:-\ Seems like Colin doesn't phrase a lot of things well. Off the top of my head, there's also his seemingly-ignorant zoo/prison comparison ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=7385.0 ) & his seemingly-false claim about the prologue's paleo accuracy ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=6700.msg295983#msg295983 ). In this case, his seemingly-stupid Giga/Joker comparison seems especially stupid in light of what Rick Carter (production designer on JP) said:
QuoteWe try to find the animal in the dinosaur as opposed to the monster in the dinosaur... we wanted their situation to be more like they were being stalked by an animal that is a carnivore as opposed to an animal that is psychopathic, and just out to get them.

The torch is basically split in the middle and he's holding on to one half of it. Weird design, but funny?

The saddest part is, I think this design is genuinely aiming for that high-end Drew Struzan art style (certainly moreso than the previous JW films), but it evidently needed a couple more proofs before publishing.
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, though: it's still decent-looking at a glance, rather than being obviously ugly.

Saw this today, could be from the Empire Magazine interview but there you have it folks. The Giga is bigger, badder and nastier than even an Indominus rex. So I guess in the trailer when Ian said why do they always have to go bigger was probably referring to the Giga bigger even than Indominus rex instead of the T.rex lol. This is just too ridiculous, 22 foot tall, 11 tons of kaiju barely resembles the actual animal neither in size nor shape.

"I wanted something that felt like the Joker" ... (Colin Trevorrow)

...

SRF

Maybe next time, Trevorrow can just make a Batman vs. Joker movie.
But today, I'm just being father

Fembrogon

Either Trevorrow's perspective of dinosaurs is even more warped than we already thought, or he's just trying waaaaaaaay too hard to hype up his latest villain theropod.

GiganotosaurusFan

I think it's the latter...hopefully.
Any Giganotosauruses are friends. Any other carnivores are...I think I'll run now.

First Jurassic World movie that I won't be attending in theaters. I'll wait for it to be digital or dvd.

More and more content seen in trailers and spewed out by multiple people makes it seem like this is going to be a train wreck.

Camp Cretaceous was definitely the life-saver  with this JW trilogy. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched it yet.

I never listen to random people when it comes to media, i've liked so many things that others hate.  I prefer to judge for myself.

Shame CC is ending, and probably no hope for new series after netflix took that dive

avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon I'm almost certain it's the former. After all he did say this:

"It's an origin story, in the way we might get to do in a superhero film," says Trevorrow. "The T-Rex is a superhero for me. It really allows us to take this brilliant concept that [Jurassic Park author] Michael Crichton conceived, that is the foundation that all of this has been built on, and show it in its absolutely purest form."

in this article: https://www.ign.com/articles/jurassic-world-dominion-prologue-breakdown-director-colin-trevorrow

Again, I'm trying to keep expectations low because of how FK was and both the locust/screening leak I read (since a lot of details are starting to back it up now, that wouldn't have been known beforehand when it was initially put out there). I still plan to see it, mostly because aside from Prehistoric Planet, there's finally a Jurassic film that acknowledges feathered dinosaurs, and does a good job for the most part (except the Oviraptor from the Prologue which was the bare minimum) with their designs for something that isn't a documentary, aside from the fact this is the first time since the first film that we've had all three major living cast members back together in another Jurassic film.
Edit: Well I almost forgot FK did have that feathered Mononykus statue, which surely inspired the design of the Mattel figure released in 2019, but it was hardly front and center.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't look feathered. AFAICT, all they have are some JP3-esque quills on their tail tips: https://jurassicpark.fandom.com/wiki/Mononykus#Movies

Thank the heavens that Prehistoric Planet and Prehistoric Kingdom are also coming out this year, so we wouldn't have to get our dinosaur fix from this bloated monstrosity. The Giganotosaurus animatronic is pretty cool though. By the way, does anyone know if Yangchuanosaurus is appearing in this movie? There was a mini toy of it from Mattel, and the mini toys that were just released tend to be of animals that are appearing in the movie.

Yeah for real, Prehistoric Planet is the hero we need.
But if JP/JW franchise is to be continued after this, I say they need to do a reboot and for god's sake get some competent director for it. If the current madness goes on, it would be a matter of time before we get Rampage sized theropods as new bosses for our poor Rexy to take on and only to be rescued later by The Fast N Furious squad flying in jets and what not.

There is a larger 20.00 toy as well. I've heard it will be.
