What Loon made in this April fools Prank is actualy somthing i can see Papo do.    Its Exactly what i had in mind when i Broght up the Nanmu I.rex earlier in this thread.   Makes it more painful knowing that the final figure will sell well regaurdless of how many **** off Papo fans there are.

Papo did it for a reason. Some of you might heard of the term "carpet test", children play with their dinosaur models on the floor so a good test of a dinosaur toy's stability is whether or not it can stand up on a carpet and apparently most distributors and sellers really care about this rule so we totally understand why they value the stability of their products over everything else.

We think it's still a brilliant figure and definitely will add it to our collections.

Eh, I'm familiar with the carpet test (my son carries it out with his toys on a daily basis), but there were still far better options than a Godzilla pose. As much as we've griped in the past about the Carnegie Collection's theropods being in tripod stances, I'm seriously beginning to miss those.

But like I said, what's done is done. I'm still perfectly happy with my Carnegie Giganotosaurus anyway.

Carnegie usually did tripods right. Intended simply for balance, body tipped up at a relatively believable "alert" posture, tail not so bent as to seem broken. Even the original T. rex has nothing anatomically impossible about it.

This Papo one just looks painful.  :-\
This.

Ironically, a lot of those semi-upright postures Carnegie used are becoming more accurate as time goes by. As we are becoming more generally aware that the flat horizontal posture that became so ubiquitous was originated as much if not more as an artistic choice rather than a scientific one, companies are as usual a couple years behind and are just starting to fully commit to that horizontal posture. I give it at least another five years before they catch up and posture starts becoming more variable.
On one of my display shelves I have three Giganotosaurs - the Eofauna, the recent Safari and, yes, the older Carnegie Safari one. My Carnegie stands up without using the tail as a tripod, but the overall effect is as avatar_stargatedalek @stargatedalek outlines above. The Carnegie still looks outstanding and the pose is NOW a refreshing change from the currently ubiquitous horizontal stance. The two Safaris work nicely together, color and pose included.

Forget the papo giga, there  should be a petition to make the Papo Limited edition spino not limited, or atleast with a cheaper paint

The giganotosaurus is an example of papo being lazy in my view...here they are with clearly some of the best sculptors and yet what you get is this joke of a figure when clearly they have the ability to make it as good as the other giganotosaurus from other companies...the boring repaints by papo show how lazy they have become..id rather have a new sculpt of t rex and triceratops from papo which are way overdue .

Papo and Rebor were the more affordable detailed figures but if the Giga upsets you as much as me then we can look forward to the Nanmu one at least (more detailed too).

Shonisaurus

Honestly, Papo's giganotosaurus is very detailed, but ... that posture distorts him as a figure, it seems as if he were going to give a hug to a family member or friend, it is a quite humanized posture, and Papo has plenty of capacity to make outstanding figures Like his excellent spinosaurus limited edition of 2019, I had honestly expected something better from his giganotosaurus, it is not how I would have liked it. At least we have the figures of Safari, Eofauna, Nanmu, Vitae and even PNSO.

If at least the posture had substance or grace as is the case with your cryolophosaurus or pentaceratops it would be one hundred percent excusable.

It was a missed opportunity.

whoops my bad i thought I recognised it. Don't worry, they'll recognise a demand for a better giganotosaurus this way. I just wish people would do the same thing with K&m and a new vinyl prehistoric minis series haha

thanks. But it seems very simple to create yourself(which i totally understand is not the same feeling as the real deal), unlike the papo spinosaurus 2019, which will take me decades to barely replicate. I hope you get it soon

Thank you! Its just all about finding the right materials, that's all, then I can make my own superior scientifically accurate minis... oh the obscure amphibians and marine reptiles and permian/triassic beasts I'd create!!!

Let's be honest, it was never going to do anything.

The lead time between starting production and prototype photos is usually a year--product photos indicates even more time and existing investment.
