That image looks rather like a CGI render to me.

So many artifacts in the image hard to tell

Edit: aha, they are display models in that museum, check next to the Fukuisaurus' leg http://www.dinosaur.pref.fukui.jp/en/dic/Fukuisaurus.html

You can even see the the protoceratops model is quite large as seen through the ribs

It's not. I have a some Japanese museum catalogues (idk if that's the right word..), and they often commission artists to make small scale models to display alongside the skeletons in an exhibition. Actually I have a catalogue of the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, which is the very exhibit that these models are on display in.

And of course we have all seen the Fukuiraptor and Fukuisaurus somewhere else in model form ;)

I know this isn't the right thread, but I couldn't think of anywhere to put it--can someone confirm/deny that these are the Baltimore Aquarium poison dart frogs that Safari Ltd. manufactured? Of all Safari's museum-quality lines (smithsonian bugs, carnegie dinos, MBA marine critters, Tennessee aquarium salamanders, etc) I have been able to find the least amount of information about this line.

Hi, this is my first post here. This is a grey Tyrannosaurus model with movable legs, and a jaw that can be opened by a switch on the neck. It looks like it was modelled after the Zallinger mural, has the same weird ear. Anyone know the date or the line of the figure? Sorry for the bad photos.

Thanks, that was quick! I Googled what you wrote, and also found it in an old Dinotoy forum thread (posted by you): http://dinotoyforum.proboards.com/thread/2651/identification-thread?page=23&scrollTo=104680

I can't say whether or not they were originally licensed from the Baltimore Aquarium, but Safari still makes them today in their Incredible Creatures line in a bulk bin and there is no mention of the Baltimore Aquarium.

I own that set. It's not worth buying, trust me. I got mine off eBay a while back. I bought it out of pure curiosity, but I don't support piracy these days anymore.

I have to admit I find the Engrish amusing.

Since so many people seem to be curious about the "Century of the Dragons" set, I'll post some pictures here.

"Pterosaurs" with detachable head

"Rapator"

Unable to stand by itself, hence my hand in the photo. Also note the grey paint smudge on the tail.

Tyrannosaurus rex

Triceratops

"Deltadromeus agilis"

By the way, the "Delta" doesn't even stand up by itself. It's in a three point stance and it can't even stand? ::)

They're all hollow and the plastic they have been cast in feels cheap and nasty. If you like these sculpts, do yourself a favour and buy the real ones from Safari Ltd. I will probably throw these in the trash.

Don´t throw them in the trash! Makes a nice new thread, btw. "Did you ever throw a dinosaur figure in the trash?" ^-^
