It's ridiculous to badger them.  Talk to Universal and the producers, people who actually make decisions that influence look and tone and more. Lot of films have been tanked due to greedy/uneducated producers.

LOL i feel like a celeb rn..

 ;D ;D ;D

I was thinking of editing that out, just in case my intentions might be misinterpreted... but got too lazy since I'm working from a phone.

If the whole notion of higher-ups derailing potential improvements for the tried and true is indeed to blame then I wouldn't be at all surprised. I've been thinking that was part of the reasoning from the get-go.

Although I can also see the reverse side of the coin with people being upset after all the hype for "scientific accuracy" and new advisors, I always had a sinking suspicion execs wouldn't deviate too far from the norm in order to pander to the average film goer. That just doesn't seem like where blockbuster films and franchises are at right now. Part of the blame is on the consumers, but at the end of the day, making any movie is a business venture(one with millions, potentially billions of dollars on the line) and so odds are those in charge will always opt for what has proven successful in the past. Those who are in it for accuracy will be/are sorely disappointed (and understandably so after all the hype) but we're only a fraction of tickets sales at the end of the day.

Reuben03

id probably be more mad about existing in the same timeline as that oviraptor from the five min preview if it wasn't for the fact that its 3 in the afternoon and i still haven't slept yet, insomnia wildin.

ty all for keeping us updated, looking forward to more JWD news...

You've summed it up nicely.  Execs/Producers/marketing have killed and harmed so many franchises especially Universal..whose staff is supposed to check things but really lets anything by if they pay enough.   I never ever thought Rexy,Blue or any of the others would change much they are established characters at this point and have to be recognizable.

HAH! Accurate designs in Primeval!
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

I remember when Horner suggested or cautioned not to make Stygimoloch a separate dinosaur because the current science suggests it was likely a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus or something, but they (Universal, etc) went ahead and ignored him anyways. Seems like this is probably same issue.

I wonder if it would be at all possible to ask if the team (maybe Glen McIntosh at least) was informed about wings for the maniraptorans at least (such as the one in the past sequence and possibly another in the final film that remains to be seen, short of a toy design), assuming someone has not already. I don't expect anything corrected because of the money, time, and effort it would take, but I am curious as to why they don't have them. Lack of information, research, or studio execs in the way?

Edit:
Spoiler

The fact that Schleich did a better job with their Oviraptor is uh something for example.

At least we know all the wild anachronism in that past scene was likely a converging of Trevorrow's favorite dinosaurs apparently, silly plot stuff aside, from at least what one of the articles had said, so not much to be done about that. Granted they'll probably all be in the final film (or the present day stuff, if this was the intro) so this was also likely a way to tease them (especially the Giganotosaurus).

Brusatte literally says "don't have the power to edit the movie" and the comment below it ignores that fact with "Brusatte can save it if they cut the Cretaceous scene".  ::)

Haha yeah you're kinda a big deal now, time to start acting responsible (it's ok you don't have to lol)
Walking With Beasts is the best palaeo media documentary and no one can persuade me otherwise.

avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi It's the other way around. Brusatte was responding.Twitter is confusing like that.

Also I had a look at that post's comment thread and there were some interesting responses from other folks I know (such as Digital Duck who does work on some fantastic JWE Mods and is also working on a new Cenozoic documentary or something called Forgotten Bloodlines: Agate, which Nigel Marvin will be narrating). Both him and Brusatte made some interesting points to consider, at least. It's definitely made me reflect upon my earlier disappointments.

Additionally I'd like to remind, that if folks are disappointed with this franchise's baby steps forward (I mean credit at least where credit is due, they are finally doing feathered animals, and that Moros is still beautifully done, for example, among others), there is also the far more paleo accurate animated Dinosauria series coming next year to look forward toward to at least, which will feature on five (I think) different formations.

Thanks for the correction, I don't have a Twitter account and don't normally peruse the site. The thread you're talking about sounds like an interesting one though.
