avatar_DavidJamesArmsby @DavidJamesArmsby will we ever get a permian or triassic episode focusing on non dinosaur reptiles? I loved seeing the lisowicia in "rise of the decayed" and I would like to see more
When life closes a door, open it again! It's a door that's how they work, dummies!

I would love to do something set in the Permian but it'd have to be something outside of the Dinosauria Series, for obvious reasons. Inostrancevia, Dilocaulus, and Scutosaurus were all going to appear in SAURIA but got cut. Maybe one day I'll find a reason to get to animate them.

I can also pretty much guarantee that Dinosauria Vol. 3 (if and when that happens) will have one or more Triassic episodes. I've actually been building a list of things that a future Dinosauria Volume 3 MUST and MUST NOT include. On the list of MUST HAVE's is at least one stegosaur, at least one spinosaur, and at least one film set in the Triassic.

Quote from: DavidJamesArmsby on April 18, 2025, 12:55:40 AMThis is the order of the upcoming episodes, their names (working title means title is not final), and star species. They're definitely not in chronological order this time.

Episode 1: "Terrible Lizards" - Megalosaurus/Iguanodon - Middle Jurassic/Early Cretaceous, England.
Episode 2: "Hunted by Moonlight" - Scutellosaurus - Early Jurassic, North America.
Episode 3: "Down Under" (working title) - Kronosaurus - Early Cretaceous, Australia.
Episode 4: "Cruel Sands" (working title) - Velociraptor - Late Cretaceous, Mongolia.
Episode 5: "Two Titans" - Sauroposeidon/Acrocanthosaurus - Early Cretaceous, North America.

To be fair, it begins w/Jurassic dinos & ends w/Cretaceous dinos ;) Roughly chronological is good enough for me.

I'm hoping for Stegosaurus (not enough up-to-date animations of it IMO) & Spinosaurus (I really like how it's depicted in Sauria, but would like even more to see it in its natural habitat), but will probably like whatever you come up w/.

BTW, I just found out about this video. It's nice to see a more mainstream reactor react to Dinosauria:

New teaser. Really digging the swapping between different artistic eras.

The transition of the video from Sepia to Black&White to VHS to modern high-res digital for the actual short as the depictions of the dinosaurs get more and more scientifically accurate is absolutely brilliant. Film's not even out yet and it's already peak fiction

avatar_Over9K @Over9K I actually used that exact Charles R. Knight Rebor T. Rex as reference. All three of the models pictured here were huge influences for the 1933 "Megalosaurus" design in the film.
...even though it just ended up looking like Gwangi! XD

Gonna be giving this a watch in a bit. Had a long day (but with some good results). A nice way to help end things (or nearly).

Definitely favors Gwangi, but I see all three.

I adore the X-Plus/Star Ace Gwangi... the only dinosaur figure I've actually hugged upon unboxing!

The X-Plus/Star Ace Gwangi is one of my favourite things I own. I buy, collect, and display just as much film/movie/cinema stuff as I do dinosaur stuff, and that Gwangi is the best of both worlds.

It's a wonderful animation and really makes the Crystal Palace dinosaurs look like plausible animals.

avatar_GojiraGuy1954 @GojiraGuy1954 - there's a great argument by Darren Naish that Waterhouse Hawkins' sculptures were scientically accurate and spot on for the paleontological knowledge of the day:

He thinks that through this historical lens, they were just as accurate as today's reconstructions.

Brilliant to see the sequence showing how scientific knowledge has evolved though nonetheless 👏

Love how did you adjust the image format depending the era.
Also I saw the easter egg of the date in the 90s era version!

I'd like to see what PNSO, or Blue Rhino would come up with if they were to take the Crystal Palace dinosaurs as accurate, and then update them with modern sculpts, detailing, colorways...

If I may... ROMUALDO FORMATION PLEASE!!!! I really do love Spinosaurus, but I think a film set there with Irritator and a bunch of Pterosaurs like Thalassodromeus, Anhanguera, Cearadactylus, Tapejara, etc could turn out really special. We see Spinosaurs eating fish all the time, so Irritator being shown hunting Pterosaurs could be very novel imo

I'd love to see more Triassic content, only because there might be a chance of seeing my favorite prehistoric weirdo: the toilet-seat-jawed Gerrothorax.
