avatar_Loon @Loon I would like to see in the near future how is your closet with those lights. It is a very smart idea to have all your collection figures properly placed. Lighting is essential for shelves as beautiful as yours. It will give more category to your dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals.

I recently made the hour and a half pilgrimage out to Hemet to visit the Western Science Center. I really enjoyed, so, I, of course, needed to get a souvenir, or two, or three... This picture was taken in the picnic area near my car. Apparently, under the constant threat of rattlesnakes.

I had never bought a Paleozoic Pal before and figured this Eurypterid would be fitting, as one of the museum exhibits was about prehistoric marine life. The woman at the front desk read out what I was buying as it scanned, and it was a treat to hear, "pin, sticker, the eurypterid".

Also, the bookcases are now officially done. I still need to reorganize a bit. I thought I had more figures to display, so I kinda scrunched them together on the first few shelves, so the bottom shelves are a little bare.

I also reframed my Dinotopia poster.

I'll post some better pics when I reorganize.

You have excellent shelves. These lights give a lot of life to the figures of prehistoric animals exposed. You have done a good job, I see you have a nice and excellent collection.

Thanks! The lights have really helped, my room usually has the worst lighting on the planet.

Faelrin

Those displays turned out fantastic and wow is the Shonisaurus much bigger then I was expecting after comparing along side some of the figures you have there that I also have, such as the Mattel figures or Safari Ltd Carnotaurus, etc. Kind of glad it is since it was one of the biggest ichthyosaurs of all time.

So cool to see the Arizonasaurus on display in a top notch collection.

ceratopsian

I wouldn't worry about the lower shelves being less filled - you will need somewhere to put new purchases, so they will soon look less bare!  Nice display.

Well that looks marvelous!
The lighting works well and I really like the way you have managed to fill each shelf in a harmonious way.
It feels like I'm looking at a painting of Bruegel in a museum.  ;D

Wandering

Ah nothing like the look of a full shelf! I also have a huge bin of figures awaiting shelf space that I won't have in until another year and a half >.<

Shonisaurus

avatar_Fenestra @Fenestra I totally agree with you and would add when I see my collection of prehistoric animals reminds me of fantastic figures from the Bosco painting. They look like figures taken from Bosco's musical hell.

Thank you all for the kind comments on the recent display update. I got some more of the plastic trays I use to create the levels on the shelves, so as soon as I recover from surgery, I'll update the display and post some pics.

In the meantime, here are some of the figures that I've gotten since my last post.

Carnegie Collection Deltadromeus and Battat Nanshiungosaurus

I really love getting new species, and these guys fit the bill. The Deltadromeus is a really beautiful little figure, and it's apparently based on a piece of Mark Hallet art that I really love. I like the Nanshiungosaurus a lot as well, though I wish it was feathered. I remember reading the late Mr. Lorusso's defense of this choice, and I wasn't sold. So, for a while I didn't want this figure at all; which made me miss out on it when it was more easily available and cheaper. Now that I have it, I gotta say, this is one of the nicest Therizinosaurs on the market.

CollectA Daxiatitan

I was always interested in this figure in the way I'm interested in a lot of CollectA's pre-2018 catalogue (which is when I started collecting their figures), meaning I wasn't in a rush to get this one. However, I saw someone's display, either here or on Facebook, with this and a bunch of other Sauropod figures, and the size of this one really captured me. I love big sauropods, and this guy's got a good size for a modern Sauropod toy. Also, I think this is the only Titanosaur I own.

The "Walking With Dinosaurs" Section:

Toyway WWD Torosaurus, Ankylosaurus, and Polacanthus

These seem to be the most common of the Toyway figures, which explains how I won the lot of them so easily. They may not be my favorite species or designs from WWD, but I really like the heft of these guys, and sometimes that's enough for me.

Schleich Anhanguera

Technically this isn't a true Walking with Dinosaurs figure, but my chances of ever finding that Ornithocheirus are so low, I'll take what I can get. So, this figure will make a good stand in for the WWD display I want to put together.

The eBay listing I bought it from didn't have the best pictures, so I was surprised how scuffed up he is; but, that's ok, I'll just pretend it's the Ornithocheirus from the end of the episode.

Toyway Liopleurodon

I can't justify this one. I never see this figure for sale, so when it popped up I jumped on it. This is now the most expensive figure I own, but also the rarest, so that kinda makes up for it??? I really do love this thing. It represents on of my favorite species from WWD, and also just works as a Liopleurodon model. I kinda wish it was really big, but oh well.

I made a little stand for it with some wire I got at Michael's, but, it's horrible and I hate it. I think I'm gonna get some knock off Bandai stands for my flying and marine reptiles in the near future.

Shonisaurus

I congratulate you for your new acquisitions, especially for the Battat Nanshiungosaurus that figure is already scarce in the market and much more find it new. I am very glad of all your new acquisitions, especially of discontinued toy dinosaurs such as the 2006 Schleich ornitholestes, or deltradomeus.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Some very nice acquisitions, I'm rather fond of 5 of them myself in particular.
As a side note I'm glad I didn't get your mammoth you were selling, found one in uk for a fiver plus postage.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

Killekor

Congratulations for your new acquisitions avatar_Loon @Loon ! You've bought some great figures!

The WWD's in particular are great, and the CollectA Daxiatitan look gorgeous! Now I'm really interested in it! It's bigger than the Argentinosaurus? Could you post some comparison photos with the Carnegie Miragaia? Thanks in advance!
Furthermore I didn't even know the existence of a Deltadromeus figure until now, it looks nice!

Killekor
Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

I recently saw a very nice fossil of Archelon at the Western Science Center over in Hemet, California. So, I just had to get a figure of this animal.

Favorite Archelon
This girl arrived unusually fast from Japan (literally a few days), and I love this figure. Though mine, despite being new had some scratches and a weird dent in the shell. I'm still happy with it. If you've ever seen a sea turtle, they look like they've taken quite a beating, so I like to think this Archelon has had a rough life.

Shonisaurus

I congratulate you Loon for this figure of Soft Model, for me it is the only archelon in the toy market that has an acceptable size.

Faelrin

Congrats on all your recent acquisitions, and particularly those Toyway WWD ones, especially that Liopleurodon. I also really do think that Favorite Archelon is one the best out there currently, but then again there really isn't much out there for it anyways (but some is better then none in any case).

Toy Show Finds
Since my sister is visiting from Texas, we decided to go to the Frank & Son Collectible Show. I'm not really into figures outside of dinosaurs and the like, so the majority of the stuff there doesn't interest me. One shop did have some dinosaurs, so I decided to take a look. Most of their stuff was really overpriced ($30 for a Battat Terra Tyrannosaurus); but, I spotted these absolute gems:

I did have to do a bit of digging to find all of them; the Yangchuanosaurus' base was separated from the figure itself. The seller wanted $50 for the Yangchuanosaurus alone, or maybe just for it's base, as that was the only thing that had a price sticker; luckily he gave me the whole lot for that price. So, I guess I got these guys for a steal, I think; I never see these for sale, so I don't know.

Bullyland Batrachotomus

"Dinosaurs of China" Yangchuanosaurus

Carnegie Collection Saltasaurus

Primordial Profiles Ceratosaurus Skull
At the same show, I found a booth that sold cast iron(?) Dinosaur skulls. They had necklaces, rings, and skulls on stands. I got a smaller one, the Ceratosaurus, since they didn't have a Protoceratops:

The makers can be found here.

Shonisaurus

avatar_Loon @Loon What beautiful figures you've collected Loon. The bust of the ceratosaurus skull is very beautiful, it is very artistic

On the other hand, Safari yangchuanosaurus and Carnegie saltasaurus are unrepeatable figures, I'm glad you found them.

The Bullyland batrachotomus belongs to the golden age of that unique brand that I hope will reissue those figures especially for those people who did not have the opportunity in their day to collect those figures.

Killekor

Congratulations for your acquisitions Loon! You had some really lucky finds!
I remember Primordial profiles because some years ago they launched a kickstarter project in which I was interested to, and it's the first time I see a photo of someone having one of their products.
That skull looks really great! It's sad that there aren't any cheap accurate dinosaur skeletons available.
