Keep in mind species that will appear in Dominion are likely being barred from appearing and will come closer to the films release.

Holup...
Spoiler
Concavenator is appearing in Dominion? Actually, I don't tell me, I'd rather not know for sure.

so you definitely dont wanna know? because like
Spoiler
its not, unfortunately.

Lmao I went to quote your post without viewing the spoiler and it showed what it said:
Spoiler

That's ok though, I don't mind knowing that it isn't in, I just wouldn't want the surprise of its appearance ruined if it did show up.

As for the new update, it's good to see that they're listening to feedback straight away. If this keeps up they could have all the kinks ironed out in another month or two. Here's hoping. I'd love to be able to get the game feeling satisfied that it isn't a broken mess.

The new creatures all look great too.

I'm posting again to let folks know I've updated the op with the new species (and the 2 new species field guides for Tylosaurus and Kronosaurus), and revised all the lists that needed revised. So far we're at 8 new land dinosaurs, 7 new pterosaurs (would be 8 if not for Pteranodon technically returning), and 8 new marine reptiles, in addition to all the returning animals. I think that's pretty balanced so far. The new species total, including this new DLC, and the previous base game and Deluxe Edition/Pack is now up to 88 animals total, with only 2 being hybrids. Between the inevitable Dominion update, and whatever other future DLC's, we should easily have over 100 animals to toy around with by the game's end of development.

Dominion (and Prologue) roster spoilers, which could push this up by 6-8, if not more:
Spoiler

-Atrociraptor (leaked)
-Dimetrodon (leaked; not a dinosaur or reptile however)
-Lystrosaurus (officially revealed animatronic; not a dinosaur or reptile however)
-Moros (was in the Prologue)
-Oviraptor (was in the Prologue)
-Pyroraptor (leaked)
-Quetzalcoatlus (was in the Prologue)
-Therizinosaurus (leaked)

Never mind the film canon designs of Allosaurus, Carnotaurus, Dreadnoughtus, Giganotosaurus, Iguanodon, Tyrannosaurus, etc, that will likely get new skins to correspond with the designs there.
[close]

There's also the potential for a Camp Cretaceous update or DLC. New species in those are in the op, but that's at least 2 minimum from the past season.

While it does have the new JW design, the JPIII one from the last game was also found in the game's files and the devs did say they were taking a look at it. Hopefully it will be back in with the next patch. Honestly I see it as no different as including the JW and JP raptors for example. They are both variations of the same animal more or less.
Edit: JPIII Pteranodon is being included in the Update 1 after all. Additionally worth mentioning there will be a way to disable combat in sandbox after all, and another neat little thing about the upcoming DLC Kronosaurus is that it will be able to eat from the shark feeder.

Absolutely huge change log here.

A few things to note:

The Kronosaurus has a skin that is near exact to the Safari Ltd figure (which in turn is pretty similar to the WWD Liopleurodon to begin with):

Pic from this link.

They added the JPIII/2001 Pteranodon but have it mislabeled as the 1997 one and they have it unlock in TLW Chaos Theory mode. On top of that it is also comically small for some reason:

Pic from this link.

Lastly in their attempt at fixing and removing the quills from the female JPIII raptor, they also ended up removing them from the JPIII male. This is because they both share the same model and folder, unlike the original game which had split folders and models for them. Why they didn't just do that from the start is beyond me. Edit: Saw that Jens reported it to the dev team here.

Spoiler tag because it is pretty cursed:

New Camp Cretaceous DLC coming out March 8:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xTy-z87idU

Steam page has more details, and images (including the bioluminescent Parasaurolophus Lux):

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1882470/Jurassic_World_Evolution_2_Camp_Cretaceous_Dinosaur_Pack/

Details below:

Quote
About This Content
Showcase an array of outstanding new prehistoric species with the Jurassic World Evolution 2: Camp Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack. Inspired by Universal Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks Animation's hit Netflix show, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, this DLC features two entirely new dinosaurs, two new variants for existing species, and eight eye-catching skins that players can use to bring their parks to life.

SCORPIOS REX
One of Dr. Henry Wu's first hybrid creations, the Scorpios Rex is a truly fearsome carnivore. Blood-red eyes, charcoal-black scales, prominent spikes, and jagged, uneven teeth characterise this impressive species. Known for its aggressive nature, it was originally deemed unfit for display...until now.

