According to Dinosauriana, there are at least 3 different Dryptosaurus figures, but they're all in the same kind of boat of small, crude, monochrome or minimally painted toys.

What are the other Dryptosaurus figures?  The Dryptosaurus was actually one of the Transmutazors I had when I was a kid.  The only other Dryptosaurus figure I know of is the one by brandem: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=1679.msg57928;topicseen#msg57928

I hadn't seen Brandem's! DeMarco doesn't include those, but in addition to the Transmutazors he includes a small crude figure from a company called Toys N Things and a porcelain statue from an outfit called Magma Terra. There's no photo for the latter, so I'm guessing it's pretty rare.

Thanks for all the feedback. So of the Transmutazors, only Thecodontosaurus remains as a USL addition?

I think so.  I don't know of any other Thecodontosaurus figures.

Roselaar

I'll keep it in then. Though I would still like to see a picture of it.

Looks like we have a Massospondylus in this post by Takama. I'm pretty sure it's the only one out there:

Thanks, I think you're right in that assessment. Takama, I stole your pic for the list, sorry.  ;)

Also, I don't know if anyone's ever said this yet, but THANK YOU Roselaar for making and maintaining this list. It's a valuable resource.

So that Tokugawa Gerrothorax we talked about.... Here's a picture of it. He also did a Drepanaspis, meaning the Starlux would also be out. But it looks to me like Mei Long and Malawisaurus haven't been done by anyone else. And to preempt argument, I do believe these figures were once sold through the now-defunct email on this site, and not just one-off sculptures by a paleoartist. What I wouldn't give for Gerry!

They used to be purchasable?
The site has a 'contact for purchases' link at the bottom, unfortunately it goes nowhere.

BlueKrono

Right, it's probably been inoperational for years, but it makes me think that these figures were to some extent "mass produced". I believe that's one of the requirements to being on the list - that it had to be purchasable/attainable to the average person for at least some amount of time.

It seems he made some of the Favorite Kinto invertebrates too!

BlueKrono

Like, he actually made them for the Favorite company, or he made the same species in the Favorite set?

Thanks for the heads-up, that's another neat little shake-up for the USL. Two in, two out. That's fair.

He sculpts most or all of Favorite's Prehistoric Life line (Kazunari Araki does most of the dinosaurs, though). So Tokugawa did the whole Cambrian set, the Anomalocaris, Opabinia, Dimetrodon, Archelon, and Dunkleosteus. Not quite as sure on the mammals or the megalodon. He also did the Tarbosaurus and Saurolophus for the Osaka museum.

I might be wrong, but my impression is that the figures on his site were cast by Tokugawa himself in resin. I don't have any of them, but I'd buy that Drepanosaurus given the chance.

I get the impression not all the models on Hirokazu Tokugawa's blog have been "mass-produced".  It looks like some of them have only been made to be displayed in exhibits and consequently haven't been available for the public to buy.  On the page BlueKrono linked to, only the Drepanaspis and Gerrothorax have purchase information underneath them, the Malawisaurus and Mei don't.  Additionally, those two dinosaurs aren't in Hirokazu's shop, while the Drepanaspis and Gerrothorax are...  And BlueKrono, you might be in luck because the Gerrothorax isn't listed as sold out!  Link: http://www.ne.jp/asahi/fragi/ragi/e.shop.html

I think Hirokazu Tokugawa also sculpted the dinosaurs, Pteranodon and Plesiosaurus for the Favorite soft model series 1, if I'm not mistaken?  He did do the Favorite soft model megalodon too: http://a-fragi.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/megalodon-2015.html

And Halichoeres, you might have a chance to buy the Drepanosaurus since it too isn't listed as sold out in Hirokazu's shop!

Thanks for that! I'll inquire about the Drepanosaurus.

I didn't know he had sculpted the Series 1 dinosaurs, but that makes sense given how much fleshier they are. I wish Favorite would mass produce everything he ever touched. The work on his blog is just exquisite.

I seem to remember reading Hirokazu Tokugawa was the sculptor for the Favorite soft model series 1 prehistoric figures, but I can't find anything on that now so I'm not sure about that now.  They remind me of his style though.

I've realised he's sculpted two models of Drepanosaurus: http://a-fragi.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=drepanosaurus  The 2012 one doesn't seem to have been made available to buy though.
