Dan of Dans dinosaurs made a picture showing that Only the Pachycephalosaurus will be out in November. the rest will be out in December.

Of course maybe things have changed so who knows

Damnit, I somehow forgot that Dan's Dinosaurs had revealed that alongside the actual figures - guess it's easy to forget when you tend not to buy Safari figures immediately after release. Thanks for reminding me about that  :)

Am I right in assuming Dan's Dinosaurs gets the figures at roughly the same time Safari starts selling them on their website? Just asking because neither are go to sources for me.

Everyone, I don't know if we new this already but the dinosaur toy blog is on the safari website:
https://store.safariltd.com/

I swear that wasn't there half an hour ago; nice to see the blog being mentioned though!  8)

Pity he didn't do a comparison with the old Safari Dilophosaurus or the Papo one.

I actually has been there for a while. I remember seeing the DTB on Safari's website just a couple of days after the 2020 dinos were unveiled by DAn

Damn! They'd better send 'em to me >:( ;D .

How nice to have an in hand look of these figures so early. The Dilo looks to me better than the promos, specially the line in the mouth, doesn't look as thick as their sites images. I only think the crests could have been more varied in color.

Ceratosaurus blogspot

I didn't like the crest paint...  :-\

I agree with everything you said. It is a relieve to see the mouth with lips is very natural looking.
And I would have liked a little more "oomph" to the crest as well.

In general the figure of dilophosaurus looks magnificent and very realistic. It will be my first dilophosaurus with a closed mouth and no lips. Thanks Doug for your work! It is magnificent! Other toy brands should learn from the Safari brand.

I don't think that the figure is "shockingly small" as the reviewer states. I'm really pleased that the 1/35 scale was adopted for this and several other figures. It allows the paleoartist to sculpt more detail into the work than the old 1/40 did, while still setting a standard scale for a decent number of the figures.

Halichoeres

I find that channel really annoying.

Safari usually gets them a few days to a week or two earlier than Dan's. They're always cheaper direct from Safari, too.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

For me this is the weakest figure in Safari 2020, and I still think I'll get it because I have no dilophosaurus in my collection.  :)) I don't like striking colors, but this painting says nothing to me. It's ... meh, just ... plain fine. The crests in lemon yellow ... come on, with just a little pattern or other colour would have been perfect.

Dinoguy2

It's a nice figure but I have to say I still prefer the Carnegie dilophosaurs, with nicer paint (not even necessarily color scheme, just nicer looking paint) and very dynamic poses. And if this one is 1:35 scale it's not even much of a size advantage over those.

Yes, the crests could use a bit of help with more detailing.

It really would be nice if this reviewer would compare the new figures to old version of the same genus. Or perhaps he simply doesn't own the old Safari Dilophosaurus or the Carnegie Pachycephalosaurus.

I love this sculpt for a number of reasons, including:

1) It's robustness, so characteristic of Watson's work. No anorexic pachy here, for sure. They are a delight to handle, in part for this reason. Like, for example the Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus or Carnotaurus, powerful optimally healthy individuals are depicted - a characteristic which, i think, lends itself to positive marketability.

2) No pronated hands, the bane of so many pachy examples that have been produced.

3) Quality and the price point - the modern Safari dinosaur is highly affordable, yet super accurate and now, well painted. True, the PNSO or Papo product has a paint application that remains the best, but at a steep price. The Safari dinos represent VALUE, the perfect balance of cost and quality, IMO.

Patrx

I like everything about that Pachycephalosaurus; it feels like a natural next step from Doug's Dracorex (speaking more of precision and detail than ontogeny, here.)

Shonisaurus

By far it is the best pachycephalosaurus made to date (I mentioned it before) those details such as the crest injury, the details of the skin, hooves, nostrils (I was pleasantly impressed) its beautiful color, its quality paint Sincerely outstanding makes this figure a good, beautiful and cheap figure. Not too big, rather of normal medium size but of exceptional quality. The details of the eyes fascinate me too. Undoubtedly, the prehistoric animals of the Cretaceous made by Doug outperform those of the Triassic (shringasaurus) and Jurassic (dilophosaurus and inchythiosaurus). Nice cast of figures.

That's my channel, and I'm really sorry you find it annoying. :(  Is there anything specific you don't like?? Maybe I can improve on it.

I do actually have those figures, but 99% of my collection is in storage sadly, along with those figures. I live in a pretty small house and just don't have room for most of my collection to be displayed so I try sticking with the same few figures for reviews so any regular viewers will have an idea of the size. I REALLY wish I could keep every figure handy because I would definitely include figures like that in the corresponding reviews. Sorry about that.
