Ah nice. Would be neat if it was a mini homage.  I read in another post Pyroraptor might be related to Unenlagia? and the webbed feet were thought possible?  Never heard all that before.

I'm glad you mentioned Rampage b/c that's what the diving Pyroraptor reminded me of. Specifically, The Rock's reaction to the flying wolf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTySaMSbYdk

Quote from: Gwangi on April 28, 2022, 04:41:44 PMthis looks ridiculous and I'm all for it. Every Jurassic Park sequel has missed the mark and failed to deliver on anything remotely as great as that original movie, they might as well cut loose with it.

That's basically what my mindset was going into JW 2015. Yes, I was disappointed about JW being "a wasted opportunity" ( https://palaeomedia.blogs.bristol.ac.uk/2021/07/10/guest-post-does-jurassic-world-have-to-be-accurate-part-one/ ), but also still hoping to enjoy it as "a popcorn movie", & even then, was left disappointed ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=6700.msg315671#msg315671 ). I'm not saying ppl shouldn't get excited for Dominion, just that it's hard for me to get excited after the last 2 movies.

Pyroraptor might be an unenlagiine, but last I checked, unenlagiines are thought to have been shallow-water waders like storks, not underwater swimmers like penguins. Also, the diving Pyroraptor's feet don't really look webbed (Pause at ~1:41, which has a good shot of the right foot): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtQycgMD4HQ

Yeah genetic editing is gonna be the central plot for the next trilogy, what's stopping Biosyn to add some wings or horns to the T.rex? Like Dr. Malcom said, we have unleashed man made cataclysms to the world, sooner or later we'll see an army of super dinos genetically boosted to the max and start taking over the world by eliminating us human. This is the end game of JW franchise with the way things are moving towards.

I can't get it to pause a 1:41 on a good shot of the feet, it's already underwater and kicking.  Probably this is the Dilophosaurus scenerio from the book or just the unknown factor.  You either have a Dilo situation where genetic tampering produced something unexpected, or we like the characters don't know what all these creatures are capable of like the Raptor's intelligence.  They could be using either. Like I said early on at this point you have to view the JW franchise as it's own universe anymore, you can't fully apply what happens in it to ours.  Just like I don't expect a hammer welding god to appear and beat up bad guys, we can't expect dinosaurs in this universe to behave how our current sciences agrees ( or not) how they should.

Isn't this kind of the whole point of the entire series?  I think that's another thing that's been forgotten.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

It's debatable from the book's standpoint, but it was definitely a prominent element of the first film - which is one of the reasons I think the first film holds up so well.
Sadly, that element started sliding away after the second film, and it dropped off a cliff after JW. I certainly don't expect accuracy from this franchise anymore; but that fact also saddens me.

To be honest I have only watched the first trailer. I used to watch people discuss Jurassic Park on YouTube but since most of it is spoilers from leaks and trailers I'm just waiting until the movie comes out

I don't think so. The entire point of the series is control and playing God, and how we don't have it and shouldn't try to control nature.

When Crichton wrote the first novel he did some research and altered things that fit his plot, the raptors were scary fast and smart but all the dinosaurs had forked tongues. The first film did research and made some pretty accurate looking dinosaurs for the time, at least in regards to what we expected to see.  That gets down to heart of a lot of it, what we expect to see is so radically different there isn't one mass concept as there used to be to say " ok the majority thinks this and we're good".  Every creature would need to be a shapeshifter to be what everyone wants it to.  It's just not possible.

I mean even the scientific viewpoint can be wrong, it's just another preconceived idea or theory especially over time. In Jurassic Park and The Lost World even the paleontologists went in with these ideas of how they should behave and found things a bit different than planned.  It's like  with Hammond and Wu's discussion about making the animals slower, more easier to manage. What is reality is defined by what is in the canon be it book or film series.  If some of it lines up with our ideas or theories then cool, it's nice to see that, but we are so far beyond it that any theory used will date it hard.  So it's best to keep most things " in-universe" and view it from that perspective.   I have no trouble saying " This is a Jurassic Park Velociraptor, and this is what we think it really looked like " .  People asking questions is a good thing.

TRIVIA---in JURASSIC PARK, Cameron Thor played Lewis Dodgson, the Biosyn employee who bought 15 dinosaur embryos from InGen's Dennis Nedry. In JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION, Thor is not returning as Dodgson unlike original cast members Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and BD Wong because he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 13 year-old girl who had sought acting lessons from him in 2015. Campbell Scott will play Dodgson in DOMINION.

I wouldn't call that "Trivia" more so an Atrocity but okay
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

A little nuance and context goes a long way. Random facts of "TRIVIA" dropped out of nowhere are already not much appreciated to be completely frank, let alone rather callously bringing up horrible tragedies. It could even be argued this is downplaying, as there was more than one accusation of his behaviour over much of the late 2000's, he just hadn't been formally charged.

Personally I'm uncomfortable bringing the character back at all. Casual fans are unlikely to even remember his name and more well versed fans are likely familiar with why he hadn't been brought back before this point. He's a very small part of this franchise that if you ask me was better left buried entirely in favour of a new villain, they'd even already introduced other companies to replace Biosyn before doubling back here.

I copy/pasted the Trivia from my daily Movie/TV News from another forum---if it's dinosaur movie-related, I post it here. Other dinosaur movie-related trivia I've posted about on forums include ONE MILLION YEARS BC, THE BEAST FROM 20 THOUSAND FATHOMS,THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK,  KING KONG, etc., etc.

Since the Dodgson character is returning in DOMINION but is being played by a different actor, I thought is was relevant to this thread as to why Thor is not returning as Dodgson.

Apparently, there's a Stegosaurus at ~1:43-53, but I don't see it:

Those dino stats really crack me up, 13+ tons Giga and 3-6 tons T.rex ::) ::), like seriously. Can the franchise ever be consistent with their dino size figures?
