a rival toy company like Mattel.

the only really tiny thing bugging me about it is the last three teeth on the upper jaw look too far back..but it's really minor nitpick..def buying him!

I think both are just really detailed JP Stegosauri is all.

I'm hoping that is remedied with later releases, even next year.  If the line does well a big rubber Apato or Brachio like Mosa would be perfect.

I read April for release on JPToys.

I saw a video today I think the guy said 100.00 ? I don't know if that sounds right or not haven't looked at any of the recent Star Wars ones or anything too close.

I'm not 100% sure myself, there are blind bag minis with 1 point articulation, mini figures with the humans, mini figures with the Matchbox items, and I think mini figure sets.

Some figure prices (surprisingly cheap btw ) and release date, April 16th, mentioned here