MONOLOPHOSAURUS
Named for the single crest adorning its skull, the Monolophosaurus is a medium-sized carnivore from the mid-Jurassic period. Its distinguished crest helps intensify roars and aids communication between Monolophosauruses.

OURANOSAURUS  (Variant)
The Ouranosaurus is a peaceful herbivore that lives in large herds. Keeping a single Ouranosaurus is not advised, as lone individuals have been known to break out of their enclosures and panic guests. The Ouranosaurus has a broad snout and tall spines on its back supporting a camel-like hump.

KENTROSAURUS  (Variant)
Despite being covered in lethal-looking spikes, the Kentrosaurus is actually a docile herbivore that uses its beak to bite off plant material. One of the smallest species of stegosaur, the Kentrosaurus defends itself when threatened using long spikes on each shoulder and smaller spikes protruding from its hips and tail.

8 NEW DINOSAUR SKINS
Bring the Baryonyx trio Grim, Limbo and Chaos, plus Toro the Carnotaurus, Bumpy the Ankylosaurus, and Big Eatie the Tyrannosaurus Rex to life in your parks, and entrance your guests with two glow-in-the-dark skins inspired by the Parasaurolophus Lux.
·         1 Ankylosaurus skin - Bumpy
·         3 Baryonyx skins - Grim, Limbo, Chaos
·         1 Carnotaurus skin - Toro
·         2 Parasaurolophus Lux skins - Lux 1 (glow in the dark), Lux 2 (glow in the dark)
·         1 Tyrannosaurus rex skin - Big Eatie

Folks should be aware that the 3 Baryonyx skins shown are actually just skins already in the game (which explains why they are not show accurate). Rather this is a mistake, or not awaits to be a seen. Edit: Appears the initial screenshot of the Baryonyx trio as seen below has been pulled off the Steam page. Likely a mistake then. Fingers crossed anyways.

There is also a new patch on the way, including a long requested Species Viewer (whatever that means), first person mode, placeable trees, and other scenery items, etc. Will be updating the op with the new info next.

It is indeed a mistake, thankfully.

The pack looks nice, but aside from the Monolophosaurus it isn't anything I have to have.

avatar_Eocarcharia @Eocarcharia I was coming to post this. I am relieved to see that it was a mistake after all.

I definitely want all of it, but I still gotta get around to getting the game first. I wonder if I should just wait for the Steam Summer sale, and the inevitable Dominion pack to come out first. I definitely want to use the Pyroraptor the first chance I get, and I think it would be best to wait for it to be available before experiencing anything else. Also might have another patch or two roll out before then as well to fix and/or add new features, etc.

Me too. It would make me feel a little better about getting it, although I'll very likely wait until a sale before considering purchasing it. Unique character skins and another hybrid just don't really excite me.

Speaking of sales, waiting for one + more updates to add content and polish certainly isn't a bad idea. So long as you don't end up feeling like this.

Faelrin

I have plenty of games to occupy myself with (such as Skyrim, previously Daggerfall, etc, and including the original JWE with or without mods, such as this relevant Camp Cretaceous one I've been using, which I've been revisiting lately), so I don't thankfully feel that way. There's also other mods for many of the added QOL features as well, such as the time controls, the upcoming first person thing, better terrain tools, mixed eras, etc, for the original never mind the plethora of new species mods as well (such as Psittacosaurus, Yutyrannus, etc). Plus there's also terrain and tree mods if I ever get sick of the tropical biome too.

Next update is really solid. And I am really tempted to get this next month. It's like all my (and others) gripes have been listened to and dealt with between the previous major patch and this next one. I wonder how they will top this with the inevitable Dominion one?

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/camp-cretaceous-dinosaur-pack-and-free-update-2-coming-8-march-2022.599761/

Getting sandbox without needing to unlock anything (except Challenge mode skins), a new JPOG or JWE challenge style mode for Sandbox, placeable trees, 40 new decorations (including the raptor pen, fountains, the Spinosaurus skeleton), a legitimate first person mode, prey can escape or fight pack hunters, etc.

Edit: The actual skins for the Baryonyx trio have been revealed too:
