I have the same issue with the Tuojiangosaurus as well. I wonder if it's possible to safely remove the eye paint all-together, providing a fresh base to work with for repainting the eyes.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

I'd be surprised. I'd expect these to be painted with PVC paint, which bonds chemically to the underlying plastic and can't be cleanly removed with solvents. I think you'd have to just paint over it.

That Tuojiangosaurus looks great! and your photo helps me to see how big it is, since it is close to the Safari Stegosaurus which I have!.
Glad to help, and yeah, he's quite big, it was a little surprising to me.

Huh, that's interesting, I didn't know about that. Thanks for that info.

I've now got some Beasts of the Mesozoic Ceratopsians on the way, even though I initially decided I wasn't going to collect that line, but they just look too good to pass up. Now I just have to clear some space for them.

Eocarcharia

A pretty big update for my collection:
For a couple different reasons, I've decided to clear out a large portion of my Carnegie collection. This mainly consists of most of the older vintage figures that I've acquired. I'll be keeping the figures that either mean something to me, are the best version of a species I have, or that I just still like.

Here's the entire collection assembled one last time.

These are the keepers. I may eliminate more in the future.

It really is quite something seeing all of those together. And also shows how impressively wide and varied their range was, over the past couple of decades. Thanks for sharing.

In the absence of any new additions, I'll share one of the more unusual items in my collection:

A Diplocaulus model I made out of clay. It's based on the Diplocaulus from Jurassic World: The Game, so any kind of scientific accuracy or realism wasn't really the goal.

demon diplocaulus if you casted this guy from clay your very talented at sculpting I wish you can sculpt more prehistoric animals.

You're welcome, and indeed it is. I'm a little sad to break up the collection, but since I'm no longer interested in collecting Safari Ltd. figures to completion, I just see them as unnecessary. Now, I'd rather have the space and money for other things.

Thank you! Although I personally consider it to be a crude effort. If I were to attempt anything like that again today, I could definitely improve my methods. That does actually sound fun, maybe I will do more sometime in the future.

Sell, or otherwise remove from my collection and possession.

Update:
A couple packages arrived in the mail recently. The first, from Japan, a Sega Toys Dinosaur King Saurophaganax. I was really eager to get this one, it's one of my favorites from the series. Now I only need the Amargasaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, and Triceratops.

I do wish that a company would make a proper model of one, larger than CollectA's standard version.

And, secondly -

What's in the box?

Halichoeres

Hmm, could that box be from Creative Beast?

Mmmaybe...

Spoiler
Yes, it is! Although I won't be opening it until Christmas, as it's technically a gift from family.

Following up on the Carnegie Collection gathering and purge, I've enacted the same process with the rest of my Safari figures. The result:

Dang, that's a lot. There are still a few extra duplicates and the two skull toobs missing from the shot. Despite the quantity, far fewer of these ended up going out.

I also took the opportunity to assemble the models I own from other companies, which is decidedly less:

My few Papo figures. I still have a Spinosaurus that I got to repaint. I may get to that eventually.

Terra by Battat. Another collection that I'm breaking up.

PNSO has rapidly risen to become one of my favorite brands for prehistoric animal models. All of these I've acquired this year, and I quite like all of them. I look forward to getting more down the road.

Lastly, my lone Kaiyodo Meiolania. Earlier this year, I went a little crazy browsing their offerings, and made a list of figures I wanted to get, mostly their amphibians and invertibrates. As of now, I have decided not to get anymore, to avoid flooding my shelves with them.

Faelrin

Woah is that a ton of figures. Really nice seeing them altogether like that though. Curious though, are there any you plan on keeping?

I got the Meiolania this year too. Definitely a charming little figure.

I'm probably keeping the majority of my collection, though that's not to say I'm not getting rid of a substantial chunk. This is what I've gathered to go out:

For whatever reason I've been hanging on to these. They're definitely going out now too.

Now for the keeping part. Here is my main shelf in its newly reorganized state. Not a whole lot has changed here. One difference is that I've integrated my remaining Battats into this display.

This is where most of the changes have happened. Here used to be conpletely full of Safari and Carnegie figures. It largely still is, but slightly less crowded and with everything cleared off the top (save for some seasonal decorations.)

Section 1. This is all stuff I've gotten while vacationing in Colorado and South Dakota. Yes, that's one of those water bottle coolers in the middle.

Section 2: assorted stuff.

Section 3: Figures and plushes, mostly from trips.

Section 4: Safari stuff that I'm attached to.

Section 5: More Safari and Carnegie figures that I've gotten from eBay over the years. Specifically, the ones that I like enough to keep. And a few that were a real pain to get ahold of.

Section 6: These Carnegie and Safari figures I specifically got when going to the T-Rex Cafe in Disney Springs.

That about does it for the recent changes in my collection. I'll leave you with a picture of my little Christmas tree. Merry Christmas and Happy holidays everyone.

Halichoeres

Very nice, a good mix of well-made figures. Enjoy opening your ceratopsians today :)

I hope everyone had a happy holidays, and a happy new year! I'm here now to show off my Christmas haul (sort of):
Ceratopsians!

Overall, I like them a lot. The Styracosaurus is my favorite, hands down. I love the colors on it, though I can understand why others feel differently. I have, however, encountered a couple quality control issues, which is a little annoying given their price. As others have pointed out, paint chipping is a common occurance. My Styracosaurus has had it worst, see here:

Those two spots on the neck came off after a day of having it posed with its head turned to the side, with the chipped areas contacting the body. Another noticeable problem is the sloppily-applied paint on my Triceratops' left eye, seen below. Compare with the properly-painted right eye.

In the end, I find that those criticisms don't detract all that much from my enjoyment of the figures. I'm now eagerly awaiting the next waves and future Beasts of the Mesozoic series.

Shonisaurus

I congratulate you for all your figures, without a doubt I really like the styracosaurus especially the pictorial decoration of the gola is masterful! On the other hand, the Centrosaurus is a must for any collector interested in ceratopsids, I think that to date there are very few Centrosaurus figures made in the toy dinosaur market. Thanks for sharing all these photos.

stoneage

Nice collection?  I like the way you arranged many of them on the shelves.

avatar_Shonisaurus @Shonisaurus S @stoneage Thank you!

I was at Target yesterday and spotted a couple Grims of the pegs. That was only the second time I had seen any in-store. I had been on the fence about getting it ever since it was revealed, but decided to go for it; partly after having just finished season 2 of Camp Cretaceous, and partly because one of them had perfectly painted eyes, which I know I'll never be able to find again.

The trio reunited! (sort of.)
