New clip of Pyroraptor has been going around out there. Be warned.

Spoiler
It shows it breaking through the ice and chasing Owen and Kayla. 100% dumb, no logic involved. The only reason it even slightly appealed to me is that it reminded me of the dragons in the Skyrim Dawnguard DLC, and it gives me a reason to name a pair in JWE2 after them when they are added to the game. I fully expect going into this film for it to be a dumpster fire now since this is yet another leaked detail confirmed, or at least the action scenes, but if it gives me enough satisfaction in turning my depressed anxious brain off for a few hours it'll be worth it, I guess.

But honestly it is really sad how this franchise has plummeted into this nonsense requiring brains to be turned off, after how intelligent the first, and arguably the second film was. Honestly even JW was pretty good for the most part (although still suffered from bad writing such as how the Indominus rex escape sequence was set up). Granted this is an issue with modern cinema these days and the excessive push to Marvel-fy these things these days. I noticed from the start with JW.

Honestly    , i lost all faith in this franchise.   you can spoil every single scene to me once it hits a theator, but rather or not I see it, remains to be seen.

Pachyrhinosaurus

It seems as though what we're seeing in the trailers is progressively more bombastic and more of a stretch. I felt the same with the previous two films, where each new trailer made the movie look less grounded in reality.

I don't see why this scene is that much of a big deal?  Everyone applauded the first film with it's diving pterosaurs. Now we have a more birdlike raptor species that can dive and swim underwater like a penguin? What's the big issue really?

Primeval12

Spoiler
As said in Swerve's video, this was based on science. Pyroraptor is an the Unenlagiinae family. Some memebrs of this family have been hypothesized to be semi-aquatic if I recall correctly.

Spoiler
Think it's dumb as it's looking like it should freeze in that water, but mostly because it's just a reason for them to get away from it as it could've easily just ran at them since it's already faster than them. Also mostly how it's diving is the problem not the swimming aspect of it.

Spoiler
I don't have an issue with it swimming per se. I have an issue with the way its integument and body shape is depicted, when combined with the environment it is swimming in. This was an animal that lived in a much warmer environment, and is now depicted as diving into ice cold water as if it were a penguin, or alternative cold water diving bird, but doesn't have any of the specializations to do so (flippers, thick and dense feathers, shorter tail, etc), except the semi webbed feet perhaps.

I also might be jumping the gun here, but the whole thing with Owen also falling into the ice, and freezing water, is just reminding me of how he survived a pyroclastic flow in FK. I highly expect plot armor to keep him safe from catching hypothermia from falling into frigid water, or near hypothermia. When I was a child there was a Titanic exhibit at the Myrtle Beach Ripley's Aquarium I was lucky enough to go to, that my school took me too, and they had frigid water you could stick your hand or arm in to experience how bad it was. I wasn't the brightest and stuck my whole arm below my elbow in and held it in there for as long as I could take it. It stung/burned something fierce and really took a lot to get it feeling warmth again. I can't imagine how painful it would be to experience that kind of cold water over your entire body, and not suffer severely as a result of it. Again the whole scenario would require me to turn my brain off to enjoy (assuming I even can or do now), because there's just so much inherently wrong with it.

Furthermore Pyroraptor's phylogenetic positioning seems to be up for debate based on the lack of material it has, as far as if it falls into Unenlagiinae or not. There doesn't seem to be much evidence supporting such swimming/diving behavior in this group yet either (such as with Buitreraptor or Austroraptor), with the exception of Halszkaraptor and its closest relatives, which also depends on if they fall into Unenlagiinae, or their own subfamily, etc.

Honestly again, I don't think much thought took place behind this. I think it was just done because it's a theropod, so it must be scary, dangerous, etc, and for tension (which so long as there is plot armor, it reduces the effectiveness of). Again I'm really relieved for Prehistoric Planet coming out soon (and before Dominion at that), and I'm really hoping it does not disappoint. It also once again reminds me of how little research was done (or ignored) for the Prologue sequence.

This was a nice watch (also some new pics), and mostly pertains to the filming of Jurassic Park, but a bit about Dominion as well:

New trailer dropped today. Frankly, as bombastic as it is, this is exactly what I want from this franchise. Balls-to-wall absurd action. I like monster movies, I like creature features, I like dinosaurs as monsters. This looks like a blast. I'll watch Prehistoric Planet for the science and awe, honestly I'm looking more forward to that than this, but this looks ridiculous and I'm all for it. Every Jurassic Park sequel has missed the mark and failed to deliver on anything remotely as great as that original movie, they might as well cut loose with it.

Spoiler
I must say that I am pleased to see that not much has been revealed to spoil the movie for the audience; more or less the same things since the first trailer. I think the plot of the movie is clear in the audience's mind by now. I am also pleased to see animatronics returning again; such as is the case with Beta and the Giganotosaurus. Love also the occasional humour in the dialogues between the characters; which help to break the tense atmosphere prevailing in the movie. Malcolm waving the flame torch at the Giganotosaurus reminds me of the scene in Jurassic Park where he waved the flare at the T-Rex. Very nice touch. Some things however shocked me; such as Blue attacking Owen or the Pyroraptor being able to swim. The T-Rex not appearing in this trailer also left me quite puzzled but well, I guess they want to put the Giganotosaurus into the spotlight more than the T-Rex. After all, it is the new, main star and at the same time, the villain of this movie.

All in all, this definitely got me hyped than ever for this movie. This trailer is definitely more clearer than the previous one and shows the plot of the movie very well.

Was expecting to see Giga facing off Rexy like shown in the cover but nope. But yeah they're pretty much hyping up the Giga as Thanos, might as well make him breath fire at some point.

It's because
Spoiler
most of Rexy's scenes are just her getting beaten up by Giganotosaurus for 5min straight until the Therizinosaurus swoops in lending her a hand. Yeah I don't think they wanna reveal how our favorite hero dino is getting slaughtered so much just yet due to bad publicity.

Jurassic Park is a brilliant film with a plot that cant age (it only gets better with time honestly). To dumb it down into a schlocky action movie with nothing but big monster fights is a damn shame.

I don't blame you I once felt similarly but I've just accepted that it's the way it is now but at least you still got the first film to enjoy

Shadowknight1

I am going to point this out, and this is coming from a place of adoration for Jurassic Park:  The first movie is nowhere near perfect by any stretch of the imagination.  For one thing, even back THEN, the premise was flawed.  Dinosaur DNA can't be obtained by the means shown and filling in sequence gaps with frog DNA would likely have resulted in an abomination that couldn't survive out of a lab.  Then you have the fact that neither Alan or Ellie catch on to what the park is before they see the Brachiosaurus despite Hammond telling them that they're the top minds in their fields.  Why would anyone need the opinion of a paleontologist and paleobotanist if dinosaurs aren't involved?  And for a film that takes itself "so seriously", they sure didn't hesitate to use a cartoon slide whistle sound effect when Nedry fell down before the Dilophosaurus showed up.  There is a natural campiness to the entire series.  I'm tired of pretending it started with JP3.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

I fully embrace Aquaraptor

I might be wrong, but I think there was something similar in the canceled Chaos Effect S2 line.
